I enjoy his music, don't think I'd pay to see him though. One of the reasons videos like this are put out is to entice people to come see them in concert. When you say I can't judge a live show by this video, you're implying the live show is better. However, live videos like this are usually of the artist's best performances. They don't put out mediocre content and expect non-mediocre results. For an example, sticking to Bring Me the Horizon, I just looked up one of their live videos. They put one out about 3 weeks ago that does a very good job of selling them. Go watch it, if only to see what I'm trying to get at. Again, not my type of music, but the show looks good.
The live show is always better than a recorded version of a song. Even if you record the best performance ever, it is not a patch on what you see and hear live. I've seen MGK and Bring Me The Horizon live, along with hundreds of other bands, and I've not seen a single recording that is as good as it is live (if the band is decent of course - only experienced a handful of acts that I really disliked live)
