I think part of the genius behind Freeman's Mind is working Source bugs into the narrative.
Houndeye ragdoll bounces into the stratosphere? Wave it off as being the muzzle energy of his shotgun.
Character has weird looking eyes? Freeman interprets that as being high.
Chainlink door traps and crushes a wooden crate piece before coming back? Works it in as being spring hinged.
He may still make it in the future, though, or do so with medkits, like he did in the first series.

Gordon never found the drugs because he never checked the supply boxes next to that guy's bed. That's probably what the pot was for.
I think I finally understand Freeman's erratic behavior and irrational reasoning. Black Mesa has legitimately made him insane...and everything that is happening to him now are just fueling the already raging fires of his mental instability.
That's what happens when you have scientists that are complete lemmings with ONLY the knowledge of Newton's formula...really hits me at home when it comes to people I play video games online with too.

I love how he's just been a real sourpuss this entire time during his stay in the canals instead of his usual confident go-with-the-flow attitude that he had in the first series. While it'd be nice to have him cheer up just a little later on (like maybe when he gets the Airboat), but I think it's a nice detail to the character's psychology. And really, who wouldn't be upset after fighting an elder god on another planet and then just being thrown into a chaotic civilization where once again, everyone is trying to kill him?
Well, in the first series he had active goals in mind: Get out of Black Mesa, get to his buried gold in Massachusetts, go to India, etc. Now, he doesn't even know where he is to begin with, he thinks Tripods have invaded, an entire militarized police force is after specifically him (rather than just 'everyone on the science team'), and everyone he's met that _hasn't_ tried to kill him has either been stupid, high, or Kleiner.
I like how Ross has "William Smith" editing his sound. So now I can say, "Oh yeah, and Will Smith helps with editing."

I like the little ringing noise that comes on whenever Freeman fires his gun to show his developing hearing loss. It's a nice touch.
It was a thing when he first shot a headcrab in a vent in the earlier one, I'm starting to assume his slight lack of hearing is thanks to his inability to give a shit, in which I'm glad.
I still have trouble fully believing we're actually getting the real Freeman's mind 2.

Also, love ya, Freeman. You're echoing my thoughts on the generic crates in this game. All of them are empty. Nothing in them. That's a detail that I liked in Half-Life 1. Even useless crates had shit in them. Think they somewhat remedied that in Black Mesa but that's a fan developed game. Mind you, the empty crates make sense from a gameplay perspective as it teaches the player which crates have shit in them.
Added: I just remembered that the supply crates have loot that changes depending on what you're low on. Thus, this Freeman will NEVER see first aid kits from those as his 'health' will never go down because of having God Mode on. So, he'll likely only ever see ammo in supply crates. XD
Crates from the HL1 were bad for game's pacing. You are literally stopping in each room breaking all shit for at least 2 minutes. And in the sequel it's like few seconds to take everything- much more better for replayability

I wonder what Ross will do after this series of Freeman's Mind, I imagine that once he's done with Half Life 2 he'll take a break with the series like he did with HL1 but it won't take as long since the next step will be the episodes. But what about when he's done with the Episodic Freeman's Mind series? Oh. My. God. Unless Valve gets busy now, this series will die. I guess with how long it may take to complete this series of videos, we already have a HL3 to look forward to. But the very idea that Half Life 3 not being out by the time this series is over scares me. Then again, why am I so worried? We're only six episodes in, and the only thing I'm doing is sounding pessimistic. Dang, this must be the most dumb comment I have ever typed up in the time I spent here on UA-cam, Why am I still typing?
