Hey DroningON.co, Great review. I just received my S6 today and I have to say I am kind of impressed with its flight capability even without all of the app functions. I can't wait to see your in depth flight review sometime in the near future. Thanks Again, Cheers.
+Thomas Bryant thanks for your nice comments, unfortunately my filming of the flight test is delayed as I'm waiting for their newest firmware which should solve some of the issues. Watch this space :)
Ash, Like your reviews because you give the right amount of good quality detail (I haven't done any myself yet). I was interested in this bird last year but it then had serious GPS issues so I contacted them for updates, but I never heard anything back. It looks like they've addressed the main problem at least so there's obviously hope for them. The idea of it has to be a winner because of its size and camera resolution, if the stabilisation of the final footage is functional and the app covers all the main modes reliably. The app appears to missing missing waypoint mode at the moment but I'm not so sure that's necessary on what is clearly a selfie drone. However, selfie drones are designed to work in amoungst people so ideally the rotors will be hidden inside ducts and not exposed as they are in this and most of the similar birds. Price wise, I think it's around $350 which I think is ambitious but early adopters are likely to be happy with that. The market has an amazing way of leveling things off in due course and I would expect these to go mainstream at around the $250 mark together with their main competition, i.e. the Dobby. And finally, what happened to part 3, the flight demo?
+Paul Wingfield, thanks for your compliments and feedback, great to hear that we hopefully have a new subscriber! The Wingsland S6 has really turned out to still be a 'project in progress', sadly this is in part due to firmware and app development slowing over the Chinese New Year, plus some bugs which were present in the current firmware which reduced the battery time to less than 1 minute on occasion. Wingsland tell me that they have made some improvements and that the new firmware is enroute, they seem to be pretty communicative and so I am positive that it will happen, but I didn't want to shoot Part 3 until the firmware was stable, consequently I have put it on hold. I have also received some of the Wingsland bolt-on accessories for the S6 and intend to review those too, but again only when the aircraft itself is stable. Watch this space dude, I hope to bring it to you soon and appreciate your support!
+Honest Home Review thanks dude! Sadly Wingsland are taking a while to release their new firmware and I've delayed part 3 u till they have, it's very frustrating but they promise that it will be any day now.
Well, virgin flight. Nice help with the Part 2 in getting started for Dummies... Kind of a long post, but given the S6 issues some have had, perhaps my March 19 newb experience might help folks know where things may be at for me as a newb with an S6 delivered about a week ago, shipped about a month ago... My battery looked like the orangish one that didn't work in Part 3... Mine worked fine for 8 minutes, including some BS time because as a first time user -- showed 20% more when I landed the second time and called it a day. Time burning -- as you noted, one has to mess with android wifi settings so the phone was fine with a no data wifi connection. For starters, the phone's wifi refresh didn't pick up the drone's wifi, I had to toggle the phone's wifi to connect to the drone's wifi. Initially the phone kicked the Wingsland wifi off and picked up the house wifi. Also, as of 3/12/17, the Wingland S6 App was available in Play Store. Updated the Firmware. Rebooted... Everything seemed to work fine... Nice day outside with light breeze. Calibration went fine, perhaps took about 20 seconds to finish after rotations... Kind of seems this process assumes one has a flat place to calibrate, which isn't always the case... On startup, the drone zipped right up to about ten feet. Drifted a bit, but not much... I started carefully flying it around the backyard without problems. The newb practice time on the simulator was very useful. I auto landed after perhaps 5 minutes and double checked the camera and video setups. I'm not sure about how to get the camera or video working as I couldn't find pictures or video in the Gallery though I tried to take photos and video. Perhaps they are lurking somewhere else on the phone? Probably a newb thing... I tried the 'follow me' mode -- the drone never figured out where I was.. There was some message about how that 'connection' failed or something. Could be newb user error? Perhaps it was confused by our nearby house's wifi signals...? I also wasn't sure about how the 'circle me' mode was supposed to work. It just hoovered in place... Again, could be a newb user thing, or app thing... Don't know. I'm thinking newb... 10 minutes battery life isn't a lot of time to dink around testing things... Not crashing was of higher priority for this newb... The auto-land feature worked fine both times -- Landed within 3 ft of the starting point both times. I'm wondering if this would be good enough to auto-land on the rooftop deck. Bonus BS -- Afterwards, I placed the battery in the charger and connected it to a 22 watt folding solar panel. Probably not enough daylight to finish charging it today, but the charge light was working. I'm planning on taking a drone with me off-trail backpacking this summer and the solar panel seems a decent way to recharge the batteries. I may pick up a Mavic for that use, and give the Wingland to a fellow hiker for more intimate selfie shots... (FYI, the Mavic seems to have it's own 'work in progress' issues according to some, though it seems much further along). As for charging in the field, it may be more effective to charge the battery directly off a 15k or 20k USB backup battery, then recharge off the backup battery off the sun. Sort of wish the attachment option on the S6 top included a snap on a battery cradle to add more battery.... Seems the case ought to include room for a second battery given the limited flight time. Oh well... Look forward to getting the camera working and more flight experience next time.
