Thanks for sharing the story and your hardwon knowledge. Glad you escaped with minimal damage, could've been 30x worse! Not surprised the local cops at both ends are worthless for investigating attempted fraud. Suggest you instead call the FBI field office nearest you to report this attempted interstate commerce wire fraud. I would hope they'll be interested in pursuing it.
Spectacular video - You've done a fantastic service to the community. The other simple scam is on ebay... the buyer merely states that there was no comic in their box - or that it's a poor copy - or they demand a return and send you back an empty box... they get their money back (from your account). Anyone selling big books through ebay or any other online platform is rolling the dice. Scary stuff.
Bry, thank you, thank you, thank you. You're always candid and objective about all of your comic selling experiences. The future of our little hobby will be made better by stand up people like you. Thank you!
Bry, thanks for the video. Honestly really educational and I’m so glad you shared this with the community. Loved the “Batman: The Animated Series” Mark Hamill Joker edit. So funny. Good on you for being smart enough to not fall for shit. Way too much of this crap out there. Cheers, all the best!
Very interesting Brian… credit card companies condoning scammers as they cash in. I had a slightly similar experience being scammed in a trade with a guy in the UK out of a comic. And like you said, I really wanted to move it and had my rose colored glasses on when I thought the deal was a go. Sad to say I had all this info… real name, address, where he works, others that have been scammed by him as well, and the local police wanted nothing to do with it. Scammers have free reign nowadays and that is why I see more and more popping up everywhere I look. Glad you always share your experiences with us whether it’s good or bad. Helps our community to stay safe!
Great video and great public service announcement. It's very helpful for even general collectors to know about this kind of stuff and that being cautious never hurts! Keep up the great work!
Great video Bry! I must admit I would have been so happy about the big sale and just shipped the book... thanks for the valuable lesson, I will be in touch if I ever open that shop I've been thinking about.
That’s what seems the biggest risk in dealing with high dollar items like that. Seems if someone can perpetrate a successful fraud they get away with it. I love big books but I get nervous ever thinking of how to sell one in the future.
I was robbed of $4000 worth of inventory earlier this year and I work f***ing hard long-a** days, seven days a week trying to create a breakthrough yet to happen. Meanwhile, there are the scammers and the thieves making bank off the backs of people not taking those shortcuts. I don't know, exactly, how to feel about those people who choose to be awful. I really don't. I'm actually sympathetic because no person, I think, endeavors to be a criminal and life deals us all kinds of unimaginable things. But when people double-down and say the crap that your scammer did I bristle. I can give them props, I guess, for creative ingenuity but being wicked about it unsettles me in a significant way. Happy you dodged your bullet. Thrilled, by the way, with the new mystery box. Picked on up and am really crossing my fingers for a needed win. But your boxes never, ever disappoint so I'm sure that whatever I get will have made the expenditure worthwhile. Thanks, again, for the deal on the ASM 592. It's a beaut and I really appreciate your flexibility. Take care.
That’s the dirtiest shit man I absolutely hate scammers and scalpers just had to throw Throw dirt balls in there too. I can’t understand why people are this empty inside that they are happy to rip someone off. Glad you followed it up man.
I haven't even watched this whole thing yet, I'm running to order my mystery boxes! You may recall, I said I'd buy extra for my birthday so I will own up on that commitment for sure!
Wow, that totally sucks about the credit card fees. I’ve been on the other end, having my credit card hacked and needing to have charges reversed. I never imagined the sellers were still getting screwed.
I'm sorry the situation occurred, but you could have lost a lot more if you didn't do your due diligence to investigate and expose this scammer. Great job! Hopefully he gets what's coming to him.
These scammers are getting crazy... I like how he got so offended when he couldn't scam you that he revealed everything 🤣🤣 Good on you bro! always trust your instincts.
What a great video. I laughed. I cried. I was astounded. I loved the scammer voice. It must have been hard to stay in character as the scammer for so long. Got my order in on the mystery box. TY for opportunity.
This one was both hilarious and sad. Funny because of the voice you used being the "scammer". Sad because ppl like that "scammer" continue to hurt the hobby. Keep saling and grinding
