You don’t nail a Buddy Rich transcription without having your technical thing together. Unbelievable the discipline this must’ve taken. Your chops are basically there. Now get into what Buddy was thinking musically; how his playing affected and inspired players and audiences. There are beautiful secrets buried in his choices.. especially in quieter moments. And a ton of heart.❤
You know it!! Yes, transcription is the only a step to be able to do that.
Connecting the “chops” and the musicality is the most important part. If I manage to do that, I will no longer be the “Buddy Rich guy”
I have watched many of your split screen like videos playing with the greats of drummers. You have the speed, the style, the rudiments, down to a science. You must of practiced many 10's of thousands of hours to be at the highest level as a professional drummer. I don't think there is any drummer living or dead that you can't match or even surpass playing the drums. I really enjoy your videos. You are a modern day Superman of drumming. To teach yourself every beat of a complex drum part and memorize what and when is a special gift you have.
Absolute stroke of genius as always!

Beautiful Charleston dance rhythms executed perfectly. If it was possible to play it in a more relaxed way in the style of Morello it would be even better.

Great to see you Tucker The GasMask doing another Buddy Rich swinging drum solo.Your left hand the way you hold the stick is perfect for this type of very demanding drumming. Wonderful single stroke triple feel with accents on the snare drum that makes it so musicial ! I’m so glad to receive a comment from you Ken! I’m always practicing to improve my stick control as good as Buddy Rich himself! Since there’s no jazz live gigs coming up, I finally decided to transcribe every Buddy Rich solo as much as I can, haha. Hoping to gather some information of techniques that Buddy used. I always watch your videos as soon as you upload, and it is always amazing that you have wonderful band and rare written charts! I’m looking forward for the day when I can go over there and watch it in real life!

Thank you so much! I’m so glad to hear that from you. I can be proud of how I have been practicing over the years! I believe my biggest teacher is Buddy Rich though I’ve never met. I want to hear from you sometime about how he really sounded in real life!
@@MrCrazyGasMaskMan I saw him several times in concert, sometimes up close at Disneyland. You have captured the excitement he delivered and I can tell you Buddy would be very proud of your playing. I would just say develop your own unique voice on the set rather than always imitating Buddy. That way you can improvise on what he did while presenting your own ideas as well. This is not a criticism, just a suggestion. Your a great player.
@@Drumminman4U Thank you so much. I've been practicing especially focusing on his movement which is more beautiful than anything. And I'm always thinking about developing my style but borrowing some words from my favourite drummers. I'm sure you'll get this idea: what I'm doing is just like the language learner copies the way of speaking of famous people's speech. Thank you for watching, since the last one 3 years ago.
