You should be more specific about not having a limiter on the mixbus. You definitely want a limiter on the mixbus to protect your speakers from sudden spikes in volume. What you don't want to do is mix into a limiter where you are getting gain reduction from the limiter. There have been bugs with plugins in the past where the volume randomly and suddenly raises. Saturator in Ableton had a rare bug in past where it increased the volume by 100db! Some of the knobs in plugins can be fiddly/bugged which can make you accidentally blow up the volume when adjusting it. So you definitely should have a limiter on the mixbus for protection.
So, a couple critiques but a thank you! 1) Timing your release based on the tempo is fast but not always musical & doesn’t represent the the shuffle or swing of the program material - could have the impact of rhythmically quantizing the content in a negative way. Certain material always tends toward very standard release times because of the nature of it and only need nudging to the right place. 2) Low latency for parallel wont matter much with accurate delay compensation on a bus. This could also be unclear advice because the pre-ringing is partly provoked because of the nature of linear phase processing. It’s applying the processing to the signal backwards, which requires some delay but that’s what causes the sucking effect on transient material. I recommend doing A/B on a parallel bus to actually hear which is better. The phase differential may not be a problem (or could be desired). This could be corrected in other ways. FF Pro Q makes it easy to do this A/B. 3) Thank you 🙏🏾 however for the reminder about using binaural panning as a tool. It’s useful to experiment with that for content that can benefit from more experimental imaging. I forgot about that tool! I think everything I mentioned here you’re already aware of tho. Please let me know if I’m incorrect on anything. This is just based on my understanding & experience. I think everything you mentioned is actually valuable to know about and are useful tools for getting to desired results quickly. Thanks for the vid!
Hello! Love your videos! I tend to find myself lowering the volume when you speak and then turning it up when hearing the examples, I would be great if you could kind of match the level of both things so that your voice is not that much louder than the music examples. thank you for all the knowledge!
I debated with myself on whether to keep the music the same level as my voiceovers or make the music louder. And I think the way to go is music louder so people don't miss the details/nuance!
While it might be generally advisable not to mix into a limiter, knowing how that limiter is going to affect your sound can be very useful - which is why some do mix into one from the start. I don't think this part is too well explained or justified. Of course if you're mixing hard into the limiter, you'll end up fighting it - which isn't great. But if that limiter is part of your sound, and/or you know you're going to use one anyway, then I think it's useful to have one set up so that you know how things are going to be coloured, how your dynamics will sound etc. Ultimately neither approach is incorrect, it's about your workflow and of course, the end result.
It means while u mixing there should not be a limiter on the master bus but when u get read to master put a limiter on your master bus and raise volume
Mixing lofi has always baffled me, I can never seem to get the low end right and it pretty much turned me off from producing the genre. I’d appreciate this as well!
So.... I've watched four of the ten tips and none of the "before and after" examples have sounded different at all to me....... I think I need better headphones.

what ever sounds good buddy : )
I’m in love with your videos. You guys help me so much
every single tutorial you guys have made has been useful and elevated my mixing to the next level👌
Your channel is gold!
Sage audio you the best thanks for being always here to taking to road of success each new day .

Ironic, isn't it ?

Please, more detail about BPM influencing the attack& release of a compressor's settings! I feel like Reverb use is a bittt more known.
« Keep things simple » such a great advice
Like always great tutorial I just recently gotten into engineering and you guys have made it so easy
What do you actualy mean do not mix with the limiter on the mix bus, im not supposed to put the limiter on the master bus? Or...?

Hey, is that you singing on the example song you used in this video? haha
P.s.: great video as always! Thank you!
You said let's listen to 2 Chains, Thought we were about to get lit for a second 😆
How do I know if I want a predelay/release time of a 1/4 note, 1/2 note etc?
Hey sage audio , can u make a tips for anime lofi mixing . For example kijugo and kayou stuff or even L.Dre . That would be great 🖤🙏🤌🏻
Mixing lofi has always baffled me, I can never seem to get the low end right and it pretty much turned me off from producing the genre. I’d appreciate this as well!
@@ghostplayermusic relatable 😭
lol, I'm still learning.
@@Kijugo damn bro u caught me in ultra 4k 😂, nah bro u being humble , ur lofi is god lvl 🖤
Thanks! Great job!
0:48 I really hoped you would play a 2Chainz song 😂

Wonderful, especially Linear Phase part. Also, is there any chance that you are the singer? :)
Great video
I wish you had more viewers
why Saturn knobs look different, is it different skin?)
It’s Saturn v2
@@edoardomenta6703 jeez I know, still big knobs are different color
"Have another nightcap".
Thanks in advance!
2 chains, 4 bracelets- 2 Chainz
Every time I watch these videos, I have to DJ the volume knob. The examples are always too quiet and the lecture is too loud. What gives?
eq, saturation and compressor, less is more
Thanks for watching!
"Let's listen to 2 Chainz"
please!! use better music example this music wasn't a very good choice to hear the dynamics
