    I recently bought a 2nd A1 after watching this video, and wow it sounds amazing! The audio quality is superb! I really like having a speaker on either side of me, it just immerses you in the music. It took me a while to firgure out the setup, but its fairly simple once you get the hang of it.

      Yes. It's a space-ial holophonic type stereo. I think one of the best. Type the Onkyo file player and get some true DSD files if you want to really see it full effect. DSD files are like a gig+ a song.

    Follow up - after 2 months - still going strong. I've used these in stereo to entertain 50 guest at a tent wedding rehearsal dinner - and the guests were spellbound -- loud during cocktails and lower during the dinner. Hang them from the inside tent edges and only needed max 50% volume - the tent reflects the sound and these speakers filled a 30x60' tent. They ran for 6 hours, no problem. The kitchen staff all came out the tent after the bulk of guests left and listened for another couple hours in amazement to the sparkling crystal clarity sound with some old friends that stayed at the makeshift bar with me. To sync phone to speakers that day I did need to RESTART THE PHONE - which I find is needed quite often (mem leak of the pandora app? ). Just remember that -- restart the phone if speakers start cutting in and out - it's a phone memory management issue, I think -- Samsung or poor app management... I built a custom channel in the paid pandora side so there were no adds - and it was not interupted. These speakers paid for themselves instead of hiring a band or DJ - and we had instant access to up/down the mix, levels, etc. Also, used twice at the family scottish clan tent playing high grade Celtic music -- at Highland games with probably 5,000 tent visitors (40,000 overall there) and many would just stop and look around for the source and listen to a few songs. In that setting, 7am to 5pm was okay, but I needed to run a power line (usbC cable from an 8-charge lithium ion pack meant for cellphones) because the B&O units cut to low volume after 5 hours of 100% volume or 12 hours of 50% volume. I'll bet they would run for the weekend 24hr*3 days if on that pack the whole time. Stereo separation is stellar, especially with decent audio files and songs. I've tried 5Gig DSD albums through them and the sound quality is ZERO discernible distortion. My latest invent is a bike platter bolted to a rack - it places the sound all around the rider in spatial harmony - it's surreal in the Florida landscape.

    6 mo follow up. They have the best sound of ANY bluetooth paired portable speaker yet. Heard a larger paired system on an iPhone from another company - it was like listening to AM stereo radio compared to my A1 pair. I made a bike mount out of wood using a detachable seat post mount. It's a little too wide for busy bike trails but the stereo separation is massive. Going around one bumpy turn, one popped out, hit the asphalt and the grill popped off. No damage to the unit, other than a dented grill that kept the cover from snap-locking (clockwise turn) back on. So, very carefully I tapped the dent out from the inside with a tiny hammer and a rounded stone. Bingo, it click-turned back on and has stayed on ever since. It's my favorite thing riding with these speakers on a bike day or night. Friends always ask for me to being these speakers so they can enjoy the sound. I've ran them tied up to the 10' festival tent tops, one to each side, and we fill the tent and in front of it with people just listening to them. BONUS -- since it requires a B&O app and a big deal to set up - the all too common speaker hog who want to pair and take over the song list really CANT. You get complete control over the songs. Still haven't paired an ipad or mac to them yet - it works too well with my android s7 and the crisp-clear onkyo DSD/MP3 player. Can't wait to upgrade to a V20 wth onboard DACs some day to run the onkyo player.. anyone using the V20 ?

      The problem with the Beoplay A1 is the weak battery. It will last for 5 hours tops.

    Just bought a pair of A1. And it's very easy to pair without the application. The sound is very good. And yes, it is stereo.

    thank you TonyTonyTony for making this video available to BeoPlay A1 lovers like me; especially that you mentioned no video is available anywhere in English in doing this. GBU.

      adg24377 - Yes - and I still haven't seen anyone else doing this. I'm loving a pair of A1s. It's the only way to go. BTW - if you are a hard core user of these speakers get an 8x lithium recharge backup battery and keep the cables around - if entertaining guests for over 5 hours at full volume. These speakers will fill a small hall. The battery on the "DRIVER" (first unit paired) will deplete 2 hours before the other one goes. Units get HOT at full volume - so encasing them is probably not wise. Hold them arms length apart and slightly behind your ears -- crazy CRAZY crazy stereo. Buy some DSD songs online and run them in the Onkyo HF app with the plug-in installed and ON. This is the first brush with audiophile on an 8core samsung s7edge. I understand the LG V20 has multiple DAC onboard now -- so I'm probably looking at least at a used one of those to try on for size. DAC on a phone and then next generation will be 1gig LTE data transfer -- probably on verizon/sprint, as AT&T is digging in with fiber.

    Thanks for this, it's the only video I found on youtube about that stereo mode ! (Btw, just so you know files as big as DSD will not be able to be streamed through bluetooth before some years, so I'm not sure DSD upscaling is useful here, but again HF player might be doing it in a especially good way !) Can you connect the speakers through the app and then connect them to a non android device for example ?

