This video literally just saved me 430 dollars i went and bought a new one ....watched this as i got back home....gave it a shot and it worked!! Thank you so much!
Was about to gets scammed I tipped the mower the wrong way to clean the blade and it flooded the filter I couldn’t get it to work but this fixed it you saved me 200$ thank you so much!!
Dude. thank you for the video. This was my problem, Guy wanted to charge me 250$ to fix. I looked up the video while he was talking. grabbed my mower an bailed. fixed an 30m of my time. thanks
I poured an insane amount of oil in my lawn mower and this happened to me. I am literally exactly like the guy in the video. "Man this guy put a lot of oil in this". Lol. Oh the shame! I thought I broke my mower. Thank you a million times for this video. Took out the spark plug took out the air filter wiped them down...it was smokey like a forest fire for about 5 minutes straight .....but she's back! Liked. Subscribed. Eternally grateful.
hey man. thank you so much. I'm a single lady, and without venting in a frustrating tirade about how I've bought 3 mowers in 3 yrs, and they've all been destroyed by either a brother, an uncle or a nephew 😡🤦♀️, I OFTEN find myself in situations where I have to fix/repair/pay to repair things myself. I have a lawn mower, brand new, used twice by me, twice by my nephew. my nephew somehow decided the mower needed more oil last time he used it. NOW that i go to use it, the mower deck is covered w/ oil, and is smoking... I have to wait for the hardware store to open to buy a filter, but i'm confident from your video that I can probably get my "brand new" mower back to it's opitmal health without having to purchase a new mower and curse out any men in my family.
Huge thanks! This was my problem, too. Thought I was careful to not overfill the oil but apparently not careful enough. I didn't even need to change the spark plug, it started with one pull, and no black smoke. Victory!
Thanks you much sir this helped amazingly , my wife tilted the lawn mower the wrong side , lol oil everywhere and wouldn’t start . I empty the oil out new one 1 1/4 , change filter and spark plug Cus it was flooded with oil and Boom! Worked again little bit of smoke for like 30 Sec then back to normal . thank you !
Thanks so much Jeff I had the same problem and watching your video I followed your instructions she runs like a brand newy and saved me 100 bucks. Thanks 🙏 buddy
You are awesome. I was looking for exactly this and thank you for making the video short. I looked at other videos that are over 20 mins and guys have no clue and probably did more than what was needed. Thanks again.
Thank you, Jeff. My lawnmower, my problem. Followed your simple directions and back up and cutting. Btw, for those that put in too much oil. Lowes, and I guess others, sell Briggs and Stratton engine oil for about 4 bucks. It comes in an 18 oz bottle. If you are doing a complete oil change, you cannot overfill your Toro recycler. Max recommended is 20 oz.
Thanks for the video! My son accidentally put too much oil in the engine and it started to come out of the air filter. It had me worried but this video helped me out a lot
this is great, I didn't read the manual on my no-change/just refill mower and like an idiot, put a full quart of oil in on top of what was in there, this solved it
This is usually caused by a leaking needle and seat in the carburetor - not from someone overfilling it with oil! When the carburetor float needle leaks, gas drains into the crankcase when the machine is not running. Draining the oil is only a temporary repair and if you leave oil in the engine the oil is diluted with gas and can prematurely wear out the piston rings and connecting rod bearing. I have found this problem on many, many engines! It can also happen as you said by improperly tipping the mower the wrong way, but I found that the needle and seat are usually the problem!
i hope this works for me my mother over fill my lawnmower and now it's smoking i changed the filter cleaned the carbuerator and changed the spark plug and it still smoke she came clean that she put more oil i told her it's not like gas to don't keep adding oil unless it's low thanks for the video
Huge thanks for this video!! I did all the steps except putting in new spark plug and letting it run(tomorrow’s job after work) Hope when I release the clutch after the excess burns off, it will keep on going!! If it quits...then what should I check for?
Ihave the same lawnmower. I used to tip my mower over as you did to empty the oil but I found a better way. I bought a cool Siphon that looks like a Bicycle Pump at Home Depot for around $12.00. It works really well and quickly too. I keep empty one gallon Vinegar bottles around to contain the oil and even my gasoline..its best to remove both before working on the mower...that way you can’t go wrong and spill that stuff.
how do you dispose of your oil after siphoning it off? waiting for the hardware store to open now. got up at 430 this a.m. planned start at 0630 and be finished before 9 and the heat rolls in. so bitter and angry right now. won't have any choice but to out in heat today given all that i have to repair my mower before cutting the grass
Ty, I put bar n chain oil in by accident, grabbed the wrong stuff, then it started smoking and now overheats, any advice what I should do now, it’s still starting but over heating, I’m gonna try this, mines a toro as well, self propelled, shoots grass out the back tho not the side, any advice would be greatly appreciated because I have a business self employed and n this is all I have right now and I’ve got about 15 yards waiting on me