Thanks for the tutorial and sharing. I own the S6, initially i was buying Hover camera but it didn't work on my Samsung galaxy note edge. I would say that the S6 is really not suitable to fly indoor, it just don't hold at its position and not safe to fly. I would strongly recommend to install an propeller guard to prevent accidental crash or injury. More suitable for outdoor use and it would be better to fly in an open field or less crowded area.
Interesting min quad, I can't wait for the part 3, the test flight. Question: have you review the Zerotech Dobby yet? I'm thinking that it's a direct competitor. Great review, your very through and get into the details. Love your channel!
+Ron Brown, I have asked Dobby for a review model to give a comparison. Dobby is far more evolved, the app and firmware is more functional and so of the two, it is the better model at the moment, but The Wingsland S6 is far nicer in build quality and has more hardware potential, and so watch this space :)
DroningON.co And Husban is getting into this space, by modifying the 501 & 502 for Wifi phone control. I think the 502 is priced at $99 US. No folding props but less than a third of the price of the Wingsland or the Dobby. Or the new Ziro mini.
Just checked their website and a new firmware was released 02-10-2017.... S6 Flight Control firmware-1231 Release:2017-02-10 Would love to see if there are any improvements and a flight video. Thx
Can you tell me how to make the flash work? In the application v. 2.1 there is no more voice and with photos on "auto" even in complete darkness the flash remains off. The drone is on, maybe it should have taken off?
+SirN1xy I believe that they'll be out fairly soon and will utilise a direct WiFi link therefore giving extended range. I'll ask the question and update you when I have more. The obstacle avoidance add-on is 6 mo the away.
DroningON.co Thanks a lot! There seems to be some inconsistencies on their various sites. szsungreen has a release from 13th January, it might be in Chinese however! www.szsungreen.com/support.php?SId=1&ProId=33
+greeny 7889, at this time I'd have to say Dobby as it is the only micro folding drone which has proven itself as viable and reliable too. The Wingsland S6 has so much potential but it isn't quite there just yet.
It's the best way to fly it reliably. I can't afford it right now so I just bought the 12 dollar Mi range extender. Which helps a lot but still isn't as good as a real controller. This thing is super sensitive to any interference so also being as far away from civilization helps a ton.
You shouldn't need to trim it, it has GPS and optical flow, therefore it should hold its position by itself BUT only after it has acquired more than 5 satellites.
+Agustin Sanchez I have an issue with my battery and so flight time is only 2-3 minutes at best, it doesn't seem to be charging properly. I am waiting for the replacements which should arrive any day from the manufacturer in China.
Where'd my comments go? I was going to edit one of my messages to say I found your video part 2 of where the gyro mode for the controller is activated. Great vids, keep up the good work.
Apologies +daniel escobar, unfortunately the Dropbox source wasn't mine and it has been removed :( as soon as a new app link is posted, I'll update the video description.
Hey! No worries. I got ahold of a Wingsland rep. Here is the link to the latest firmware. www.dropbox.com/s/n23d51w9j536ffd/WINGSLAND%20FLY%200103.apk?dl=0
+Gerardo Fonseca, at this time, Breeze is the only one of the three which has solid firmware and is reliable. Dobby and the Wingsland are still in development, they both have their issues although of the two, Dobby is further ahead in reliability as it is an older product. But for hardware design and portability, Wingsland have the best of the three but are yet to evolve their firmware to the right level. But, watch this space, a new firmware is out this week!
I'm sorry, your reviews are great but that drone although great looking is a POS! The app sucks, such a shame who releases a fairly expensive drone without a reliable working app?
+CountryBoy Motovlogs I have to agree that the Wingsland S6 seems to be taking a backwards step rather than moving towards improvement. I now have a Dobby and it is just superb, watch out for my reviews coming soon!