    Just a tip for anyone using this. I found that having the beoplay app open whilst playing music causes stutter. So once you pair them in stereo close the app, not just in the background but properly closed.

    Tony thx for the great video! Do you have to do the stereo pairing with the app every time you are using? If not pls explain how it is setup..

      @tonyd3266  6 років тому

      on the latest rom flash you can pair units together in stereo and THEN add them to your phone bluetooth without the app. they pair automatically by holding the bluetooth button until flashing WHITE on both units. then they both beep. next you pair just one of them to the phone (have your phone bluetooth off until they are paired together) works good.

    Do i need to play it with the phone to work in stereo?
    Or after pairing them they will be in stereo with any device (pc for example)?

    • @tonyd3266
      @tonyd3266  4 роки тому

      If paired to each other they play in stereo... but one speaker does all the send receive work so its battery drains much faster. I've elevated to running them on USB C cords on Lion battery packs if outside patio or cords on old USB power adapters across the room from each other. What's best is to zip tie one on each corner of a 10×10 tent out of sight at festivals and people walking by stop and emerse in the sound. I never tell them it's a $600+ 1000 phone stereo..

    Does it work with a MacBook? If so, can they still output stereo sound? Or do you always need a phone? I'm considering buying a second one since I would like to use them as a stereo setup for my Mac. Thanks.

      Joe- demo online for the beoplay A2 pairing for stereo . It’s the same manual procedure for the A1’s . So you really don’t need the app.

      Thanks, would you say it’s stable? And easy to set up once you get the hang of it? Or is it tedious? I’m debating wether to get another unit or not.

  • @tonyd3266

    If you get the NEW A1s its all the more important to pair to JUST ONE (install the 2nd one solo and inside the app too and then delete the pairing). This is mind numbing that its not explained. On a version 12 android the phone only plays right or left. Now have a green and a black speaker. I paired both and deleted the pair for the black. reboot everything thing. Pair phone to the green one - its the driver. The black one is secondary. Open the app and pair the green to the black. Now we have awesome stereo again. This is my second set of A1s. Also realize the green battery will drain much faster. At festivals I get a 10-20K LION battery pack with 3 outputs and 3 long cords - it will run several days. These A1s blow away everything else ive heard.

      Bao Pico - where they bought at B&O store or discounted online? I did see that allibabba is selling knockoff units of these now at 50% price. I'm unsure of the quality of those units.

      I dropped mine on the road (sprang out of my holder i didn't secure) and the face shell twirled off and it rolled across the street, denting the aluminum shell. Lightly tapping on the inside of the dent hammered out. twisting 10mm back on and click -- on the road again. no problems with it.
      I do notice if we use them for 30 minutes and dont recharge -- like 4 days later there is only 2-3 hours charge left. must be something about lion. when I need to change out the batteries I've wondered if there is a higher capacity one to swap in -- let's look for A1 B&O hacks.

      Theres not a designated app for Ipad, but its possible to use the IOS Iphone app on an Ipad. Its also possible to pair two speakers in stereo without the app, just using the BT connect buttons.

    • @tonyd3266
      @tonyd3266  7 років тому

      Is the stereo quality the same, higher, or less if you compare the B&O app to IOS-iPAD with a pair of BT speakers paired in stereo.

    I received this yesterday and connected it via Bluetooth to my windows PC as well iphone. When I am playing music from iPhone, the audio pauses whenever I receive a mail on my PC or other such events. Then I have to hit play again. Has anyone experienced this problem? Anyway to fix this?

    • @tonyd3266
      @tonyd3266  2 роки тому +1

      Yes. I have to off notifications and/or turn off cellular calls - im using andriod so switches are different. for mine the music volume decreases for 2 sec on incoming call if not turned off. I sometimes use these at events and have to turn off the phone functions and pause emails to avoid disruptions.

      With the latest firmware update on the A1 feb 2018, the b&o app is NO LONGER REQUIRED for stereo, but it is an option to EQ and enhance the sound. After updating your firmware, To do this 1. ensure neither A1 is bluetooth linked to anything for steps 3 on. 2. Ensure ONE a1 is capable of bluetooth to the source OR using a usbc wire connection to source (Or 1/8" plug). 3. On master a1 push and hold in the pairing button until it begins flashing WHITE on the other side led. 4. On slave A2 push and hold the pairing button until it also starts flashing white. 5. Both A1s will now pair to each other. Beeps, etc. It will take a minute sometimes. 6. Next initiate bluetooth pairing from the master or plug in connection. 7. Turn up volume on either A1 unit and source - they are not linked for overall volume control. 8. Max distance for me is 40 feet, with a clear line of site between units. 9. I think stereo sound is better using app, but this is fast and also allows non smartphone sources to use the a1 stereos. 10. Placing the units at ear level slightly behind my ears on each side is best stereo for some acoustic reason, maybe everyone is different, but try it.