Bry its Really great that you shared this story and are offering to help fellow sellers avoid getting scammed. Sucks you had to pay that fee but at least you didn’t get really soaked for 16 k. Looking forward to receiving my mystery box !
Thanks for sharing this info, knowledge is power and you my friend have been great in this area. That’s why I fuk w you fr fr. Fan of your channel, your store and all ur other platforms.
Great video. Always follow that gut feeling. If you have that feeling there is something behind it and more times than not it steers you in right direction
You should make a full video about it...would be instructive to see what you need to ensure you sell online comic books...im sure even those who dont plan to sell might be interest as well :)
freaking out about the VPN is so funny cuz that was the most easily explainable thing literally just had to say "I pay for a VPN and just always have it on for privacy." If you have any friends into tech it's so common lmao.
Lol, as you were telling the story, I was thinking to myself that “cracker” is such a Florida term, now I find out that he’s from FL 😅. You were almost scammed by Florida Man!
This is an insane mystery box!! Can't wait to get mine. Dude sounds like a real piece of work. Glad you went with your gut and he didn't get one over on you.
Bry! Dude! MAKE A COMIC BOOK OF ALL THE LESSONS YOU HAVE LEARNED! It would be educational, a comic book and most of all AWESOME! No doubt you could fit it all into a single comic book…AND WHAT AN OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE SOMETHING THAT WOULD GUARANTEE TO SELL! (Please send me a CGC 9.8 copy if you do this) 😊
That is so crazy. I would have got him to take a photo with the newspaper with the date on it. I get them all the time on my main ig account. Good for you for catching him!!!
Not surprise that there was a free fix to the Credit Card Fee and it was not voluntarily shared. Glad you asked the pointed questions. Maybe their terms need to be updated to include the info about the free fix.
Dang! That sucks! So scary for sellers. You would hope for such a huge amount, that the fraud division of the FBI could get involved. Definitely agree with other commenters (and for next time) that you should have taped on camera and recorded every conversation with the scammer for more proof. And besides the ridiculous charge of fees to you from the credit card, was there any way to call the credit card company to verify if the card was stolen and that fraud was being committed with it? Man...
I just wanted to say thank you Bry Whatnot sent me an email to sell on there through your link I am a big fan of your channel for about 2 years Your videos are very helpful & you are very honest with everyone & very passionate about the hobby Again Thank You for the opportunity & wish you & your family the best in the world
Hey, very informative video, thanks for posting. One question: if the shipping address matched what was on file with the stolen credit card, I assume you would have shipped to that address. So how does the scammer end up with the comic when you ship to a valid address?
Can't wait for the mystery box, I ordered mine today - fingers crossed! And what a wild story, shame on the police, the credit card companies, Shopify, and everyone who allows scammers to flourish and keep getting away with things like this and harming everyday people and small business owners!
Brother, your delivery of this story was pretty funny, despite the story itself not being funny. Glad you were able to avoid taking the big bite out of the shit sandwich this guy was obviously attempting to pass to you. But at the end you still had to take a bit of a bite with that credit card fee. Thanks for the video.
Trust is tough. I have bought on eBay and have gotten scammed on comics that turned out to be restored. This puts a lot of trepidation on the idea of buying anything off a website. I usually buy from private people or at conventions. Scams are a bitch and work both ways sadly. I have though been watching and enjoying this show a lot. Bry you seem like a good guy so I’m going to take a risk and buy a mystery box this week. I also hope to see you at a convention one day. Will you be selling at LA comic con?
I get nervous any time I sell anything on ebay for over $50 - thats when I see the most scammers and/or terrible buyers If I were in the business of selling high value items like you do, I don't know if I'd be able to sleep at night
something similar happened to me, but in regards to a bank. I deposited what turned out to be a fraudulent personal check. The bank deposited the money in my account soon afterwards, but then rescinded it. It would have saved me a great deal of trouble if they had reversed the order of events there.
That guy seemed like he was a real gem. Glad to hear he didn't get something over on you.

