yes brother!! I have been following Wardruna since 2009 and finally getting to see them in January is a lifelong dream for me. If you like this i highly recommend you check out some of their other masterpieces, namely Hertan, Lyfjaberg, Helvegen, Gra (live at the Acropolis), Kvitravn. Someone already mentioned Eivor Palsdottir in your comments, i definitely recommend her too (I am so heartbroken because she is also coming to New Zealand this month with Heilung, another fantastic Northern European folk group but i can only afford to go to one concert a year due to the travel required for me :( and although i thoroughly love both Eivor and Heilung, Einar and Wardruna are my true heroes and have got me through some incredibly difficult times and have been there for me most of my adult life. So they 100% take the priority! I truly hope all 3 acts will return down under so that i do get a chance again to see Heilung and Eivor. but you will likely enjoy Heilung too! As for Eivor i recommend Falling Free live at the old theatre, and Trollabundin [sp] with the danish orchestra or the one where she has the flower dress and flowers in her hair). Also some notes on this song! Its about Sky Daughter, the Birna (she bear) who was worshipped in old times. It laments the loss of the forests and the time when Birna roamed free. It asks who we were, who we are, and where we must go from here. Beautiful and poignant stuff. (Also if you like, Wardruna puts English subtitles to most of their videos for us plebians who do not speak Ancient Norse to comprehend their special messages for us XD)
Their live acts are wonderful! I recommend the live video "Helvegen" with guest vocalist Aurora. Btw,as a metalhead you might be interested to know that Einar Selvik (the vocalist and composer) used to be the drummer of the Norwegian black metal band Gorgoroth before creating Wardruna. you want weird and wonderful? then check out eivor, í tokuni music video. eivor is a classically trained sopran with a masters degree in traditional nordic vocal techniques. she recently signed with seasons of mist. but be aware that this is going to be a huge rabbit hole. and a wonderful journey. another banger: brutus, sugar dragon live in ghent. fantastic band with a very unique setup.
@@mykindofweird oh yes, i have! falling free live at the old theater in tórshavn, í tokuni music video, wake me up live at rtt, the last kingdom main theme live at hammersmith apollo, slør london solo sessions, boxes live 2012, the list is endless. she also collaborated with einar selvik and the national danish symphonic orchestra for a concert called the symphonic viking voyage. last weekend I traveled more than 2000 km from iceland to germany to see her live. she is life changing

Wardruna is a great band, i bet you will like them! Greetings from Norway
G'day from Australia
Fun fact: Wardruna/Einar Selvik did music for the show Vikings. Also Einar worked on the soundtrack for Assassin's Creed: Valhalla.
I thought I knew his name from somewhere haha. I actually talked about the AC: Valhalla OST in a podcast episode.

Don’t threaten me with a good time. Can you recommend the best track to start with?
