I understand this was a learning experience for you and I've also been there trying to get a head installed on a pt cruiser without all the modifications you did to get more out of the engine, but you have to take your time and don't rush it...you spent over 2 grand on a new cylinder head that you ruined in matter of minutes because you didn't double check your clearances and specs, you can't rush engine rebuilding also consult a friend or somebody to help you that's had experience in this.
2 year update. Spun two rod bearings and she was toast. Now in the car is a semi fully built motor same head btw 2 grand well spent. A 3 speed auto transmission built by me also modified by me and one of like 3 guys on this planet with a transbreak on a 31th transmission. Um she is the only cruiser in the world to have a 3 speed auto swap. Fully efi with a megasquirt 3x unit and fully tuned by me. And currently hold the record for the fastest naturally aspirated cruiser in the world. Now there might have been some mistakes along the way and parts to end up in grave yard but I can fully say I built my car, trans and tuned all myself. Not too many racers can say that. Never did accept a sponsored for her either.
Just start learning stuff about p.t.s as about to get one. And apparently your only speed to use HOAT coolant. If mix with any other coolant it will cause a reaction and cause corrosion and can cause damage. The forums say you CAN do it but have to COMPLETELY flush the orginal coolant out. Like said just read about this not saying I'm right and only mention cause saw the standard green in tank
Glad I could help. Just make sure you check bearing clearance didn't think I had too because I was replacing with the same size but two spun bearings later and a new engine think I learned my lesson.
Um DCR racing and modern performance. Depending on what your doing but those on for performance parts. I do have a Channel just for this car now just don't post much.
@@TechImpossibleanytime a critical surface is scratched it should go to the machine shop. Machine shops or setups bore the best due to there zeroed out surface that the motor will sit on i havea jeep motor with forged internals in mines with a built transmission with 2 shift kits sonnax & transgo For heads i like to pull the motor.. the timing is just that easier Good luck

You should buy a repair manual

Never had an issue. I know that it is recommended that you don't mix coolant but I change my head gaskets once or twice a year.
Yo! I’m actually getting ready to rebuild the wife’s PT! This is exactly what I’ve been looking for. Thx 🤘😎🤘

in retrospect would it have been better to have used an engine crane ,and worked on the engine out side of car. I like you youthful enthusiasm
So how did this turn out?
get 20+ more hp by removing rear seats
Still running?
Man your just bombing right though that stuff man
Yeah you get pretty good at it after taking the same engine apart 3 times a year
15,15,20 and 20? What is that how many times you put the brush in and did it or what? Sorry new to all this and learning
All depending on how much that cylinder needs it. Basically you want to get the Shiny glaze off for the piston rings to mate to the new surface.
Cross stitching?
Lol your right. Cross hatching.
I'm planning on building my pt cruiser can you link me some of the stuff you bought or dm me?

what cams did you use
Crower Stage 3 but now I have Brian Crower stage 2 in.

@@monstaro19 Yeah I learned that the hard way because I now have a new engine in there.
