Angelina no doubt is on a level that is far beyond anyone's reach, past and present she is just the complete package especially that down to earth humbleness she possesses is just a pleasure to behold, I hope her and her family are blessed with healthy and long life.
I wouldn't say she's interpreting the songs as much as she seems to be channeling the vibe the song embodies. She's definitely from another Era and I love it, every moment this Girl sings is a moment of getting lost in the music. She really is a treasure musically as well as emotionally, she really takes you into the song and that's a very very rare Talent. In the old days my Grandmother would tell us people like Angelina are old Souls, people who live in out time but are from another Era. Whether it's reincarnation or the brain somehow able to reach back and channel a vibe, either way her talent is limitless.

The thing with Angelina in addition to her magical rich voice is that she understand that less is more. Just because you can doesn't mean that you should, and she knows this. She dos not growl in every song, or go for the big drama and high volume, she interpreters the song much more deeply and delivers heartfelt renditions without the flash and bang, instead being subtle in the way she chooses to use her voice.
I saw an interview where she said that when she sings it takes her to a place where music was endless and she is happiest when she is singing. Lucky for us she takes us with her.

I think singers and musicians are able to pick up on just how rare her talent is better than the average person. You mentioned when she rolls her eyes back. Angelina has said that when sings, she goes into a magical world in her head. I think if she had her way, she would sing most of the time with her eyes closed. Great reaction to one of the best in the world imo. She blew me away with her cover of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and she was only 10! Her covers of Adele songs are incredible as are those of other greats like James Brown, Amy Winehouse, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, to name a few. Those would be great to react to as well. She was 10 in this & 9 in "I Put A Spell On You." AMAZING! For some recent videos, I recommend "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You," "The Show Must Go On," "A Natural Woman," "It's A Man's World" & "California Dreamin'." Each is beautiful. She turned down an invitation last year to be on Americas Got Talent: The Champions 1. Apparently, Simon made her an offer she couldn't refuse this year to be on AGT The Champions 2, along with 39 other acts. It will be aired on Jan 6, 2020 @ 8 PM Eastern Standard Time on NBC.
You might find it interesting to spend a little time listening to her other channel that is put out by her grandmother . and you will see a lot of rehearsals videos of her growing up that will give you a lot of insight into her love of jazz. There is even a short clip of her singing Whitney Houston while laying in her crib at 18 months old. She started listening to Jazz as soon as she was able to negotiate You Tube, and when she found a song she liked she played it over and over again , not only learning the song but learning English.She is a remarkable young lady. In an interview, Angelina Jordan said one of her singing heroines was Dinah Washington. I listened to some of Washington's recordings. It is very apparent that Angelina's intonations & phrasing are patterned on that of Washington's, BUT she makes each song her own by changing her timbre. Angelina Jordan is a musical savant. An extraordinary example of Angelina's phrasing and the "negative space" that you so often mention is her IG cover of "Wicked Game". She's accompanying herself on the keyboard. In this link, she writes, "Just having fun on my corner with Wicked Game" after the first phrase, it changes to the better mic, and distracting photos. Just listen to her the first time with your eyes closed. It's an amazing demonstration of the maturity of her art. I often listen to it, eyes shut, before shutting things down for the evening. I think it's from about a year ago, so she's 12, nearing 13. I believe that she's been attending the Oslo Waldorf school since she was very young, like months old. If you aren't familiar with this teaching method, philosophy, it might help to explain parts of her development, as music is encouraged from the earliest age. You mentioned, tongue in cheek, I suspect, reincarnation in your first video of her. I heard that she did on some of them & even corrected the orchestra on a part they did wrong. When I listen to her I think of 2 people: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart & Sviatoslav Richter. It is said that Mozart 'heard' every part of his orchestrations, in his head, at the same time. Richter was an absolute purest; he played every piece exactly as the composers wrote them. One time, Richter found out that he actually was playing one piece wrong & I believe he had the recording (album) pulled, & re-recorded it. This is what I hear in Angelina- completeness, yet with stripped-down simplicity.

The midsummer celebration is actually very different in Norway and Sweden. In Sweden they have kept much more of the old tradition, like flower crowns and dancing around a pole covered in flowers (a phallus symbol). In Norway the church worked hard around 1500-1600 to suppress the old heathen traditions, and replace it with modern upstanding tradions like burning women accused for being witches. Today we still have big bonfires in Norway, but without any visible connection to witch burning. I think in Denmark it is still somewhat common with a straw doll representing the witch. If you do a google image search on 'midsummer Norway', 'midsummer Sweden' and 'midsummer Denmark' you will get an impression of the difference. Anyway, this concert was located close to the border between Norway and Sweden and is called 'Sing-along at the border'.

