This is the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame grand opening concert from 1995 in Cleveland. Thank the Lord for musicians like Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Otis Rush, and B.B. King. 🙏🙌✌️
Yeah, its the old Cleveland Municipal Stadium next to the Hall of Fame, which was demolished a few years later for the new Browns stadium following that which will not be named.
I WAS THERE! 9 years old, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert in Cleveland for the opening of the museum! This was the dedication concert at Cleveland Muni Stadium. Bruce and the E Street Band was the house band for the event and played with the likes of Dylan, Berry, Gerry Lee Lewis, Little Richard, etc. It was one HELL of a night. I still have the program my dad bought - it's in its original plastic sleeve. Never been opened.
no shit right.lol Chuck Berry,if you are someone that loves rock music. He is the definition of a rock legend and pioneer. I hate bringing it up because it shouldn't matter. But it was the 50's.A black man playing a new style of music that was hated by anyone over 25. I could go on and on.White kids liked the music, that was huge.Because those kids (like my parents) turned into the young adults that started looking past color and worked to change things. So.its about music, but its also so much more.
You gotta remember - this is the man that invented that duck walk. Others may walk it Jamel, but it is all Chuck Berry! So awesome to see this - thanks man!
Not just the duck walk but all the moves he could make while playing the guitar. I am entertained just by watching how he plays the guitar and the moves he makes while playing it without him even singing.
Before Bruce became famous he and his band backed Chuck Berry at a gig as was Chucks routine - to use a local band to back him and pay them $100 or whatever. Just before they started to play Bruce asked Chuck what songs they were going to do. Chuck replied "were gonna do some Chuck Berry songs." (as per Bruce in the film "Hail Hail Rock and Roll.")
Yes indeed, Chuck Berry was known to use house bands at venues he played. I heard a story Chuck was to play at a venue and the owner/manager asked him Where was his band? Chuck replied...What wrong with yours? You have a house band correct? 😁
I have a friend whose band backed him at a show in New Hampshire. He said it was quite the experience, no rehearsal, no set list, and when Chuck arrived they asked what songs he wanted to do and he said we'll see when when the show starts!
The preface to Chuck Berry's autobiography is Bruce Springsteen telling the story of the time when he was just starting out his band ended up being Chuck's backup band. So this isn't the first time he was on stage with Chuck Berry. If anyone out there hasn't read Chuck Berry's autobiography it is definitely worth reading.
@HasBeen 1559 NASA agrees with you. They put Johnny B. Goode on the Golden Record sent out into space on Voyager. voyager.jpl.nasa.gov/golden-record/whats-on-the-record/music/
Chuck Berry was the real king of rock 'n' roll. I saw Chuck Berry at a small place at Old Chicago Amusement Park in Bolingbrook Illinois in 1978 and I was so close to the stage I could've touched Chuck Berry. Possibly the best concert I ever saw.
GOATS... Every last man on stage! Chuck Berry, Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Vansant, Nils Lofgren, Clarence Clemmons and Max Weinberger! Much love Brother😎🇺🇸
Provided they don't get blocked, you really need to check out more Springsteen and the E Street Band, especially live videos. Bruce still puts on marathon 4 hour concerts with no breaks. And they are incredible live.
I saw Chuck Berry play in Toronto,Canada I swear the first three notes on his guitar he had ever one on there feet, there was no one sitting down for the remainder of the concert, the guy was amazing,R.I.P.
This is great when such talent comes together! Another good one is the Roy Orbison and Friends concert, "Black and White Night" with Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, KD Lang, you name 'em!
Bruce knows there's no Bruce Springsteen without the legends like Chuck Berry that inspired him when he was young. It's great watching him honor the "chain of command" in rock history.
1995 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Opening Ceremony/Concert in Cleveland, OH. I am honored to have been there with my buddies. We drove there from NJ to see Bruce and the boys and this song was the highlight. Bruce and the boys were Chuck Berry's backup band in the early 70s when Chuck played NJ. Greatness all around!!!
I agree with you. I think Bruce Springsteen is just another fan of this great man. I am sure it was one Bruce Springsteen's top highlights of his career to share the stage with this man; this incredible icon in music. Nice reaction.............
The first two songs every guitar player learns are "Smoke on the Water" and "Johnny B. Goode". Every band knows his entire catalog. Chuck never traveled with a band. For every gig the promoter was responsible for hiring the local bar band. Bruce had one of those gigs before he was anybody and always said it was one of the real honors of his career.

Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Muddy Waters etc created Rock and Roll. The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Elvis among others looked up to them and they followed in their footsteps. Give those pioneers the recognition they deserve
Hey Jamel! Love your reactions. Chuck was 69 years old here at this concert and Bruce was wound tight because he was on stage with him. Bruce didn't want to end the song, he wanted Chuck to end it since it was his song which to me shows a lot of respect for the legend. He finally conceded and ended it. Great video.
The LATE GREAT ONE AND ONLY Chuck Berry RIP, yes you could see the look of awe on Bruce's face he respects the man he probably was thinking man I have Chuck Berry on my stage with me! The only other time I have seen that look on Bruce's face was the "Black and White Night Video" with Roy Orbison and the cast of legends who performed with him. Bruce was awe struck by Roy's voice and presence as was all I am sure. That one is worth checking out mate you will love it for sure. Ty totally loved this classic Keep Safe Keep Strong
Johnny B. Goode had a Springsteen sound. Bruce probably didn't care if Chuck was the frontman. Bruce was probably was saying to himself, " I'm playing with Chuck Berry!!!!" It was great when you could hear Bruce say, "Go Chuck!!" when Chuck was doing his thing. And it was good when Chuck gave Bruce the stage to do a solo.
Oh you made a reaction to this one, that is amazing! Chuck Berry was 70 years old here, and still rocking it like no one else. One of the best live performances I have seen. Also I really like how Bruce Springsteen, and the other members of his band, looks at Chuck Berry like little children who look at their hero. :)
Some trivia- Chuck after the 1960s did not keep a touring band. He'd use "pick-up bands" comprised of local musicians. Before Bruce and E Street were signed and well known, they were one of those pick-up bands! Must have been in the early 70s. Chuck played a NJ date, and they backed him up. WTF? Incredible reunion!
*"THE DUCK WALK" This is the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame grand opening concert from 1995 or 96 in Cleveland Ohio, Bruce & the E Street Band were the hosting band and backed many of the stars throughout the evening! I worked for Chuck Berry 7 or 8 dozen times in the mid-Atlantic states, as a roadie and or stage door security for Mr. Berry... He was 90 years old at the time but my oh my! How that brother could play even at 90 years old. May you rest in peace Mr. Berry you so blessed the music world with all of your great woek!

I see the name Bruce Springsteen, I click. This is amazing! Chuck is a legend, but Bruce is a legend in his own right. Btw, I wasn't there, but man I wish I were!
Bruce is very respectful to one of his childhood idols here. That's Chuck Berry! One of the founding fathers if not the original founding father of rock and roll!
Chuck & The Boss.... WHAT MORE COULD MUSIC FANS WANT??? 2 absolute LEGENDS in every sense of the word on the same stage together “rocking the house” 🤘😝🤘 I’ve been lucky enough to have seen Bruce in concert many times but never got to see Chuck play live. This would’ve been awesome to have been there when they got together & anytime Chuck broke out “the step”.... IT WAS GOLDEN!!! 🔥🔥🔥 Awesome video Jamel 👏😁. All the best mate... From 🇦🇺Australia🇦🇺
Springsteen and the E Street Band backed up Berry on Sept. 2, 1995 at the Concert for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Cleveland Ohio. There is a 3 hr material with various artists and collaborations including Bon Jovi feat Eric Burdon, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, James Brown, Aretha, Bob Dylan, Springsteen etc etc. ALmost every song and every act of that night is worth to react..
That move is known as the Chuck Berry "Duck Walk". There's a documentary on his life called "Hail Hail Rock 'n Roll" where he and his sister talk about how the Duck Walk originated.
The Chuck Berry song you gotta check out is "Brown Eyed Handsome Man". Possibly one of the first Rock 'n Roll social commentary songs. It's light hearted and thought provoking with Chuck's trademark poetry.
Chuck Berry was a gifted performer, who set the bar very high. His music is timeless. I wonder howmuch he was influenced by Sister Rosetta Tharpe, who was the Godmother of Rock and Roll.
I was at that concert. Sadly, I don't remember much... but I was there. Al Green was amazing and I seem to recall The Kinks' Ray Davies making a great turncoat reference in regards to his reversible flag jacket.
We call it The Chuck Berry move. He created that move, and I’m sure Angus Young would tell you the same. I’m sure he was in his 70s, and still had it. You can see the excitement on Springsteen’s face just to even be on the same stage with such a legend. He basically created Rock & Roll, along with Little Richard. If you ever watched The Sopranos, the guitarist and backup singer, Little Stevie (wearing the doo-rag), played Silvio on The Sopranos.
Chuck Berry and a lot of players got their stage moves from copying older players like T Bone Walker, who originated Berry's "Duck Walk", and played behind his back and with his teeth. If you Google T Bone Walker, and click on images, you'll see a picture of him playing the guitar behind his head while doing the splits. In an interview he said that when he was young, guitarists busking on street corners would try to gather the biggest crowds (and most tips) by outdoing each other with the best guitar stunts.
In a documentary about. Chuck, Bruce told a story about his band at a club ready to back up chuck but he was late, showed up at the last minute, Bruce asked him what chuck wanted them to do. What kinda songs are we gonna play? Chuck told him we gonna do some Chuck Berry songs..... Awesome! 🎸🔥