I leaned my mower forward to sharpen blades, when I was done I set the mower back down and noticed lots of oil coming from the air filter housing, took off the housing and the oil was all over the filter. Can I just change the filter and add oil if needed? Did if mess anything up?
Lawnmower Repair and Service Maintenance Tips I did that and I also had to replace the spark plug due to it having oil inside the plug and it would not fire, everything work great and back to normal 👍🏾
i keep Hearing about how you have to dispose of the oil that you took out because there was too much in it. Why can't we just use it again when it gets low?
Mine was leaking gas and white smoke vapour was coming out from the exhaust or air box section. This happened because I accidentally cut a big rock. Same problem but different incident. I wonder how could I solve this problem?
ok so, i have a "yard machines." Lawn mower, were can i find the type of fuel that my lawn mower needs? thank you! I have a gas tank(for cars). Just dont know if it will need anyother kind of additional liquids for proper operation. Thank you!
Ethanol free gas is best, but tough to find. So I would recommend using regular gas with a fuel stabilizer product such as Stabil. Available at hardware stores, auto parts stores etc...
Nice video and good job, but my lawn after replacement of, spark plug, oil, air filter, new gas, new flywheel key ang gappin the coil, after all those things smoke when I try to start but don't starting, any idea? Thanks.
My son tipped my lawnmower on its side. The site filter was soaked in oil. I changed it cleaned out the area ran it for about 10-15 minutes and it's still smoking white, what could be my next step?
it usually clears up after 10 minutes or so. Some may take a bit longer. Make sure the air filter is not soaked in oil and that the oil level is correct.
I tried this but it didn't work for me. I think I have oil and gas leaking out through the exhaust. The liquid is black as the used oil should be but it is pretty thin to be pure oil. Is this a quick fix too or should I ditch the lil sucker and buy a new one?🤦♂️
I had a guy tell me, If i tipped it over from the back(which i did to look at the blade) that I prob did A LOT of damage.. mine is smoking now.... seems like u may know, does this mean I did A LOT of damage.. I have oil in my air filter and its coming out the exhaust.. it is NOT overfilled, so i know its from me tipping it... thank u for any advice/help... also the mower if very new still
Lawnmower Service and Repair Tips fnaguitarplayer9 hello mate wondering could you help me with a problem I seem to have with my Briggs and Stratton lawn more engine , The. Lawn more is revving high . I took off the air filter and all the throttle cables is cut off so it's only the governor is out the side I have it pulled the hole way back and it still revs high is there anyway on earth I can fix it thanks . (It's an air vained engine)
You're lucky when you can install a new air filter. I had the same problem but did not find the appropriate filter for my Poulan 174 cc anywhere. I have since found out that Poulan has made orphans of all their products. Parts are no longer available. Talk about loyalty to their customers!
Ok I think I tipped mine the wrong way to drain oil. It won't stay running and its leaking oil out from around the area where the primer is. Lots of white smoke. Help?
replace airfilter if it has any oil on it and make sure the oil level is not too full. The smoke will eventually stop when it burns out of the muffler if everything else is good.
I haven't got an oil burning problem with my Briggs & Stratton 92500 series lawnmower but I couldn't account for Low compression & a hard or no start problem,I was thinking it may be worn compression rings. What it was is because the engines carby has an automatic choke in it,I couldn't get the engine into the choke mode as the throttle cable is all jammed up & hard to move. I was getting a compression reading of 90 PSI until I had to set the throttle position on the motor, not the throttle lever. Once I set it wide open,I got a compression reading of 100 PSI meaning the engine has the potential to run, unfortunately the recoil gear shattered a couple of days ago so I may order a new one this week, the engine should be started in the run position then once it fires over,it should be moved away from the run or choke position so the motor will clear up & run smoothly. I also need to order a new throttle cable because I can't free up the old one,I also removed the cylinder head & decoked it yesterday, it didn't have much carbon in the engine & the cylinder is surprisingly unworn as I couldn't even feel a ridge on top of the cylinder, the cylinder has a couple of minor scratches in the bore but not enough to cause an oil burning problem or loss of compression. The Bushings in the wheels are stuffed so I'm going to order some Honda wheel bearings to suit a 1/2 inch shaft which also fit the wheels on my mower. The plastic bush has chewed into the shaft(s) so I'll use some JB weld to repair them so the bearings will be at least a slide on fit on the shaft. I may give the lawnmower blades a sharpen & buy 2 more so that the mower becomes a 4 blade one as there is a provision for 4 but I only got the mower with 2 fitted. My motor takes 600 mLs of oil apparently !!!!
This video literally just saved me 430 dollars i went and bought a new one ....watched this as i got back home....gave it a shot and it worked!! Thank you so much!

