And I might have a theory of the grey color as the secondary color of Massey Ferguson machines.
The grey represents the Ferguson and Massey Harris merger with the red.
😆 there is a old saying, some are green to hide in the grass because they are afraid of the red ones rolling by.😆.
Tug Boat manufacturers distinguish their products by the color of the exhaust stacks on their tugs. As an example, Crowley Maritime exhaust stacks are Crowley Red. The rest of the boat can be whatever the Tug Companies color scheme is, but the Stacks stay the color of the manufacturer.

They became green because that was the color of Waterloo Boy tractors.
