@@emanuelecasciola5299 he was, but i have to say that tonight i listened to mr rain song, and it really surprised me , very beautiful, something different
This touches my heart. I'm a fan of the Italian harmonies and Marco conveys emotions through dynamic vocals and expression. He seems to be singing from the heart. I like the build up in the verse to the chorus and the orchestral accompaniment. The lyrics are emotional. It's a beautiful song! 💖
Followed Marco ever since I discovered him thanks to Eurovision 2013, rarely does he ever let me down and my Spotify is filled with many of his songs. So it’s no shock he’s my fav of the first night, the charisma and emotion he can portray thru his incredible vocals is just 💯 It is gonna take one hell of a song and performance in tonight’s second half to beat him in my opinion
Marco has my eye on him ever since Eurovision, L'Essenziale is in the top ten of my favourite Eurovision songs. And this song is not any less to my liking. And you're not old 🥰
thanks for the reaction, Marco Mengoni like the Maneskin was launched by XFactor Italia years ago. he has a beautiful voice, I recommend you to watch his performance in Sanremo in the evening of singing duets, he sang a beautiful version of let It be accompanied by an American gospel group, greetings from Alessandro from Italy
it was long night - and we were ving a good start with Marco singing about his 2 lifes -♥🏳🌈 how authentic is this song.... hope he finds the right 1 and comes then out like Tiziano.. well it was just the Press Jury voting... so was bit suprised that Ana Oxa came late , probably it did n t ve to do with her great song... so Press juries I always take with mixed feelings ...... already the song is No 4 on Austrian itunes , 2 on Swizss Itunes charts and as well 2 in Italy
Ah, I was all ready to watch and comment on your video last night then noticed it had disappeared. I guessed those pesky copyrighters had caught you 😆 For the first time I have decided to listen to all the entries in San Remo and this was the stand out for me. So magical and Marco's vocals were flawless. And this is coming from someone that was never a big fan of his 2013 entry. Other standouts from night 1 for me included Leo Gassmann, Mara Sattei, Olly and Ultimo. Off to check out night 2 now 😍
Shane I didnt know you lived in Milano! Last year I went there for work for a week and I'd love to meet and chat a bit :) I went to La Boum party btw, it was a lot of fun ^^
Sanremo ends late at night for me, so I listened to all the songs today. Marco has a great voice and he really put all emotions into his performance. But from this night I cannot stop listening to song by Ultimo - great performance and amazing studio version of Alba. I also liked Elodie and Mara.
So far not one song gave me winner vibes, unlike the years before. Maybe I'll get my moment this evening, but I wasn't too impressed unfortunately. The best song last night was still Brividi for me. I have to say though, Marco had the best voice by far, I was rather unimpressed with hitting the notes. So if nothing else comes along, he's my winner, but with an asterisk.
So if Sanremo is for "old folks", does that by extension mean Eurovision is? Because I know the contest is important to Italy way beyond that the winner goes to Eurovision - but do only older people care about that? Because I'd think people would care about it if only for that reason - whether they're old or not?
Sanremo is far from being for old folks, whoever said that doesn't have a clue, you have top Italian artists competing every year, its a showcase that guarantees massive airplay and sales for competing artists, its not even about Eurovision thats just the cherry on top for the winner
Sanremo here in Italy is more hated than loved but the bizarre thing is that at the end everyone watches it (around 10 p.m.) but very few see it from the beginning until the end (1 a.m.) Sanremo for us Italians is inevitable even though most of the songs are terrible for our taste (very talented and successful Italian musicians you don't see competing in Sanremo, they return to Sanremo only when their career is in decline) Sanremo has undoubtedly deteriorated in terms of the quality of singers since the mid-90s (for example, both young and old know several songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s sung at Sanremo but few remember the 2000s singers = lower average quality both in writing lyrics and composing/singing) Sanremo is for old people? An old man is more likely to watch TV, young people go out at night, they have other things to do... P.s. sorry for my awful english
Most of the songs aren’t terrible for our taste. It’s just because the variety and the edginess that you will always find somebody complaining, and also somebody underestimating the whole event. But yes, in the end, “everybody sings Sanremo”. For sure the ones which complained. And it’s long hours and hours, so people rather say it’s bad instead of take the effort to follow the event. But big artist do participate in Sanremo, what you stated it’s definitely exaggerated. A big artist name can originate from Sanremo, can revamp with Sanremo, can live his career throughout Sanremo, even all the three of this options. Big artist rarely didn’t partecipate at least once. Even big non pop artist did collaborations and/or performed on the Sanremo’s sacred stage.
@Siringax You don't see very talented Italian artists in Sanremo just hasbeens? Are you for real? Yes you get the occasional artist who was popular in previous decades like Morandi, Berte, Oxa but the majority of those artists competing in Sanremo are all currently successful: Elisa, Maneskin, Mahmood, Blanco, Mr Rain, Annalisa, Elodie, Ultimo, Marco Mengoni, Sangiovanni, Madame, Fedez, and the list goes on and on, I swear its like you're describing a whole other festival. And let's not forget that songs from Sanremo dominate FIMI (Italy's official music charts) for months following Sanremo.
Well.. I'm not impressed 😐😉it sounds dated.. It's just another Italian ballad. Nothing new, nothing fresh. Sorry... Maybe I need some time and it will finally grow on me. Who knows? 🤷♀️
Thats how i feel about Sanremo atm... Im getting alot of the same sound... And this song isnt really anything to rave about. Not a massive fan of his vocal either

Great reaction. Sanremo is not for old people at all but anyways, people always try to put some hate on festival
Yeah... and then they watch it
Winner Eurovision, only if the Dutch Song , written by Duncan Laurence, will be not the top favorite.

The melody and lyrics are strong, I just really dislike his mix, to the point where it really puts off the song for mr
Am I the only one that think his voice is a bit "goatish"? Yep - still harsh.