Nice you think it's common to use floral ornaments here in Norway, yes, they use it in Sweden mid summer celebration. I think of Frida Karla and eccentric and artistic and aesthetic and lush. This show right here is slightly related to "Beste Zangers",it is not the "Everytime We Meet" i talked about in another video. This is on English "Singsong On The Border". The show is shot close to the border between Norway and Sweden. The concept is to have Norwegian and foreign artists come to the show,and sing old or new popular songs,and the public can sing along with them. It started out as a test project,but it became so popular that they now are up to 13 seasons i believe,this year will potentially be the 14th. Haddaway,Johnny Logan,Belinda Carlisle,Sandra Kim,Katrina from Katrina & The Waves are some of the 80s-90s hitmachines that have performed earlier on this show. So it has the same good vibe feel to it as "Beste Zangers",eventhough its a different concept. The original concept is Swedish,its where it all started,and TV2 Norway bought the rights to send it on TV in Norway. It started out with only Norwegian and Swedish artists,but TV2 expanded it abit,taking in international artists who would come. Angelina Jordan was 10 when performing here.

I fully agree with you Rusty. Among all of her 100 covers, "My funny Valentine " is a diamond. Mainly because this is how far she has gone into Jazz 'territory' . Secondly this is a song I believed was impossible for anyone younger than 25 to sing. My favorite version, from the Norwegian singer Radka Toneff did it just before she died at the the age of 30.
"My Funny Valentine" is a very hard song & this version at 9 yo is a gem. I would really like to hear what she could do with it now that her voice has matured.
I would love to hear your take on Angelina's latest performance going viral (Bohemian Rhapsody), particularly in the context of what you have said about the SCowell franchise. I love this girl and her beautiful soul. Like many of her fans, I feel protective of her (maybe because she is still a child?) and it worries me that she is now going into the mouth of the Hollywood beast. Angelina Jordan has to be the reincarnation of Billie Holiday, Nina Simon, Amy Whinehouse and I'm sure I've missed one or two jazz singers. And she writes songs as well as does her own arrangements! What an authentic, original, and incredible talent!
I don't know a soul that can listen to her without a smile on their face, a tear in their eye and goosebumps on their arms...she's pure joy...emphasis on PURE. Her voice is like the beauty of morning sunlight filtering through the finest cut crystal....just...jaw droppingly beautiful.

As Angelina's journey in music continues, it is evident she is experimenting and exploring different genres of music while maintaining her own vocal style. You stated that jazz vocal styles are not intuitive, but I sense in Angelina a kind of intuition when it comes to phrasing and vocal technique. I imagine she has had professional coaching and vocal training along the way, together with a lot of time practicing...and it shows. I feel the best part of her vocals is her ability to give the listener the full emotional content that a song has. And she does this with a relaxed confidence that is just amazing! I am in my late seventies, and I hope to live long enough to see what Angelina does with her own material. I am sure we the listeners are in for a legendary treat! Thanks for coming back to Angelina! I really enjoy your educated insights on her. The best reactions to her come from people that really know singing and/or music. I think singers and musicians are able to pick up on just how rare her talent is better than the average person. You mentioned when she rolls her eyes back. Angelina has said that when sings, she goes into a magical world in her head. I think if she had her way, she would sing most of the time with her eyes closed. BTW: Angelina is 10 in this video.

I have to tell you this - hearing your comments is almost as good as listening to her sing, your description is so very precise, I would know who you were describing without seeing or hearing the performance ! . . Thank you for your great reaction to wonderful Angelina. The fact that she did I Put A Spell On You when she was 8 told me she had more than just vocal coaching, I feel she is an old soul. She does a lot of Jazz & Blues, Billie Holiday and does covers of many popular songs like of Leslie Gore & she covers a Queen song and mostly only male singers cover it.

Great reaction to one of the best in the world imo. She blew me away with her cover of The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and she was only 10! Her covers of Adele songs are incredible as are those of other greats like James Brown, Amy Winehouse, Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, to name a few. Those would be great to react to as well. I, for whatever reason, cannot stop listening to her. I found that listening to the originals after she covers them, only makes them flatter or somehow less interesting. Just my opinion. She was 10 in this & 9 in "I Put A Spell On You." AMAZING! For some recent videos, I recommend "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You," "The Show Must Go On," "A Natural Woman," "It's A Man's World" & "California Dreamin'." Each is beautiful. She turned down an invitation last year to be on Americas Got Talent: The Champions 1. Apparently, Simon made her an offer she couldn't refuse this year to be on AGT The Champions 2, along with 39 other acts. It will be aired on Jan 6, 2020 @ 8 PM Eastern Standard Time on NBC.

