Maddie, I call it JOMO (Joy of Missing Out)-basically the opposite of FOMO. Be at peace with not packing in a full agenda. We don't have to do it all and our contentment is robbed when we believe that lie. Blessings x
Omg I LOVE that!!! JOMO!!
Huge fan of JOMO ❤
I waited for a bad day to watch this video because I knew it would make me feel better - and it really does! Thank you ❤
Woke up crying and now I can drink my coffee in peace :)
It’s a Red Kite Maddie!! They’re very common nowadays in some parts of the UK after a successful reintroduction attempt and becoming protected species. They used to be close to extinction, but in the village I live in Ive seen about 15-20 in the sky at one time before, it’s crazy.
I love Alexe's note of ABSOLUTELY NOT about going for a walk in the morning :)
Definitely a red kite, common in this part of the country. I’m privileged to see one flying over my house every day. What a wonderful place to stay, and a bonus walk up Hay Bluff with stunning views. Cymru am byth!
Last month I went for my first solo holiday, and I had best time. It's so surprise me how much I love it.... you can go where you want, when you want, you can have coffee, dinner, drink whenever you want. I wish I have done it long time ago.
It's been a long time since I've had that feeling of being so stuck into the world of a book you can't put down and spending all day reading it, I'm craving it now I've watched this video xxx
Your comments about travel styles and how sometimes you need to get away to stay in one place spoke to my SOUL. I’ve recently gotten into solo traveling for this reason - it makes it so you are fully in control of the way you use your energy and all choices can be spontaneous. Maybe one day you don’t want to leave your room or cabin, and you aren’t answering to anyone else about why. It’s just what you feel in the moment that your soul needs. And I don’t think we allow ourselves opportunities to tap into that nearly enough. So glad you had this chance to relax and decompress on your own schedule! ❤
Lush is so iconic!! Love their products and ethical stance on environment protection for animals and land, it's such a win win to buy from them! Your mini break looks so relaxing and lovely.
That is probably the most perfect book you could have taken on with you Maddie! I hope you enjoyed your time ♥️
Good for you, Maddie .... you're so right that there are many benefits to being alone at times! And, I've just discovered TikTok lately, and it's a hoot! And, so glad to hear you talk about a good afternoon nap (such a luxury)!
Omg when you showed that outside with little road and sheep walking around, my heart sank..? I don’t know how to describe that feeling, I just stopped breathing for a moment and felt a tight chest from how beautiful it is, made me so emotional in a good way! I dream to one day be able to live in a place like that - quiet, in open nature and animals everywhere. For now will live that dream through your videos, thank you, hope you had a wonderful time!
OMG the Jane Eyre Movie with Susanna York and George C. Scott.... OBSESSED. Eagle!
Ps we walked offas dyke and came down hay bluff in the hot weather just in time for the book festival. Great holiday. :) Thanks for sharing .
Maddie so glad you took us along with you. So glad you enjoyed yourself and got some much needed self time ❤
As you get older, our moon phases really affect us. We do go through stages of not wanting to socialise and to sleep more and rest. I think it’s good that you had time in the cabin on your own. Every woman deserves that.
I loved, loved this video. I say the same thing all the time about being a woman and having to worry. The worry does ease up about being murdered by 60 and then it's worries about other things. Enjoy your youth Maddie and keep enjoying those naps. I didn't start napping until I was 40--oh so many naps never taken. Being busy is simply overrated. I love Alex's editing comments LOL. What a beautiful place to stay. Thanks for sharing. Now, I'm off to the lush site to see what I need to buy..
Lovely relaxing video! The bird was a red kite they are beautiful and we are fortunate to see them regularly here in Wales 😃 x
Cool that you are referring salt from Portugal, we really have a lot of salt flats here, that one because of the wetlands and wild life probably comes from the Tagus(Tejo) river not to far from Lisbon, it has a natural park that harbors a lot of animals, specially birds that pass through these wetlands while they are migrating to the north of Europe, otherwise probably comes from Aveiro or Alcácer do Sal.