Of all the UA-camrs' giving advice on this topic, your video was the most informative and helpful. Thank you
Dude. thank you for the video. This was my problem, Guy wanted to charge me 250$ to fix. I looked up the video while he was talking. grabbed my mower an bailed. fixed an 30m of my time. thanks
Rad, dude. I just had the same issue. Was about to take it in, and figured out I had too much oil. Plus, the oil needed to be changed anyway.

Ha, ha, SAME HERE! I don't ask them to fix anymore!🌳
Huge thanks! This was my problem, too. Thought I was careful to not overfill the oil but apparently not careful enough. I didn't even need to change the spark plug, it started with one pull, and no black smoke. Victory!

Glad it helped. They take less than one quart to fill up. Apx. 3/4 of a quart usually.
Hey, thanks for the help. My lawnmower had too much oil lol. I appreciate the tips. Thank you
Saved me an expensive trip to the mower repair shop! Thanks!
Thanks so much Jeff I had the same problem and watching your video I followed your instructions she runs like a brand newy and saved me 100 bucks. Thanks 🙏 buddy
Nice to see your exact mower being worked on 👌
I am looking for the air filter part no. the b&s sn leads to nothing. I have this 7.25 190cc recycler 22. anyone know for certain?
You are awesome. I was looking for exactly this and thank you for making the video short. I looked at other videos that are over 20 mins and guys have no clue and probably did more than what was needed. Thanks again.

I liked the way you drained that oil. Nice and simple!
Thanks for the video! My son accidentally put too much oil in the engine and it started to come out of the air filter. It had me worried but this video helped me out a lot
Thank You So Much? I believe you saved us from having to buy a new mower.
Glad it helped!
Wow, this was the fix I needed. You are a God send. Thx so much
Thank you so much for the video! Fixed my TORO Lawnmower in no time. Felt stupid for over filling with oil though haha! Thumbs up for this one!
Thank you sir. I fixed my lawnmower thanks to you :D
Haha. Same here.
this is great, I didn't read the manual on my no-change/just refill mower and like an idiot, put a full quart of oil in on top of what was in there, this solved it

I had one of those. It was a beast until the whole side of the engine blew apart. Wild.

Exactly what I needed to see thanks bro
Glad I could help
I had the same problem and, by my own imagination, fixed it the same way; just needed to go on youtube to make sure. LOL!
Thank you for the video for it back running with no smoke 👍👍👍👍
Huge help!!! Thank you so much!
Glad it helped

yes, can someone answer this, i am in the same boat as you 'bearded1'

private private I take my used Motor Oil over to Jiffy Lube but you can also bring it to any Pep Boys if you have them in your area.

If it smokes and your air filter is not oil soaked, the engine has been destroyed.
Thank you! You just saved me a lot of money and frustration. So well explained.
Glad it helped!

It should be ok. put a new filter on. It will probably smoke for awhile but will stop after a few minutes
Lawnmower Repair and Service Maintenance Tips I did that and I also had to replace the spark plug due to it having oil inside the plug and it would not fire, everything work great and back to normal 👍🏾
Man, more doesn't always mean better !
thank you for the advice and know how, I had the same problem.
Yep. Let me get started lol
i keep Hearing about how you have to dispose of the oil that you took out because there was too much in it. Why can't we just use it again when it gets low?
yes you can as long as it is not black color
Very helpful💯
Glad it helped
Can I clean my air filter it’s sponge with dawn ?
yep. just dry it out thoroughly
What spark plg did u use
NGK B2LM

2 or 4 stroke? Because 4 stroke makes my 2016 Toro noisy and smoky!

Very helpful.

@@jeffslawnmowerrepairandservice Thank you. I replaced the air filter first because it was soaked. But it took about 15 minutes for the smoke to stop.
No videos said clean carburetor evidently all only seeps through butterfly throat chamber into air filter. More confidently assured now thank youl
That is exactly what my problem is..I couldn’t pull the cable to start the engine.. I’ll pull the plug and give it a try!...
Thanks man.i was just about to take a hammer to it.makes sense now.
It worked thank you 🙏
Can I use any motor oil in my toro lawnmower?
regular 30w or 10w-30
Duuuuuuuuude!!! you jsut save my mower haleluya!! im gona try it
As long as there isn't a hole in the block a lawn mower or other small engine will run with a little work especially those flatheads
I tried this but it didn't work for me. I think I have oil and gas leaking out through the exhaust. The liquid is black as the used oil should be but it is pretty thin to be pure oil. Is this a quick fix too or should I ditch the lil sucker and buy a new one?🤦♂️
you mave have gas in your oil (now too much fluid in engine) from a flooding carburetor.
I had a guy tell me, If i tipped it over from the back(which i did to look at the blade) that I prob did A LOT of damage.. mine is smoking now.... seems like u may know, does this mean I did A LOT of damage.. probably no damage. just run it for awhile and the smoke and oil will burn out. and get a new air filter
Thank you very much it help me
Also replace spark plug , tons of oil and carbon on plug from over filled oil :)
Yes, very good recommendation! Replace the plug after the smoke clears out.