Great story Bry. Loved the Joker laughing insert. 😂
Always a smile and happy day when you release content to watch
Terrific video. Thanks for your devotion to principles and honesty.
Scammers always making things worse for everybody else. good thing you trusted your gut and followed up on checking things out,
Bry, thanks for the video. Honestly really educational and I’m so glad you shared this with the community. Loved the “Batman: The Animated Series” Mark Hamill Joker edit. So funny. Good on you for being smart enough to not fall for shit. Way too much of this crap out there. Cheers, all the best!
Thank you for sharing Bry...shame you lost any money!
I really apprecaite how open you are with your business and lessons learned. Thank you.
Good for you for doing your due diligence and not just being happy with the huge sale. Thanks for sharing!
Very interesting Brian… credit card companies condoning scammers as they cash in.

So true man, very disappointing how much free reign they have…
"Don't be blinded by desire..." continues to show you everything you desire. -- take my money! 2 more boxes heading my way.
Another well informed video. Thanks for sharing. Wow! Good catch.
Very valuable lesson, thanks for sharing the knowledge
Great video and great public service announcement. It's very helpful for even general collectors to know about this kind of stuff and that being cautious never hurts! Keep up the great work!
I’m glad you didn’t get scammed those people suck
Cut to Bry watching the end of Fight Club on loop.
Glad you were able to keep from being scammed!
Great video Bry! I must admit I would have been so happy about the big sale and just shipped the book... thanks for the valuable lesson, I will be in touch if I ever open that shop I've been thinking about.

Damn, man - crazy. That new box looks great btw!
WOW! What a story! So glad to learn that you were able to recognize the scam. Stay sharp; keep grinding bro!✌️
Super interesting video, Bry. Thanks for sharing. Glad you did your due diligence.
Got to say. Scamming is rough but you gain an amazing story. Thanks for sharing
Rose colored glasses are very dangerous. Enjoyed the story telling. Great job.
Thanks for the eye opening lesson. People suck!

Nice Detective work Bry.

Happy birthday!
@@BrysComics thanks 😊 it’s not until next month but that works perfectly since the boxes are shipping next month!
Wish we could have heard this guy and his evolution into revealing he’s a scammer. Dude sounded crazy
Thanks for sharing, Bry.
Wow, that totally sucks about the credit card fees. I’ve been on the other end, having my credit card hacked and needing to have charges reversed. I never imagined the sellers were still getting screwed.
Thanks for sharing this information!