Looks fabulous chill time. It’s a Red kite. Loads in hills around Rhayader too 😊
Bird is a red kite.
Glad you had a good re charge
I was talking to someone who works for lush recently and they were telling me how lush pulled out of social media because they didn't like how negative is could be around self image and how it can effect mental health. I was really impressed.
That’s incredible
currently on a solo dog-sitting trip in Canterbury (not quite as remote but still far more relaxing than London) - couldn't have echoed with some of your ideas at a better time. Just enjoying lots of walks and nothingness, not even listening to music whilst walking!
Have a nice trip .
It looks amazing there. I love traveling alone. I've never went somewhere this secluded alone though. Also, I totally get the slow traveling idea. Even in a big city I love walking and sightseeing "from the outside" and feeling the vibe. No need to queue and queue to tick every landmark. It's very freeing! ❤
Yes it is so freeing and makes for a much more relaxing experience!
Yes please for the Waitrose video, our nearest is Exeter. So would be great to see what they have got. Sainsburys is pretty good but yet again our nearest is Torquay xxx
those closets are huge. I could fit my entire life in those two closets 😂
The bird 🦅 is a Red Kite…. Beautiful and graceful bird of prey.
I’m very fortunate to live in Brontë Country…. You need to come up and visit our awesome wild moorland landscape 📚 love lush too! ❤
The bird is a kite. They are so beautiful ❤️
I know exactly what you mean, I've watched too many horror movies or crime movies. I was just in Denmark and lived alone without a dog etc in the middle of nowhere in the forest. Friends and family were nearby but not in the house. the nights until falling asleep were not the quietest🤣🤣😉😉
Not sure if anyone has said yet but it looks like you saw a Red Kite. This looks so lovely definitely an inspiration for a holiday next year! Thanks for sharing 😊
Those shots of the moody rainy sky in a wild landscape were so apropos for reading Wuthering Heights ❤
It’s high on my list of things I want to do: go to a cabin all on my own for a few days and just read. I have never gone anywhere completely on my own. I mean, I have travelled TO a place on my own, but there has always been another person there at the destination that I am spending time with. I need to rectify that ASAP !!
I appreciated the “mountains” in quotations on the screen every time you said the word juxtaposed with the hills in the background lol. Only because I used to live in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains so anytime someone calls what amounts to a large-ish hill as a mountain, it makes me giggle. My mother grew up in The Netherlands, where it is flat as flat can be, so every time there were some rolling hills in our surroundings she’d call them mountains and my father would snort at her. It was a happy little memory for me there. 😊
What a lovely little get away for you !! I hope it turns into a regular occurrence for you. Getting away is such a good re charge.
The bird looks like a Red Kite. Beautiful birds :)
Beautiful scenery and bird🤩
Maddie, I enjoyed this so much. It’s refreshing to see someone on UA-cam go on holiday and do “nothing much“.
That bird is a Red Kite! Not too long ago there were only a few left in the world, now they are anywhere there are hills in England and Wales. Both Wales and the Chiltern Hills have a lot of them and I think both areas have a deep love for the bird. They are funny creatures- huge but they are quite nervous. I've seen magpies bullying them with ease, they often 'play dead' when handled by humans rather than fleeing or fighting back and they mate for life! You can tell a Kite from other birds as they have a triangular tail that helps them dip and dive through the winds and their call is a deafening screech akin to a child having a meltdown 😅
It’s a red kite …. So beautiful. We have them in Cornwall too .., naps in the afternoon..yum!
Love Lush!! What a beautiful part of the UK. So cozy in the tiny house especially with rain.💚🌿🌸
We love lush! The cosiest place ever!
The coffee part of this video cracked me up 😂 such a Madeline clip! This trip looked wonderful! Nice to chill xxx
Hahahaha
Definitely a red kite (forked tail), lots of them in Wales. What a lovely cabin stay.