You might find it interesting to spend a little time listening to her other channel that is put out by her grandmother . and you will see a lot of rehearsals videos of her growing up that will give you a lot of insight into her love of jazz. There is even a short clip of her singing Whitney Houston while laying in her crib at 18 months old. She started listening to Jazz as soon as she was able to negotiate You Tube, and when she found a song she liked she played it over and over again , not only learning the song but learning English.She is a remarkable young lady. In an interview, Angelina Jordan said one of her singing heroines was Dinah Washington. I listened to some of Washington's recordings. It is very apparent that Angelina's intonations & phrasing are patterned on that of Washington's, BUT she makes each song her own by changing her timbre. Angelina Jordan is a musical savant. She also plays the piano, violin, and flute.

An extraordinary example of Angelina's phrasing and the "negative space" that you so often mention is her IG cover of "Wicked Game". She's accompanying herself on the keyboard. In this link, she writes, "Just having fun on my corner with Wicked Game" after the first phrase, it changes to the better mic, and distracting photos. Just listen to her the first time with your eyes closed. It's an amazing demonstration of the maturity of her art. I often listen to it, eyes shut, before shutting things down for the evening. I think it's from about a year ago, so she's 12, nearing 13. I believe that she's been attending the Oslo Waldorf school since she was very young, like months old. If you aren't familiar with this teaching method, philosophy, it might help to explain parts of her development, as music is encouraged from the earliest age. You mentioned, tongue in cheek, I suspect, reincarnation in your first video of her. She doesn't really have to make money because she came from a very well established family. And that's good because it helps make her intention with regards to music pure. Wow! Angelina's rendition of "Wicked Games" is fabulous. Does anyone know if she does all the arrangements for her songs? I heard that she did on some of them & even corrected the orchestra on a part they did wrong. When I listen to her I think of 2 people: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart & Sviatoslav Richter. It is said that Mozart 'heard' every part of his orchestrations, in his head, at the same time. Richter was an absolute purest; he played every piece exactly as the composers wrote them. One time, Richter found out that he actually was playing one piece wrong & I believe he had the recording (album) pulled, & re-recorded it. This is what I hear in Angelina- completeness, yet with stripped-down simplicity.

The midsummer celebration is actually very different in Norway and Sweden. In Sweden they have kept much more of the old tradition, like flower crowns and dancing around a pole covered in flowers (a phallus symbol). In Norway the church worked hard around 1500-1600 to suppress the old heathen traditions, and replace it with modern upstanding tradions like burning women accused for being witches. Today we still have big bonfires in Norway, but without any visible connection to witch burning. I think in Denmark it is still somewhat common with a straw doll representing the witch. If you do a google image search on 'midsummer Norway', 'midsummer Sweden' and 'midsummer Denmark' you will get an impression of the difference. Anyway, this concert was located close to the border between Norway and Sweden and is called 'Sing-along at the border'.

Is Norway big on old-timey jazz?
This show right here is slightly related to "Beste Zangers",it is not the "Everytime We Meet" i talked about in another video. This is on English "Singsong On The Border". The show is shot close to the border between Norway and Sweden. The concept is to have Norwegian and foreign artists come to the show,and sing old or new popular songs,and the public can sing along with them. It started out as a test project,but it became so popular that they now are up to 13 seasons i believe,this year will potentially be the 14th. Haddaway,Johnny Logan,Belinda Carlisle,Sandra Kim,Katrina from Katrina & The Waves are some of the 80s-90s hitmachines that have performed earlier on this show. So it has the same good vibe feel to it as "Beste Zangers",eventhough its a different concept. The original concept is Swedish,its where it all started,and TV2 Norway bought the rights to send it on TV in Norway. It started out with only Norwegian and Swedish artists,but TV2 expanded it abit,taking in international artists who would come. Angelina Jordan was 10 when performing here.

I fully agree with you Rusty. Among all of her 100 covers, "My funny Valentine " is a diamond. Mainly because this is how far she has gone into Jazz 'territory' . Secondly this is a song I believed was impossible for anyone younger than 25 to sing. My favorite version, from the Norwegian singer Radka Toneff did it just before she died at the the age of 30.
"My Funny Valentine" is a very hard song & this version at 9 yo is a gem. I would really like to hear what she could do with it now that her voice has matured.
I would love to hear your take on Angelina's latest performance going viral (Bohemian Rhapsody), particularly in the context of what you have said about the SCowell franchise. I love this girl and her beautiful soul. Like many of her fans, I feel protective of her (maybe because she is still a child?) and it worries me that she is now going into the mouth of the Hollywood beast. She seems to have good people on her side and a good head on her shoulders. But the Hollywood machine has chewed up and spitted out many.
