    FAQ
    What materials did you use?
    Thin 2mm eva foam wrapped with Worbla. Primed with white glue and then painted. The sleeve underneath is lycra.
    What is the "brown thing
    It is Worbla

      Just one more question (Sorry for annoying)
      How much Worbla do you need for it? Or how much would you recommend?

    • @GeazakiCosplay
      @GeazakiCosplay  6 років тому +2

      Koi Koyota ohh no no no ask all you want don't worry. I'm just pinning this comment up here because this is a very common question.
      I am not exactly sure how much would be necessary, the sheat I use in the video is a jumbo size, the biggest there is, but I only used something like 1/3 of it. I always recommend getting a jumbo size because it gets cheaper as it gets bigger, ofc. I am not familiar with the smaller sizes, though.

      Was it difficult to move your arm around in this? Also, that three tipped piece that went into the shoulder piece, how does that attach so it doesn't come out or restrict movement?

    Is it only me, or does she remind me of winery when she was making Ed's automail when he broke it, and had to wait three days. xD Only me?

      Ahaha, I actually joked about that back when I was planning on building this.
      I was very sure I couldn't do it in one week, but then commented "Winry had 3 days to make it, I can do it in a week" And I did it in a damn week!!!

    • @GeazakiCosplay
      @GeazakiCosplay  4 роки тому +1

      Worbla is a thermoplastic. Plastic that becomes malleable with heat.
      It's incredibly durable, very easy to work with, requires no glue because it bonds to itself beautifully.
      To me it's a lot easier to control than Eva foam, but that's a matter of preference. Of course the downside is that it's expensive.

I'm wanting to do Edward Elric's automail arm, but I can't find any worbla or a template to go off of... If you could get back to me, it would mean the world. This is my first time making armor at all and I'm freakishly nervous.

      Hi!
      I'm sorry, I made this years ago and I didn't keep any of my sketches. I didn't think to make patterns to sell at the time :( most of the pieces are shown open flat in the video, I believe it's quite helpful.
      Worbla is not absolutely necessary, you can use 8mm Eva foam as a cheaper alternative. Worbla however is sold in several online shops. I usually get my rolls from cosplayshop.be.
      I have considered making a pattern to sell some time in the future, but for now I don't really have the time, as I'm working on props for clients full time.
      This was my first ever armour project too. And I think it turned out quite nicely. You got this!

      I can't lift my arm too much because the shoulder piece is glued in place. My fingers have full range of motion, my wrist and my elbow move alright but don't bend all the way. I can't open or close lids, or use my phone with my right hand. Going to the toilet is also an interesting experience XD but I can do well with only one arm for conventions.

    • @GeazakiCosplay
      @GeazakiCosplay  6 років тому

      Normal white glue also called wood glue. We usually coat worbla because it has a rough surface and the glue makes it smoother. It's also used for foam because foam sucks up all the paint and glue covers the pores before you paint

      Hi!
      I'm not exactly sure how to help you. I didn't know how to make tutorials at the time of making this video. I just hoped showing my process could be useful.
      I'm not sure what to say that could be helpful.
      I made all the pieces by trial and error. If you wouldn't be comfortable using worbla, I suggest maybe trying 5mm Eva foam.
      Builds like this may seem daunting for someone who's getting started. But if it means anything, this was the first time I ever made a sort of armour project. Sometimes we have to let go of fear and just try.

      That's ordinary white glue, or wood glue. you simply apply a few coats with a brush that makes the surface smoother. You can dilute in a bit of water if you wanna make it a little less thick
