Some of my best photos have been accidental catches. That is just the story of my life. I went to the Grand O'le Opry , ( in Nashville, Tn. ), years ago. My wife wanted a picture of whoever was on stage at the time. We were in the balcony, 50mm lens, shooting slides. When I got the slides processed... my picture had caught the flash from another photographer at the right side of the stage. It looks so cool. I carry a camera often and sometimes catch a good shot... but mostly my photography is just so-so. I will try to make it "a habit " as you say and to be more watchful.
After 47 years of the hobby I use my mobile on a daily basis to photographer something when the opportunity presents itself. Even when carrying a camera. As you mentioned being alert is the key to stay switched on and ready for that moment . Over time awareness becomes a habit. Thank you for the video, always informative and enjoyable.
Hi, I really enjoy your videos, but more so your use of shadows/negative space. I'm just trying to change from a snapper to a photographer, not a simple process. Thanks for the inspiration I have found from your work.
@@rupertvandervell A great choice Rupert. I find that a small camera that fits into a pocket is far more likely to come out with me than a DSLR needing its own bag. Thanks for the reply.
You are a great Artist and spokes person for your work and science. Thank You.
I have captured some great images at airports. Sometimes I actually welcome the extra time a delayed flight provides for photography.

Rupert, what camera do you use as an everyday carry (other than iphone)? Greats vids, always succinct and very helpful, thanks.
Thanks David! My carry everywhere camera is an old Olympus EM5 with 20mm f1.7.

Hi do you take your photos in colour and then turn them to b/w or take in b/w
I shoot in colour, just in case I decide I prefer it.