Scammers are the scum of the Earth, thanks for a great video

Insanity....It was almost leading to a successful solution.....then bottomed out again...
Glad you were on top of it and sharing the knowledge!
That is a crazy story. You should have recorded the phone call for entertainment value
That 1.8 presents incredibly well !!
Thank you for sharing this. I hate scammers and those credit card fees.
Man, thats just sick what happens nowadays😢
Dammnnn that really sucks this happened dude! Screw scammers.
Wow, crazy story. Once again you're the best content creator in the field. Learn so much from you.
🙏🏻
Awesome mystery box! Great work avoiding the Rat scammers! lol
Nice mystery boxes!
That story you told us was crazy
Bry its Really great that you shared this story and are offering to help fellow sellers avoid getting scammed. Sucks you had to pay that fee but at least you didn’t get really soaked for 16 k. Looking forward to receiving my mystery box !
I wanna know the lessons! Lol I’m a hobby shop owner and scammers are everywhere! Thank you for this video
Wow!! Glad u dodged that bullet. Sux about the cc charge but better than the whole enchilada.
A + video Bry. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing this info, knowledge is power and you my friend have been great in this area. That’s why I fuk w you fr fr. Fan of your channel, your store and all ur other platforms.
That guy was such a red flag. What a crazy person. I wish someone would get these scammers. They are everywhere now and law doesn’t do much.
Great video. Always follow that gut feeling. If you have that feeling there is something behind it and more times than not it steers you in right direction
Good thing your Spidey senses were tingling.
You should make a full video about it...would be instructive to see what you need to ensure you sell online comic books...im sure even those who dont plan to sell might be interest as well :)
Never doubt your gut instinct especially when you’ve been selling comics regularly and it’s your day to day living. Well done you!
freaking out about the VPN is so funny cuz that was the most easily explainable thing literally just had to say "I pay for a VPN and just always have it on for privacy." If you have any friends into tech it's so common lmao.
Just picked mine up. Love Grassetti. Outside of "The Boys Dear Becky 1 4th of July" which was 56 in total. This has got it. Here's hopin.
Wow never saw that one!
Great video. Very helpful info
Lol, as you were telling the story, I was thinking to myself that “cracker” is such a Florida term, now I find out that he’s from FL 😅. You were almost scammed by Florida Man!
😂😂
This is an awesome video... what a crackhead. I'm glad you posted this. Made my whole week. Eff those scammers.
Nice mystery boxes. Ordered mine! Wish me luck! I'm glad you cancelled that order. These scammers are ruthless!
This is an insane mystery box!! Can't wait to get mine. Dude sounds like a real piece of work. Glad you went with your gut and he didn't get one over on you.
Loved the story. The credit card companies keeping the fee is total BS!
Bry! Dude! MAKE A COMIC BOOK OF ALL THE LESSONS YOU HAVE LEARNED! It would be educational, a comic book and most of all AWESOME! Wow man, glad you found this out before sending it out. It sucks that the police can't do anything. They need cyber crime unit.
That’s like some creepy pasta type story! Stay safe in these streets Bryan! Lol
Another reason why I prefer consignment with large dealers, they assume the risks.
Thanks for the stories. Sad to hear that credit card companies leave scammers loop holes that put you out of pocket.
Thank You for this video Brother. 👍😀♥️🇺🇸🇨🇦❤️💯💯💯💯💯
Props to you for sticking to your gut!
Very informative thank you!
I'd watch a vid on comic book selling lessons.
Lol I was so skeptical and willing to give the benefit of the doubt until he started cursing you out. What a psycho
Horrible you were out of pocket, but at least you didnt lose the book
Sounds like a supervillain 😅
Not surprise that there was a free fix to the Credit Card Fee and it was not voluntarily shared. Glad you asked the pointed questions. Maybe their terms need to be updated to include the info about the free fix.
Getting charged the credit card fee for fraudulent transactions is ridiculous.

Thanks for this scam video. People are amazing… ugh. Great looking mystery boxes! I’m in.
Hey, very informative video, thanks for posting. One question: if the shipping address matched what was on file with the stolen credit card, I assume you would have shipped to that address. So how does the scammer end up with the comic when you ship to a valid address?
Apparently they put a hold on the mail for that address and then go pick it up from the post office…
Wow. Good Job, Trust your gut.
Love the scammer voice! Lol
Helpful video. Very useful.
Hilarious video! Good for you going to all the trouble you did to stay safe and keep your comic! Great Channel!
Can't wait for the mystery box, I ordered mine today - fingers crossed! And what a wild story, shame on the police, the credit card companies, Shopify, and everyone who allows scammers to flourish and keep getting away with things like this and harming everyday people and small business owners!

Think im gonna have to file the Evil Gwen error books into my long term collecting goals 😭
That’s a crazy story man, I had no idea about the credit cards too. It seems everyone’s out here scamming nowadays

Yikes. The credit card charge seems like a legal scam.