So interesting! I’m a Canadian moving to PEI this fall ❤
Just relax and let your hair down. It’s a time to reflect and just take it easy and read, eat well and rest😊 enjoy x
Thanks for taking us along on your solo - beautiful countryside!
I have a dog and also feel that kind of nervousness when i'm on a walk (though my dog is bigger than Roxy, so he's a bit of a deterrent on his own. I switched to bone conducting headphones for walks (shokz, they're amazing), so that I can hear what's going on around me while still enjoying my podcast or music on my walks. highly recommend.
The bird looks like a red kite, there's a large population of them where I live in Buckinghamshire.
And now I want to go on a little solo trip! I have been thinking about it for some time but feel guilty about leaving my husband with two wild young children 😅 But I feel like my introvert quiet-lover self would thrive!
Thank you for sharing with me..Nice moment and I like spontaneous on pictures shoots👍
I love Waitrose it is expensive but the quality is amazing. Please do a Waitrose shopping haul, I recommend their vegan ready meals.
Honestly they have some of the best vegan food!
I live 1 mile from a Waitrose 😊 and I think I’m slightly addicted been three times this week.
@@MadeleineOlivia Waitrose Plant living range is amazing 🤩
Thank you for sharing this with us, it looks absolutely dreamy. I hope it gave you the recharge you needed 💖
When I walk my dog ( I live in a rural ish area) I started carrying pepper spray. Honestly it was because I have trouble with unsecured dogs sometimes. Also there are black bears ( I very rarely see them) I am single so I always walk alone so it makes me feel a bit better. 💜
What a lovely video. That’s really inspired me to make sure I get in a weekend somewhere off grid to myself 😊
Such a beautiful place!! I would so love to travel there one day. I hope your parents enjoy their stay here in Canada and good for you for having some alone time. We all need it every now and again.
Alex editing your videos is the best thing ever! 😂
I’ve been using Lush dream cream for years and the rose jam shower gel is so lovely. Lush bath bombs are my number one ask for birthdays and Christmas
Maddie, your feet and toes when you're reading!! I do this when I'm eating! 😊xxx
You've inspired me to be brave and do a solo trip!
What a lovely spot.
I still have all of my English lit. books that we studied. We did Cold Mountain and Birdsong and they both have so many coloured page tabs (diff. Colours for different themes) and pencil notes 😂 I love seeing how studious I was! Can’t part with them so I totally get it ❤ love a cabin retreat too - perfect get away!
We went to one of these recently in Norfolk! Amazing! It took me about 20 mins to Grind the coffee and get a good strong one 😂 really taught me to slow doooown! Haha
Love love love this collab! I love Lush (and your content!)
Me too! Dream collab 😍
I really enjoyed this video. Relaxing and inspiring. Thank you!
Your vid made me yearn for a mountain walk ❤ I hope I can do one this summer, and even sleep overnight in the wild. Been dreaming of it for years.
You can get reeces peanut butter cups here, tesco do them, certain shops do ❤
Loved this vlog!🫶🏻
So enjoyed watching this vlogg - made me feel relaxed ! Xx
You are so brave. Not sure I'd have the courage for this, but its wonderful to see you do it ❤
Why do you think that’s brave? I don’t see it like that. I went on a solo trip and sometimes I go solo hikes too. I think brave are the women like “Eva Zu Beck.” . Look her up on you tube. She’s so brave and amazing
One of my favorites - mushroom and avocado toast preferably on sourdough bread!
So cute,elegant..lovely olivia,much love.shamim zahuri from 🇧🇩bangladesh
I have stayed in this exact cabin! Unfortunately we didn’t have a very good experience - v poor customer service, no hot water (in January) so I do encourage people to look around at other options before going with Unyoked. You cannot beat the Welsh countryside though! ❤
Oh no I’m sorry to hear that!
