Tina thank you so much for doing this video. Also I am very appreciated that you never use filter on your video , you show your real skin and that all that matters because I always see perfect skins in UA-cam videos especially those that review products, Before I didn’t know that you could use filters in your videos and I always felt insecure about myself and my skin but now I know those perfect skins are just fake.
4:25 I could relate to this so much, Tina. When I used the Watery Gel version one back in 2019, my classmate in uni noted I looked very fair. It was really noticeable after many reapplication throughout the day. It's like a whitecast that surprisingly complements Asian skin.
I'm using it now regularly and like the fact that there's some kind of coverage for my Asian skin yet not to the degree of a white cast. I sometimes brush over a layer of translucent powder to add some matte effect.
Japanese sunscreens are my favorite and Biore is the first Japanese brand I tried and loved. I have tried and used several other brands since then but I go back to Biore (specifically the Aqua Rich line) once in a while just because I miss it. :) It has remained consistently good and reliable through all these years. My oily, acne-prone skin loves both the essence and gel versions. But if I have to choose just one, I'll pick the gel version because it's more cost-effective.
@@syahirah3245 Hi! These are also good: Skin Aqua UV Moisture Milk (both the blue and gold versions), Verdio UV Moisture (milk and gel versions), Hada Labo Gokujyun Perfect UV Gel, Isehan Mommy UV Aqua Milk and Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel UV. 😊
Thanks for this video and I have tried both the watery essence and the watery gel. On darker skin I loved the essence so much! It left no white cast. The watery gel however did, so I couldn't use that at all
For the Aqua Rich Gel, I though the white balls were a sign it had gone bad because it was left out for 1.5 hours in the sun before I saw that the packaged arrived. So glad that isn't the case
I started with the essence but have switched to the gel in the past year. I did a side by side and just visually liked the look of the gel better on my skin. I do multi buys every time, can’t be without my Aqua Rich
I'm using the gel version now regularly and like the fact that there's some kind of coverage for my Asian skin yet not to the degree of a white cast. I sometimes brush over a layer of translucent powder to add some matte effect.
The Light Up one is definitely obvious on darker skin tone. My skin has a warm undertone and you can see how bright it made my skin. I like the formula but i just can’t wear it while having a white face and a darker neck
I've been using the Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence for months and my skin loves it! But since I apply lots of sunscreen I'm thinking of buying the Aqua Rich Watery Gel because it's bigger in size. Now I'll probably try the other variants too. Thank you for this review Tina! 🥰
Thank you for this video Tina! I really loved seeing you review the Biore UV sunscreen line. I personally want to try the Watery Essence Cool since I live in a humid, tropical climate. Also, cracks + gaps = crap lol
thanks for comparing them side...I've always used the gel and wanted to see the differences between them on the skin to see if I should switch...I have to say I get sooooooooo many compliments on my bare skin when I use the UV Gel formula
I use littllextra riceberry sunscreen, which is so good that I can't even think of going out without it a single day. It is oil-free, non-patchy, and contains SPF 50 PA ++++ which protects the skin from both UVA and UVB rays. Additionally, it is non-pore-clogging and won't block pores. The hyaluronic acid in it ensures my skin stays hydrated and radiant. I also use their moisturizer and face wash, and for the past 4 months, I haven't faced any breakouts so far.
Bioré Aqua watery essence I love, by mistake I have ordered 2nd time the bioré uv Light up essence....3rd tíme again watery essence... Top for my oily skin.
Hi 👋🏻 I also have oily skin and I want to give Bioré a try but I’m not sure which one should I go to. According to your experience which one would you recommend?
I used many bottles of both the aqua gel and essence when I lived in Japan, but I have not cut out alcohol, fragrance and essential oils from my skincare so I can't use any Japanese sunscreens anymore. They do have a nice finish and are lightweight for those that don't care much about the ingredients though, my brother who has doesn't care about skin care or ingredients would like them. The Aqua Rich Watery Essence Cool seems to have isopropyl palmitate which I think is really comedogenic (4)
Ingredients themselves don’t indicate if the product is going to be bad/good. Its all about formulation. 99% of Alcohols vapor immediately after you push out some sunscreen from the tube. No skincare is alcohol free as alcohol is the most important element in skincare.avoiding products simply seeing their ingredients is a very dumb thing to do. It's all about formulation. Same thing with isopropyl palmitate. The sunscreen can only be comedogenic if you dont wash your face. Dr. Michelle (LabMuffinBeautyScience) has already stated these.
❤️ great review. I am using the watery gel because it's the cheapest variant (I tend to trust Japanese sunscreen esp when I go out). I hope you can also review the Omi Menturm sunscreens in the future too.
ahhh thank you for the review! happy to hear that you feel there is a sunscreen without tacky feels. I brought the gel recently and feel the same, (it's been my favorite for the way the hair around my face doesn't get greasy like with other sunscreen). If you have other rec for dry skin who likes no tackyness at all, would love to know :) (im taking notes on the light up essence, thank you!)
