Paige I have had golf lessons for a pro and he was really great. I find that you have a wonderful way of explaining golf that makes sense. Thanks for sharing your talents with me. Love from Salt Lake City Utah
Finally, this is exactly what was needed. Too often I end up watching complicated lessons and get put off the game. But these basic lessons and tips will keep everyone aligned to enjoy this great game. Thanks Paige.
Yes!!! It doesn’t cost much to get started. Just found some good used clubs online for a bargain. Definitely recommend Vans golf shop in the Phoenix area! They have everything from beginner sets to used clubs to high end clubs. Golf is THE sport of a lifetime. You can play your whole life and enjoy your time outside with friends and family. Just remember to have fun, and laugh at yourself when your inner Goofy comes out and you hit a funky shot (mine are ALWAYS on purpose lol).
Really appreciate your videos… I am legally blind and I am learning to play golf under blind golf rules… Some of the easiest lessons I’ve had is from your videos because you explain everything so well… Appreciate it
Love the learning by doing aspects you encourage in your Being Basic with you Paige... Folks if this tutorial series doesn't get you motivated to become a golfer... 1. well educated and self maintained skilled pro. 2. down to earth no frills approach filled with shared strategy and techniques. Paige sharing her knowledge reflects her wisdom and willingness to teach a broad audience of interested beginners and those getting back into the game after time away! Totally useful, Paige is both witty and understanding of importance of relaxed no pressure pace which will help build confidence while avoiding burnout.🙌🏻🏌🏼♀️❤
I'm sending this to a friend of mine who tried golf once and didn't think she could do it, and as you said, found it intimidating. I sent her one of your videos already, but this one is right to the point. Thanks.
Paige I’m so happy you are doing this series. It’s what I need thank you so much , there is so much stuff it’s really good to know it’s a bonus you look stunning
Thank You for doing this, I just started last year. Love the game. It is frustrating at first, but the basics is the best place to start. Thank You again
Hello from Ireland. This new series on the basics is great timing for me. I am just beginning to play. You explain things well in a nice and easy style that's pleasant to listen to. Thanks!
Great to do list, a week after watching, this beginner is all set now with half-set of clubs for 300 euro, gloves (2 colours) alignment sticks and an Irish field!
This is a wonderful video, I was looking for a basic starter video on your channel. Found this today. Thank you!! I bought beginner gold clubs, so far at the driing range.
I've been using the Ten Finger Grip for about 50 years, starting as a child. I tried overlapping but my pinky started to hurt, perhaps arthritis IDK. Also, I never use a glove unless my hands get sweaty from hot and humid weather. That said, I'm not a pro, far from it, still looking to break 80 in a round.
This series would have been very helpful to me when I was first learning golf. I got a few tips from my pop, but other than that it was all trial and error.
Awesome Video Paige... I've been playing for over 27yrs and you advice for a newbie/novice is spot on... Keep up the great work and love your videos ... Rich ...😎⛳
Yay! Something for me. I've only ever gone to a driving range and a friend gave me a 7 iron. It was fun. That was like 20 years ago lol. But I watch a ton on YT and keep wanting to try...so maybe now I will. So excited to watch this series. Thanks Paige.
@@PaigeSpiranac I think the next video if your talking about clubs. So in 5'4 so what kind of club do I search for since most men are taller so since I don't know anything about clubs, are the lengths all the same? No idea. So can't wait for that video. Then lessons about swinging.
Got my clubs at goodwill..I shoot a better score then my buddies who spent over a grand on his...same with golfballs., check thrift stores..15 for a buck. Last, just starting out try the small 9 hole courses which are usually 20 bucks.
Love your videos! They have been very helpful in my starting out playing golf. Most others are long, and full of useless commentary for a beginner like myself. You explain well and are to the point! Thanks P.S.!!
