Happy New Year! I found your channel this year and I think you do an awesome job with your reviews. Looking forward to what 2025 brings and wishing you all the success!
After watching earlier, and being an audiophile myself, I went and bought Furiosa. Have to admit, it's tops of my 50+ 4k movies in audio. Just amazing and consistent. So many flicks don't use the left rear speaker fully and this one was awesome to say the least. Thank you 😊
Great list. You did an amazing job of breaking down each pick. I have a few of these and can now add more to my wish list. Thanks again for making these videos for the 4K enthusiasts out there!!
1. Contagion 2. Civil War 3. Crimson Peak 4. North by Northwest 5. The Zone of Interest 6. The Conversation 7. Major League 8. Wind River 9. A Quiet Place: Day One 10. Bad Boys: Ride or Die
I commend you for your great taste in praising Furiosa....It boggles my mind how some reviewers didn't care for the film. Every single person I've recommended the film to loved it. I see it as an epic, and it's a shame it didn't get the box office results it deserved. What's odd is it seems like most of the detractors are ppl who loved Fury Road.
Happy New Year my friend I have all of your top ten with the exception of Deadpool vs Wolverine waiting on a sale as I didn’t enjoy it as much as most. Looking forward to 2025.

Hello Adam, where did you left Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning?, I think it deserved a spot in your Top 10 from this year cause the Audio was great and you loved it.
I'm not up on the At-Mouse days, can you elaborate? Also, any thoughts on why IMAX Enhanced isn't on discs, and only on Subscription based streams? (just a money/control play?)
Good list and reasons. I wonder if i simply have a bad disc for Kingdom of Planet of Apes. Because the audio was awful for me. I had to crank up 9 channels of external amplification and it was still quiet...but once i realized it was a Disney release, i didnt push the issue further.
I have kind of discovered that there are often two types of movie fans in the U.S.: People who love movies and people who love big-budget Hollywood movies. Most people who say they love movies really mean they love the latter.
.... which is fine. It doesn't make anyone a bad person. It just is good to know from where a person is coming. Dune part two is a great big-budget Hollywood film, just as North by Northwest was a great Hollywood big-budget film.
The only movie I have from the top 10 list is Dune Part 2, and it looks incredible. and the movie is great as well. I also have Horizon, but I haven't gotten around to seeing it yet.

There is, and I actually watched that version you are asking for in theaters last year... It's called "Godzilla Minus One/Minus Color". Coming out in January 2025, the Godzilla Store will exclusively be selling a 4K UHD release that includes both the original film, and the special black & white version which is on a bluray disc. The edition is only $25 dollars and currently available for pre-order.

Loved your Top Ten of 2024. The lists of most of the other Blu-ray UA-camrs I watch are basically the same and ones I picked up over the year. I find your list to be much more original and I only have 3 out of the 10. The remaining 7 are all I really wanted to get but either missed out on, or were too expensive for my nonexistent budget. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to seeing what you’ll be bringing to 2025! Cheers 🥂
I used to be an avid home theater guy and movie collector but the last 8 years or so has been so disappointing it's almost killed the hobby for me. Anybody else feel the same?
No, but I think that the high prices these days is disappointing indeed for physical media collecting. I will usually add movies that I research and want to buy to my saved for later cart so I can keep checking the prices and then buy during sales. I don't know if it is due to streaming or greed, but Black Friday 4K prices at Amazon used to be so much more of a discount years ago, but not anymore. bummer! I don't even want to know how much money I have spent on my hundreds of 4K's, blu-rays and 3D blu-rays over the years, but it is so nice to have a collection of hand picked physical media to browse thru, especially if you have a nice video and Atmos set-up to take advantage of non- compressed audio.😉
@jeffflory6288 interesting. I started collecting when DVD first came out in 1999. It was so cool to have access to movies in their original format. Before that everything used to be cropped for the old 4:3 TV's. I still have hundreds or maybe thousands of those. Then Blu-ray and I bought hundreds of those for being 1080p. Then 4k came out and I just haven't felt the need to buy the same movies again. I guess if they were still making good movies I'd be more excited. I've been looking to replace my 92 inch DLP in my home theater with a OLED but I can't quite get myself to spend $20k for the 97 inch one. I do have a 77 inch LG G 2 in the master bedroom though. Maybe I'll just have to break down and get one this year depending on what comes out at CES in a week or so.
@@bluered3228 I bought a few DVD’s before blu-rays came out, then I started buying blu-rays and especially 3d movies when I bought a 60” Samsung 8500 plasma in 2013. Gx K Atmos, Wolverine audio mixes over rated big time. GxK bass was inconsistent and barely any Dynamic heights. I got the Steelbook and the Height have just some atmosphere, and the mix was messy, muddy......CGI poor cartoonish. Really only seconds if Dynamic height channels doesnt count. I am comparing this to demo worthy DTS 7.1 Jack Reacher it smashes those 2 mentioned. Also it comes down to Film Producers and how well they mix the sound.....Talent
Hard for me as the only movie I thought was well done was Godzilla Minus One and Furiosa. Though the acting in Dune 2 was horrendous but visually it was excellent. Just didnt like it in general.
@@DrakonR Dune 2 had a 40 minute love story montage with Chalamet and Zendaya that was some of the worst acting in the history of cinema. If you like video games and arent concerned about script and story then I can see why you would think that. Gen Z Ipad kids love Dune 2 for that reason. Satisfies their short attention span. Chris Hemsworth should be nominated for an Academy Award and there are plenty of lists that have him listed. Anya Taylor-Joy was very good as well.
@@ositofreitas "If you like video games and arent concerned about script and story then I can see why you would think that. Gen Z Ipad kids love Dune 2 for that reason. Satisfies their short attention span." An example of projection at its finest. Well done. And the fact remains that in no reality is Furiosa better than Dune 2. What a joke.
with all due respect, the majority of the movies in this list is just modern Hollywood crap. How is the amazing 4K of North by Northwest not here. One could argue, all things being considered, it is the most important release of the year. Did you get this? Watch it?... I guess modern Hollywood drip is what makes videos more popular than spotlighting deeper cuts--not that Hitchcock is even a deep cut. (And, don't get me wrong, I loved Dune and A Quiet Place sequels, and I liked Civil War and a few others on the list.) But, Perfect Days notwithstanding, this is definition of "basic." All of Us Strangers got a great 4k transfer this year, and it is NOT a "catalogue" release. Making that distinction is, I guess fine... but kind of arbitrary. .... What about stuff that is old, but totally new to DVD/Blu Ray. What about the amazing Little Darlings transfer? Movieguy seems smart; he can do better. There are movies made outside of Hollywood besides the ones that Criterion spotlight.
@@MovieGuy365 As per that video, I think the distinction is silly, but "Crikey, you are obviously so smart, you can do so much better. Blue Velvet? Stop Making Sense? Pat Garret and Billy the Kid? Little Darlings? Taxi Driver? CHINATOWN!" And, I don't know, have you seen The Searchers 4k? That is my 4K demo disc from now on.
This is a perfect example as to why people can't recommend these channels. Obsessive over audio and visuals while the movie is hot garbage. Half of this list is pure hollywood slop.
Kingdom Of the Planet of Ape's Sound is Decent. Not great at all. The other one's sounded waay better. Same with Civil War. Good audio. Better than Kingdom but not as good as people say or in comparison to other titles in this video.
@ when fiction is poorly written, it takes people out of the suspension of disbelief, and this is the primary reason the film didn’t perform very well… Do some research first or at least know what you are talking about.