Aloha 🥰🤙🏻I’m a surfer and would like to know which ones are mineral and reef safe. Can you next time have that listed on the description bar! Many thxs 🌊
I have Aqua Rich Light Up Essence and I am medium tan skin tone, it does leave white caste, it does add glow but if I am more tan than it becomes more obvious, so dint work for me. I liked the essence one.
Thanks so much for this video! You compared them very well. I'm just running out of my tocobo sunscreen and was looking for a new one. I just ordered the watery gel! It's nice to find a japanese sunscreen in such a big size. I've only tried a couple of far, but both of them were super tiny and I need it for my face and body.
I use the aqua rich watery gel. It is the only one that stayed put in humid and sweating conditions, that did not run down my eyes and stung. I even apply it under my eyes (yes that area is also important to protect) I refill mu cushion with it and pat it one my face and under my eyes, as having spa needs re application. Non greasy quickly absorbs, no white cast and gives pearlescent sheen to skin. This is the lotion type. o fragrance, no oiliness or residue, pairs well with moisturizers underneath can be used under the eye.
I first bought the essence and the gel when I was in Japan in 2020. I love them both but the essence feels oily to me in the summer. I prefer it in winter.
Loved this video! The original Biore Aqua Rich is my HG. Can you review more Japanese cleansing oils? I love using the Biore oil in the shower, but it stings my eyes
I'm one of the OGs with the essence and I loved the formula of the old packaging way more, it was my holy grail since it left no white cast and felt matte afterwards and my skin was extremely smooth for the whole day. When they changed to the new packaging it got worse, it now has a more oily finish and my skin doesn't feel as smooth, and I can't wear it in summer since it gets too oily (I have combination skin). I reach for it only sometimes now and have to powder my face before leaving the house, I really wish they bring back the old formula 😭
i get breakouts when i use the essence variant!!!!!! but with the watery gel, i love it and i dont get breakouts. am i the only one? and its the same formula, is it just me or!?!?!? :)))))
Thank you for this video! I was wondering if I’m the only one who finds the Watery Essence oily. I have dry skin, but after applying the watery essence, it makes my skin look so oily and sticky. I love using it but am not a fan of the stickiness because I have multiple pets at home and I keep getting furs stuck to my face
The first two are the only ones available in my area :( the watery essence is my bestie. is it feasible for you to make a similar video on Skin Aqua products? they've been popping around in my local drugstore and i'm curious to how you think about them! ❤❤❤
If I visit Japan next year I’ll let you know or if I get my hands on some more Biore products. I’ve only tried Aqua gel sunscreen but I had some light sensitivity. But the last one looks more promising and I always thought it smelled like vitamin C t o me lol.
I was so happy that the Watery Essence felt very light on my face. Unfortunately, about 30 minutes later face become irritated and had a slight burning feeling.
Such a thorough review! Love this review from you and I really wish I find your account here earlier but I guess better late than never. PS: Your make up is really on point and personally i'd say your skin looks so GREAT even without make up! Looking very fresh, healthy and even you look very lovely.
Didn’t like the watery essence and gel. Mine is the last one light up one. The other two alcohol was more and it tingles my skin , afterwards it stays sticky and shiny . Especially my tzone was shiny. Almost greasy looking. Last one does look strange whitish, once it settles it gets better . Also I use it around my eyes , comparing to Cerave sunscreens, it doesn’t melt and go into my eyes. It something I started testing on sunscreens lately , because once I was driving and it was hot , sunscreen started tingling my eyes , it got watery , sun everything together was awful. I barely got off the road .
Thanks for this review 👍🏻. I will try to get my hands on it. BTW, have you heard about the Mitomo brand? I saw a few here and there when I saw on the packaging “galactomyces” which I think is similar, if not the same, as SK-II
Have tried the last one. Under light, it has glitters. The texture is kinda like physical sunscreen which is mattifying. I kinda like it as it's not oily/lotion-like, the smell is nice but the glitters are a bit too much.

Uploaded right when I needed it! I'm curious, does the Aqua Rich Light Up Essence have any burning/stinging sensation to it when you put it on? I know you're not that sensitive to many products, but it's hard (for sensitive skin like me) to find a nice sunscreen that doesn't give me that feeling! Just curious how it is, loved the video! 😊
I've used it for a long time, and I'd say it really depends on the state of my skin barrier. If my skin is dry, dehydrated, and I feel like my skin barrier has been damaged, the Bioré sunscreen will at times burn when I apply it. I've not really had that issue with the Canmake Mermaid Skin Gel UV which is my newer favourite.