This sounds like so much fun! I’d love to do something like this.
I honestly want to do it again!
Thank you I needed this
That looked so relaxing it relaxed me as well! Nothing like nature to wind down :) Wuthering Heights was one of my favorite books (and movies) when I was at university, studied it at English Literature as well and it had quite a mark on me. This makes me want to reread it and rewatch the movie with Juliette Binoche and Ralph Fiennes ♥
Oh, this looked dreamy! Part of me would love this, part of me would be terrified to death. I've been meaning to go on a solo trip for ages but I'm just too scared. Wish it was easier on my anxiety. Perhaps one day. The nature is too beautiful to pass on.
Go for it! It’s important to challenge and push yourself if you experience anxiety. It shows you the strength you have and helps you to overcome those hurdles. Maybe start small by going somewhere for the day that you know and then you can go back home! Then start going somewhere further afield for the night that is still within driving distance so you have that safety blanket ❤️ My next stop will be doing this but abroad!
Hope you had a good trip❤️
Thank you! I had such an incredible time
What a gorgeous cabin 😍
So stunning right!
I think i saw Joe Sugg, do the same, it just looked divine and peaceful❤❤❤❤
I receive emails from Unyoked so was very interested to see your videos. Now just need to persuade my husband that we need to go. I bet the view was ever changing.
Lovely video Maddie! The bird was a red kite and they are impressive! (I work the the RSPB so bit of a bird nerd!)
I haven’t seen a lush ad in ages. Didn’t they stop doing at social media marketing? Love the video 🥰
Love the video is very nice and inspiring ❤❤
Lush is amazing! !
素晴らしい生活にあこがれます。素敵な映像ありがとう。
Maddie, I recommended reading Period Power by Maisie Hill. It is a fascinating book about women’s cycles and as a 41 year old woman I learnt new things and ways to help be the best me during different parts of my cycle. ❤
I can imagine how beautiful it is to be at this wonderful cabin, wandering the hills and reading Wuthering Heights
come visit me in Colorado!!
Really enjoyed this video 😊 I have only been away alone once in the 10yrs I’ve been married but am inspired to do so again! Don’t think cleaning the house in the middle of the night (when it’s dark) sounds like a good plan though 🤔
The bird looked like a Kyte to me with a typical fan tail, they are becoming more and more common and can be quite large.
Interesting thank you!
Agreed - it looked like a red kite to me 😊
@hayleystokes3116 this is what I thought too! :) X
Definitely a red kite
Oh wow I want to do that
I use the free version of AllTrails and I love it! What a lovely trip, hope you enjoyed it :)
Madeline , would be fun if you did a full on lush haul for old times sake 🎉 :)
That cabin looks amazing and stunning views 😍 I highly recommend using apple wood next time you make a cheese toastie, it melts beautifully imo 👌
It's totally out of my comfort zone to go anywhere by myself - I think I was wired that way.
Went to minions last yr, loved the tin mines, reminds me of dartmoor where u went ❤
Dream cabin!! I adore lush...whenever im back in England i stock up on a few bits. I sadly dont have a bath so i love their shower bombs!!! Try them if you havent yet ❤
I love this video and your getaway. I need to do this! Also, is there a US equivalent to Lush?!
Really interesting video and such a beautiful place. Funny that you talked about traveling to Prince Edward Island. I travel to PEI (and Nova Scotia) in september and I'm really excited.
Body Shop were the first to do re-fillables, mark constantine who started Lush worked for the bodyshop, he deff got the idea from Anita Roddick who founded the Body Shop she was ahead of her time, i worked for the Body Shop many years ago.and u knew about deforrstation, fair trade before it was as well known as it is now.
I was ready wuthering heights when Kate Bushs song came out? It was like a sign. I think I was about 14! Xx
please do a waitrose grocery haul when you go shopping. i go to london in august and want to buy a few things to bring back to germany 😄
You needed to bring Roxie with you!
