We Stay At A Novotel - This Is A 4-Star Hotel?! 😱

This was our first stay at a Novotel Hotel and despite some very poor reviews we opted to give it a try anyway and we were shocked.
Described as a 4 star, upscale hotel by Hotels.com this Novotel in Bristol, England appealed to us for its city centre location and it's reasonable room rate. But, did it live up to our expectations or were the disgruntled reviewers correct?

I stayed at a Novotel in Paris and it was really nice. Even had a great balcony looking at the Eiffel Tower. I do always get a ‘staying for business’ vibe from Novotel though.
