i dont complain about companies watering their fragrances. i just dont buy anymore. its sad, bud the only tool we have is spend our money wisely. tks for the video. Greetings from Brasil.
Every time a fragrance UA-camr asks: What would you like me to talk about? My answer: reformulation. Thank goodness I finally found someone talking about it. Reformulation for profit is criminal and demonstrates no respect for the consumers. I got into indie houses specifically because I found some that don't reformulate for profit.
@@ScentsWithBenefits me? My biggest puzzle with my fragrance journey is the takeover of ambroxan within perfumery. I must be way in the minority, but I really don't like the smell of ambroxan. It's becoming the base of almost everything that comes out. It used to be mostly designer frags overdoing it and especially cheapies, but now Niche is leaning hard into the trend. With the popularity of Sauvage and Invictus- which are absolute ambroxan bombs- and the age of "blue" (ambroxan based) fragrances still growing stronger, I have trouble finding anything I like. Ambroxan is great as a fixative for longevity, no doubt. I find it commonly increased in reformulations as the other ingredients are thinned out. I think it smells awful and chemically harsh. In the deep dry down of all ambroxan based fragrances, there's nothing left except the smell of ambroxan. I understand this is a very specific topic. No need to do a video on it, especially because most people clearly love the smell of ambroxan (??!). I would immensely enjoy hearing your thoughts in a response here, though.
Guerlain Vetiver. The biggest disappointment- Ralph Lauren Polo Green. Loved it in the early 90’s. Honestly, I can’t stand it nowadays. I got a new bottle 2 years ago and couldn’t believe how bad it became. Tried several times since then hoping that it will get better with time but it’s still the same. I keep the bottle just because of the sentiment
buy decants before buying the big bottles. and search in foruns. its what i do. if i like the decant i dont care if is the OG formula or a reformulated one.
I wanted to go down memory lane and buy some old fragrances I wore.. all of them were not the same. Pierre Cardin, Jacomo, Lagerfeld, Christian Dior, Kouros
Today I went with a proven classic - Bleu De Chanel EDT from around 2016 👍 Last night I wore Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense. Keep the videos coming, man 🙌👍
Thank you so much for this!! I thought I was going crazy!! The last few bottles of one of my fave scents, (Burberry Classic Woman) seemed like it didn’t last at all anymore. I thought I was losing my sense of smell with age & it was just my nose, but then I realized, I used to get compliments every time I wore it…but I no longer do. I used to be able to smell it on my clothes the next day, but not even an hour later can I smell it now. I then started to notice the same thing with most of my other faves. While I appreciate this info, it’s also very discouraging as oak-moss is in almost all of my faves. I can’t keep wasting my money on pretty bottles of colored water. 😔
SOTD: La fille de Berlin. Thank you for introducing me to this fragrance, it smells like a dark red, almost black rose. I found myself sniffing my wrist throughout the day because it smells THAT good! For a reformulation of an old favorite: wish I still had the old bottle, but I don't recall Ralph Lauren's Safari for women smelling heavily of marigold. I don't like it as much as I did in the late 80s. Edited for spelling errors.
Narciso Rodriguez For Him Bleu Noir EDP The reason why I tend to often go for clones nowadays. Why should I pay for e.x. Bleu de Chanel if I can get Maison Alhambra's clone for 5x less and scent is basically the same with same performance.
I have definitely noticed that with Pacco Pabbane Pour Homme. Although I was just a kid in the 80's even I can tell you that it used to be much stronger with the oakmoss and a little less soapy. I don't really mind it's current reformulation though because I find it more wearable and slightly tweaked to be more appealing to today's market. I don't know if anyone else would find PRPH appealing in today's market besides me though. lol
Dolce & Gabbana pour femme is a prime example of this …my all time favoutite scent since the 90’s and then they reformulated it and its not even close to the original….that one pissed me off lol, i havetorely on private sellers now to find it and its become so rare to find the original it cost hundreds when ido!!
One of my saddest is LDBS By Kilian, it barely lasts now and I wore it for years, it was very strong with a lovely neroii note that bit through the sugar, it's a shadow of its former self now.
The Le Male reformulation is heart breaking. The 1990s version was more sharp and distinctive, still had the pleasant cool down. Now it’s lacking that specific opening.
Wearing Precious Liquid Salt and Pepper today! At first I thought it was unique but not my favorite but WOW it's grown on me. Thank you for all the videos you've done with Richard! I cannot believe how many samples he sent with my relatively small order
Do a video where you talk about why fragrances are being discontinued...I can't understand why they stopped the production for One Milion Prive....which was and it is the best one milion ever
It's basically two reasons, it's not popular and it's not bringing in enough money to cover production and to inflate the value of the fragrance to bring in more money for the company.
How about Gucci pour homme a few years ago..? Square low bottle.. woody scent. Amazing. Just stopped making it?! I still cannot figure out why would they get rid of a successful scent..
Wearing L'eau des Immortels de Voyages Imaginaires. I would love to see influencers becoming actually passionate and dig into real independent & creative houses and not just hyped brands.
SOTD JPG Le Beau Le Parfum. I usually get a big bottle to make sure I have plently of the current formulation. It would be nice if they reformulate fragrances to at least keep them on par with the logevity of the original.
Another reason for reformulation is the scarcity or difficulty of getting certain ingredients (and their cost). For me, the changes in Le Male, Fierce, and Aventus are the most noticeable.
My scent of the day is Missoni pour home !! I loved GIT for years but was so disappointed with it now that I have kept a decant and use tres unit or other clones day to day but keep my original for special occasions
Hey Kamil interesting topic. I actually just received a vintage Le Male BPI Bottle Sealed and in perfect condition. This was released in 2010 as a limited edition called Le Male "Super Collector" look it up. I cant wait to compare to the now Le Male Version.
Chanel Allure Sport and D&G The One are a mere fraction of what they once were. Those two were my favorite but I don’t even bother buying them anymore. I used Chanel from 2003-2014 and D%G from 2009-2015.
Afnan Supremacy Not Only Intense feels like a bait and switch to me. It was hyped big time as a BEAST mode performer when it was released and I believe it probably was. It was reformulated after only 2 years of being out! ,fells like a scam to me. I finally bought it last year in the new formulation and although it's performance is decent it's definitely not "beast mode" anymore.

Thank you Jason but now the big question remains.. What would you like me to talk about next? 🫡

Same for Aqua Di Gio. 10-15 years ago it was stronger and lasted so much more. Now it's thinner and barely lasts a few hours.
yeah its a shame
Its the same with Dior!
How do we know when exactly something is reformulated, because surely the fragrance company does not make it common knowledge?
I would say by subscribing

SOTD:Dior Homme Sport 2021. My 2024 bottle has just been reformulated and so watered down ,its a waste of money.
same here...its basically a lemonade in 2024..completely useless and waste of money
Thank you so much for this!! I thought I was going crazy!!

So glad you like my recommendation!
Dior Addict use to be remarkable.
Unfortunately, I no longer wear it due to the reformulation a number of years ago.
That sucks
@@ScentsWithBenefits yes indeed.

In reality, virtually every organic material has the potential to trigger an allergic reaction.
does it smell like water and a bit of scent in it
because the one i got smells like that
ITS BAD
Okay 😜
I have a bad scent memory from an ex boyfriend! I can’t smell this fragrance without it triggering me ! 😭🤣
What's the fragrance? 😁
I wear Bleu de Chanel Edp, 2023 December batch. I don't suggest buy it...
Profumo today and Ultra Male
Yes, the programmed obsolescence theory could be one of the reasons for reformulations