No worries. I subscribed and wouldn't miss it!
is it still working?
Very thorough and informative Ash. Looking forward to the flight test.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to it. I need a good selfie quad for summer.
How can I turn on this drone. I can't installing app
Wingsland fly is available on the Apple app store.
+Randy Mewes good update, thanks Randy.
ever since the new update, the battery runs out sooo darn quick, not only that, the camera flickers and freezes. who else is experiencing this?
LinkBizkit Mine is lagging and is on the latest version. changing to 480p crashes the camera, and most of the time the camera doesn't appear at all.
Just checked their website and a new firmware was released 02-10-2017....
S6 Flight Control firmware-1231 Release:2017-02-10
Would love to see if there are any improvements and a flight video. Thx
+Droning Thru Life coming soon I promise, there is another imminent firmware release coming!
Can you tell me how to make the flash work? In the application v. 2.1 there is no more voice and with photos on "auto" even in complete darkness the flash remains off. The drone is on, maybe it should have taken off?
Normally the flash fails if it hasn't been correctly installed.
What.now since the embargo?
Good video. Given your contact with the manufacturer, have you heard when they are planning on releasing the sticks for this quad?
+SirN1xy I believe that they'll be out fairly soon and will utilise a direct WiFi link therefore giving extended range. I'll ask the question and update you when I have more. The obstacle avoidance add-on is 6 mo the away.
DroningON.co your Dropbox link for the app isn't in the description, any chance of getting it? Thanks.
+SirN1xy, thanks for the reminder, I have now added to the video description :) but keep an eye out for a new app as this one is the Dec release.
DroningON.co Thanks a lot! There seems to be some inconsistencies on their various sites. szsungreen has a release from 13th January, it might be in Chinese however! www.szsungreen.com/support.php?SId=1&ProId=33
SirN1xy if by sticks you mean controller them it's around April.
One question you can help me I can not find the option of video stabilization of the drone? The drone is updated.
Looks like they removed EIS some time ago sadly.
DroningON Can you pass me the firmware that EIS has?
What a weird and disappointing move. Any idea why Wingsland would choose to remove EIS?
A shame isn't it, just no sense or logic to it :(
Hi! i just wanna ask i bought the s6 wingsland but the propeller cant be open fully to a stationary position. are you able to advise??
The props will automatically open up once the motors start spinning, you don't need to manually set them to a 'stationary' position.
but when i put the start flying it goes like in a side way direction is there any problem? or is it the callibration?
+Janelle Lim, yes you most likely need to run through calibration again, ensure that when doing so you keep the drone nice and level.
What small drone would u recommend? Based on speed, camera, distance, battery, and features.
+greeny 7889, at this time I'd have to say Dobby as it is the only micro folding drone which has proven itself as viable and reliable too. The Wingsland S6 has so much potential but it isn't quite there just yet.
DroningON.co thx :)
4 years ago and none of the links work today
is this drone is compatible with R6 transmitter
Yes it is!
It's the best way to fly it reliably. I can't afford it right now so I just bought the 12 dollar Mi range extender. Which helps a lot but still isn't as good as a real controller. This thing is super sensitive to any interference so also being as far away from civilization helps a ton.
Another great video many thanks.
How to trimming this drone
You shouldn't need to trim it, it has GPS and optical flow, therefore it should hold its position by itself BUT only after it has acquired more than 5 satellites.
Hi. A question how long does the battery last?
+Agustin Sanchez I have an issue with my battery and so flight time is only 2-3 minutes at best, it doesn't seem to be charging properly. I am waiting for the replacements which should arrive any day from the manufacturer in China.
Where'd my comments go? I was going to edit one of my messages to say I found your video part 2 of where the gyro mode for the controller is activated. Great vids, keep up the good work.
Your comments are still there, infact I'm going through and commenting on them now!
great review!
your Dropbox link is broken. can you fix and repost?
Apologies +daniel escobar, unfortunately the Dropbox source wasn't mine and it has been removed :( as soon as a new app link is posted, I'll update the video description.
Hey! No worries. I got ahold of a Wingsland rep. Here is the link to the latest firmware.

DroningON.co still holding out on this. best looking drone by a mile. it's almost making me angry it's not ready yet on sale.
Part 3 coming tonight, watch this space and sorry for the delay but all will become clear in the video :)
Excellent!
Hi, can you give us, wingsland s6 apk for Android 10. Thks a lot
Thanks my friend.....i almost throw my s6 in the garbage.
