I think the video motif never gets talked about. Starting on the ground floor and wuth each break in the somg they go up a floor until they are on the roof and ascending to the level of Steve Vai. Very cool and subtle story telling.
Polyphia: Look, check this out, we can talk to computers with the way with play. Steve Vai: That's really cool guys, lemme show you how to talk to space whales....
Definitely need some Steve vai reactions. This is tame compared to a lot of his stuff… he is just such a tasteful player that he fits right in and never overplays even when he plays more notes than seems humanly possible. Recommendations: For the love of god Tender surrender Greenish Blues
This is actually only half true. From their talks, Tim actually had difficulties fitting in Steve's solo because he was trying out some new technique, that's why Steve's entry sounded a "bit off" in this. It did fit in in the end though, but it wasn't that simple.
@@nicoinformatics that’s not a new technique for Steve Vai. He invented it himself years ago and he calls it “Joint Shifting”. You can find tutorials on UA-cam as he has done this technique in smaller doses since at least ‘Boy from Seattle’ released in 2001. He did it a lot more on his recent album and starts out his solo with it in Ego Death. Steve always sounds a bit off in general and not by accident, that’s what he does and it probably comes from his days with Zappa. He literally plays around on the guitar doing unconventional things and if he does something that sounds ‘different’ and cool he will save it and master it and put it on a record in time. This is why you always hear something new in every record but also why he is master of odd sounds on guitar. with this song specifically it’s ‘modern’ and therefore it really needed something ‘modern’ or ‘weird’ to fit in if that makes sense. Because the song is so unique. If he came in with a more commonly heard technique it would stand out as sounding dated. It wasn’t a new technique for him though, just a new ‘riff’ utilizing one of his signature moves that nobody else does. The weirdness also works out perfectly for that ‘drop’ with the muted arpeggio into the main solo. It creates tension and you wouldn’t get that contrast if it was normal playing and then a drop and then more normal playing. It’s all about building that tension and releasing it.
@@nicoinformatics the composition they did together and how the solo was placed was pretty awesome. I’m sure it was really weird even the timing was not standard in that build up and then it’s all easy flowing after the drop to release that pressure. The sign of a great solo. The whole composition is for sure very complex even though it’s a simple chord progression.
Yeah the way Steve's notes at the start of his solo seemed to be almost harmonizing....but then shifting? was really crazy to me. I've noticed Polyphia incorporates a bit of EDM style in their playing, and Steve seemed to follow with that. The 'drop' part of his solo where he hits the strings with the 3 high notes, for example. Really unique and amazing song here. I love it.l
This is a new technique Steve Vai has developed recently. So I wouldn't say it's typical of his playing in the past. But he is known for weird choices musically. He started his career with Frank Zappa but you're probably too young to be familiar with him.
Steve Vai is a legend. You should check out some of his videos. Try Knapsack (a composition he did with one hand after shoulder surgery) or Teeth Of The Hydra to really be blown away.
You can see a fun look at Steve Vai's playing in the movie Crossroads. Throughout the movie, Ry Cooder plays all the blues parts and he plays all of the classical and rock parts
There’s something wrong in the Matrix when you play guitar and don’t know who is Steve Vai. Is like not knowing who’s the Guitar God from the last 50 years.
I can't believe You've NEVER heard Steve Vai before! What an introduction, huh? You need to listen to For The Love Of God, The Crying Machine and Fire Garden Suite!
Has anyone ever told you that you look just like a young Myles Kennedy, the lead singer in Alter Bridge. If you don't know who he is/ they are, I highly recommend checking some of that stuff out
I hadn't noticed the pickups until you said something. Instead of two and two he has one...one....and then two(?) in the back. If you look at the back pickups though (you can see them a little @ 9:20) they're really really weird looking and I have no idea what is going on there.
dude if you have never listened to Steve Vai before just get the album passion and warfare and roll a fat joint and sit back and just giggle at all of the awesomeness and majesty. IT’S UNREAL. 🤯🤯🤯
Well Buddy, I'm not a guitar channel, rather just music in general😛 but indeed never heard anything from him before. And I assume you mean Michael Jordan and not Michael Jackson?😛
Best song of the year, I can't stop listening to it.
So many People are experiencing this! Repeated listening
Agree
Vai is using a technique called 'joint shifting' that he invented.
Vai started his career with Frank Zappa 🔥
The chords and melody line are persistent and demonstrate so many variations. Steve Vai is such a constantly innovating guitarist of over 40 years!

Steve Vai knows how to shred when it fits, but he doesn’t abuse it. He is incredible
Polyphia: Look, check this out, we can talk to computers with the way with play.
Steve Vai: That's really cool guys, lemme show you how to talk to space whales....
He plays with pure emotion.
Just like Jimi Hendrix
@@robertpetre9378 Indeed.
That steve vai solo is so special. It's probably the coolest solo I've heard from him since The Love Of God.

That was pretty amazing - watching his finger control.😮

Never heard anything by Steve Vai!? Surely not! You must remedy this, mon ami.

Almost every reaction video for this song responds the same at the same exact point… pretty cool
Steve vai its crazyyyyy .Amazing
Yes YB! Been waiting on this one. Loved your Playing God reaction and love seeing your genuine excitement at the musicianship.

Reversed headstock is the name.
This music is fantastic and beautiful.
Scots Ibanez is a Xiphos 7 string

Style that you keep talking about with Steve Vai is called soul
Tuner, tuner pegs, headstock, machine head. ;)
I think that's how you play when you've got nothing to prove anymore.
This has been Steve's typical style for a while, but he was more of a shredder in the 80's.
Check out "Tender Surrender" from Steve. Mind bending!

I was shocked when he said that.

You would love the song, for the love of god by Steve vai. The live g3 version is the best and it is one of his best 🔥
The guitar that Tim uses is his signature Ibanez
Scott is playing an Ibanez destroyer, actually one of the oldest original ibanez designs!
You should react to Blood moon by tim henson
React to “For the love of god-Steve Vai” plz
But Steve Vai is the ultimate shredder they call him the wizard
He can play, but the ultimate shredder? Not by a long shot...I`d rate Buckethead or Malmsteen above him...
So, you have never heard of Steve Vai?...well........."Step into the dojo!"
You need to check out Steve vai videos! I recommend watching “for the love of god” by him, he’s a guitar god
did you ever play halo? cause the halo 2 theme is by steve vai. Freaking legend.