Paige a great start. Would you cover the club grip positioning in the hand , resultant V relevant to chin and shoulder. Using the driving range is fun but linked to specific practice objectives rather then thrashing through buckets of balls. Getting lessons from a LPGA or PGA qualified pro to start with - not sure about that - and I've had hundreds of lessons. Tuition off the web using You Tube platform is probably best place to start. Getting fitted for a new set for clubs by a good and qualified "fitter" offering a full range of clubs is essential, and woods, wedges, putter(s!) hybrids can be different makes as long as they are "gapped". Also there are many used club sellers. Many ranges today offer tracking systems, BUT they need explaining to the novice golfer, I'm sure you will provide suitable guidance. Again a great start for what can be a lifetime of enjoyment when taught properly, including the protocols, gamesmanship pitfalls, rules and never cheating which you recently covered so candidly. Looking forward to next video to start practice for coming season, and I find it is always best to start from the beginning and basics even after 50+ years of golf, as bad habits do and will form . Thank you.
Awesome video! Thanks 👍🏾👍🏾 You even threw in a joke. "No one is looking @ you." When everyone is looking @ Paige. LOL! For good reason too. Thanks again.
You are a natural instructor Paige. Awesome video. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series. One question, at what experience level do you recommend getting fitted for clubs?
That’s a hard question to answer because I think it really depends on what you’re looking to get out of your game and how much money you’re willing to spend. I think it’s pretty different for everyone!
I like this, one thing I hope to see is maybe like a Q&A or something that are a lot of issues with newer golfers and ways to fix it. For example I'm a newer middle aged golfer. My issue is a flip my wrist apparently the reason I do that is I stop rotating my hips but I can't seem to figure out a way to get my hips to follow through.
My wife started golfing after caddying for me when I played or just walked me. Now I only play golf with her, she loves the game. I'm a 4 handicap, never forced her to play. She never had a lesson, does it her way. First few years she would tee up her ball in fairways etc. Who cares. I started her with cheap set with bag. As she got better, purchased better clubs. All her irons are hybrids etc for sw and chipper. Driver, 5 wood, 3 to 8 hybrids. She is more comfortable putting of the green or uses her 8 hybrid or chipper. She holes out of the fairway more than anyone I've ever seen. She now breaks 90 and sometimes 85 all the time. She plays quick which she got from me. I disagree Paige about 10 finger grip. I've played with it for 46 years. I think u play with grip ur comfortable.
Paige dont even read what the cowards say, they wouldnt say it to your face they are cowards hiding behind a computer screen. Keep up the good work you are brilliant. God bless you
Hi Paige! I'm newly retired and am interested in taking up golf. I know absolutely nothing and was wondering how I can get started as far as learning which clubs to use, lessons, terminology etc...
Dear Coach Piage You are an amazing athlete What a work out! How can you be so strong. I can see why l am such hopless lazy golfer by comparison But l am confused as when l grew up in the 1960's/70s 'weights were bad' One could become muscle bound But you are such a great coach you smashed this notion: ' fast twitch muscle' with your dedication you deserve all your success You are so impressive l wish you knew how much When are you coming to Scotland ( for the Dunhill Links Tournament)?. l'll start saving now to attend your golf clinic here if you prefer to get a pro caddy rather than having me carry your bag etc ( my offer) Steve Scotland
Paige, how do you get that grime/residue off your club face from the CJax balls? The green stuff wipes right off but I have been needing steel wool to get the residue off the face. Don’t feel great about this method, though. Big fan. Like what you’re doing for ladies and new golfers. We need more friendly people in golf. Keep it up!
I am 72 and have always used the 10 finger grip...I tried the other two grips but I felt uncomfortable with them. I'm a 10 handicap and the 10 finger works for me...just saying, if it works, use it..
can you explain the different degrees of wedges and what bounce means? In watch the videos on your channel and the GolfHolics channel I hear you guys talking my 50, 54, 56, 60 degree wedge for shots.
@@PaigeSpiranac Since you're adding things how about some explantion of the jargon you guys use when you talk about shots. Such as, "A knock down 8" or a "Trap draw", "cut". I like the way you simplify golf language. Less is definitely more. Being in a relaxed stance is important in golf. Nice job Paige.
Just like I learned golf 60 years ago. Like that you are encouraging young a ne players to golf.

this is perfect! thanks alot! definitely got my interest in trying out golf!
Cool vid!! Even if you’ve been doing it a while a re-fresh on basics never hurts!!
Good intro Paige ! I think group lessons are also a good alternative. I started golf by taking group lessons for beginners for $100.
Good information, and the gratuitous display at 2:25 was appreciated.

Dislocated and had surgery on my left shoulder and rehabbed for nine months . Ready to get back out there. Thanks Paige for the basics.