Very tasteful how Bruce just hung in the back.
He knows when to be the frontman and when to be the backup band.
Mariah Carey did the same for Aretha Franklin when they sang 'Chain of Fools.'

No doubt just tryin' to keep up. Chuck was notorius for changing song key and structure without warning when playing live.

You’re such amazing 😉,Kindly drop me your hangout just to get in touch with you💯
That move is known as the Chuck Berry "Duck Walk". There's a documentary on his life called "Hail Hail Rock 'n Roll" where he and his sister talk about how the Duck Walk originated.
The move that Chuck Berry made going across the stage was, I believe, known as the Turkey Walk.
Chuck Berry, inventor of the duckwalk and many other things in rock 'n' roll!!
The Chuck Berry song you gotta check out is "Brown Eyed Handsome Man". Possibly one of the first Rock 'n Roll social commentary songs. It's light hearted and thought provoking with Chuck's trademark poetry.
Fantastic! I never dreamed that they were on stage together. Thanks for this reaction. Cheers, Steve

The little girl that grew up next door to us grew up to play a fine guitar. Yep, one of her most requested is “Johnny-B-Good..”

Chuck was famous for that Duck walk !! He can't go as low as he use to here but he still had the moves!!
Yup. Look how many times Bruce steps back in fear and awe. Lol.
Chuck Berry was a gifted performer, who set the bar very high. His music is timeless. I wonder howmuch he was influenced by Sister Rosetta Tharpe, who was the Godmother of Rock and Roll.
This was at the University of Maryland in 1973. Two Legends One Place, Pinballman1
Chuck was great and Springsteen's band was killing it.
I was at that concert. Sadly, I don't remember much... but I was there. Al Green was amazing and I seem to recall The Kinks' Ray Davies making a great turncoat reference in regards to his reversible flag jacket.
If you're seeing this video and it is the first time you've seen Chuck Berry, you know that he's legendary when Bruce Springsteen is singing backup.

Fantastic! 😎🎼🎶🎵🇨🇦
Jamel please react to some of Bruce’s live shows! Ramrod live in Barcelona and Light of Day at Madison Square garden will leave you speechless!
Anybody who has ever played Rock guitar owes a debt to Chuck Berry....true originator.....I believe that move is called the duck walk....
This was from 1995 Rock N Roll Hall of Fame show. The Hall Of Fame opened that year this was the first Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame Concert
RIP Clarence Clemons and Chuck Berry. Clarence best sax man in rock and roll.
"Chuck Berry" the true King of Rock & Roll.
Rock N Roll will never die and Chuck Berry invented Rock N Roll. So Chuck Berry is immortal.
And if you listen to T-Bone Walker’s Stollin with bones you can hear the guitar licks that Chuck Berry uses
Bruce's face is everything
This is so touching, to see so many people of today's generation showing Chuck so much appreciation, love, and enthusiasm.
Awesome! 🎸🔥
love this track it always lifts my spirits😊👍