One thing that sucked with 3D blu-rays was if the 4K of the same movie had an Atmos upgrade and they did not include Atmos on the 3D blu-ray. Were the studios that stupid or was it all about greed. I have double dipped to 4K on quite a few 3D movies that I had if both versions were good. A big dilemma for all of us is do we buy a movie because it is a good movie or maybe it’s not the best movie, but the video and sound are stellar. There aren’t that many movies that are both though, but those that are, were always must buys. Here is the crazy thing about me. I have amassed a 4K library of easily several hundred 4K’s in various genres over the years and I just bought my first 4K TV a couple of weeks ago. I kept waiting for some reason, but now I am set. I moved my plasma tv and 5.1 system to a spare bedroom for my 3D movies. I bought an 85” Bravia 9 and I’m setting up a 7.1.4 system in my living room. The wait is over. My biggest problem now will be what do I feel like watching from so much to choose from. That is a good problem though.
Thanks Adam for all you do and to some of the other reviewers out there who have cost me money. Lol

I bought a few DVD’s before blu-rays came out, then I started buying blu-rays and especially 3d movies when I bought a 60” Samsung 8500 plasma in 2013. When 4K’s came out I started buy-ing those due to the big possible upgrade that they could provide and especially when the 4K’s included a blu-ray copy for maybe $5.00’s more than just the blu-ray alone. Loved Furiosa. Both the movie and the 4k UHD quality. But I also loved Alien Romulus. Not sure how you did not like that as a movie.
Both are terrible.
@DrakonR wrong
In no reality is the acting in Furiosa better than Dune 2. What a joke.

An example of projection at its finest. Well done. And the fact remains that in no reality is Furiosa better than Dune 2. What a joke.
@@DrakonR Dune 2 is for simpletons.
@@ositofreitas if that were true, then Furiousa would be for mentally ill. Keep em coming.
I don’t understand why people like the image of the Godzilla/kong movies. They look so so cartoony and totally pulls me out of the movie experience.
with all due respect, the majority of the movies in this list is just modern Hollywood crap.

Stop Making Sense? Chinatown? Pat Garret and Billy The Kid? They all look better than Civil War on 4K. Why make the distinction.
He explained in beginning this list is from movies released during 2024. So I agree with north by northwest but not from 2024
@@MovieGuy365 "There are movies made outside of Hollywood besides the ones that Criterion spotlight." You can do better.
@@DrakonR what's your list of top 10 movies? Ignore the title of this video
Kingdom Of the Planet of Ape's Sound is Decent. Not great at all. The other one's sounded waay better. Same with Civil War. Good audio. Better than Kingdom but not as good as people say or in comparison to other titles in this video.
Agree.
Civil War is a ridiculous film.
Not really. It's pretty much just a film about photojournalism.
The marketing of the film was what was ridiculous.
@ the premise the movie is acting on is ludicrous and completely took me out of the story.
It's fiction
@ when fiction is poorly written, it takes people out of the suspension of disbelief, and this is the primary reason the film didn’t perform very well… Do some research first or at least know what you are talking about.
@@Onibabayaga did pretty well for an independent film.
CIVIL WAR 4k quality I find overrated.
I agree 1000, i lasted 20 mins.
