It was so funny how my guy just magically appeared to say the name in Cantonese. 😆
She should give him a raise. Oh...wait. Heheheheh
Who is he? Does he have a channel?
@@JasonPangDotCom He's her husband, partner or something.
Great video! Just to note, "6 feet under" (or 2 meters lol) is not referring to the underworld but specifically the burial depth of the body. It's a more morbid way of saying "he is buried here".
Mr. Robot was a great show. It was ahead of its time. B.D. Wong should have gotten an award for his work in it. Your analysis shows what a great job he did in two languages. The character he played, Whiterose, was somewhat affected, and somewhat evil too as that last clip showed. So that might also explain some of the stilted melodramatic speech.
I wish Lee would instantly materialise beside me every time I needed to correctly pronounce Cantonese names/phrases lol
I love your shorts and think you’re a brilliant comedian - it’s so nice to see another dimension to who you are. Excellent.
I love your curly hair!!! Looks amazing on you
Great video Chinese is such. Hard but interesting language
I'm glad you're reacting to this show. Chinese aside, it's an amazing show, and you should totally watch it when you have the time.
Aww I always enjoy when it's like "good job, actor!" BD Wong's character is meant to be a Chinese national, yeah. I'm being intentionally vague because spoilers, and this was a cool and kinda surreal show that's not really a straightforward narrative - worth watching if you're into that!
I'm enjoying these vids more now I'm actively learning Chinese a little too, training my ears on the tones and all that. The "yue" explanation is great! I think the wildest thing for me was opening a pinyin chart and seeing how many distinct sounds there were (before even getting into tones), so seeing how they're made is a big help in distinguishing them. Shoutout to the sudden wild Lee appearance!
I Love Chinese With Jessie This Make Me Very Happy ❤️💯✨
Teacher Jessie I really want to learn Mandarin, i really love all of ur videos and I am learning a lot from you 😊
I love your content so much. It motivates me to learn Mandarin. I always loved how it sounded. I can't wait until I can understand Mandarin.
maintaining your elegance when they started urinating on the tombstone made me laugh pretty hard lol.
Great videos. You've inspired me to learn Chinese too. ❤
I'm here for your hair, love it!
I love your dress. I'm so jealous of you Chinese with the colorful pretty clothing. You can like mix reality with cosplay and play it off perfectly and I'm just so jealous. I love it!
0:33 That is particular for that character, and it is deliberate.
She is a transgender woman, but didn't do transition hormones, so her body is still full on masculine. She is the prime minister in China, but it is her previous male identity, Zhi Zhang. She masquerades as "he" when on the "Prime Minister" persona, but switches to her true side, "Whiterose", when in close quarters with people she trusts or believes she has complete control over their actions.
there's something really wrong with am*rican shows
@@greenorange752 what
@@greenorange752 yeah there’s not enough covertly trans world leaders, agreed
Minister of state security*
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EXPLAINING YUE
that sound is soooooo difficult for me (anglos), it's not merely the spelling, it's also tough using zhuyin!
Seriously, no one else seems to have explained this sound combination, certainly not so well as you!
感谢您!!
Love the easter eggs in Mr. Robot. The silly pun name on the grave of the CEO at the start of the second example cracks me up every time. I'm surprised with the attention to detail in even the smallest props and background images that there was still so much for you to work with here. Whiterose was born and raised in China in the story, but using idioms from America like "6 feet under" seems to fit with her character in circumstances like this. It can't explain away the other things you point out though.
Facts
You should review the Mandarin in the Spiderman video game (2018). It's interesting 😅
1:57 Lee edited for less than a second got me dead
You are a good teacher😊😊😊
Thank you for the video! I love the chinese tones (a masochist taste)
Love the random Lee appearance.
Very impressive jessie
Thank you ❤️
I love the way that Cantonese and Mandarin sound!
I am a Chinese script writer .It is not even Chinese lines .It's English lines directly translate into the Chinese. Modern Mandarin is very efficient. We will omit the subject and attribute. Get to the point.if it is Chinese line here, transelate into English directly would be like "It seems he prefers Ecoin. (sign) Fussy man . Start the second plan. "
Jessie you should get this video to people who worked on the show so you can get hired for this kind of information
super interesting.
Love your videos😊Have you been to living in overseas?
Hi Jessie, love your videos. 谢谢你给我们学中文。Have a nice day!
Because I am ignorant and only (and barely,) speak English, I always used to think that Japanese and Chinese were the same language. They look very similar when written down and sound similar when spoken. I had a friend who was learning Japanese and he was saying that some characters from both languages look the same but mean different things in the differing languages. I never knew if this was true or not though. But is there really a Chinese language or is it really called something else, like Mandarin (nice oranges,) or something. I was never good at learning languages. I too French for 3 years, and I remember about 3 words! Still trying to speak native English at 53! Thanks, though Jessie! You are an amazing teacher for people with the brains to be able to learn other languages! I will stick with your shorts (pardon the pun!)
Hello :) I'm also from China 👩🏻
00:40 If her english is like a *rock* and her chinese is like *paper*
OH SHIT! SHE MUST SPEAK RUSSIAN!

Hey jessie u r so funny I saw u r all short videos 😂 I am from India 🇮🇳 u r neighbor
I loved your boyfriend popping up for 1 second ahaha wasn't expecting that
I love Whiterose and she's my role model (I am a Chinese trans woman!) but in my opinion if I remember correctly BD Wong knows how to speak Cantonese and he really should've spoken Cantonese during the show, even though I do understand why the crew wants him to speak Mandarin (because that's the official language of PRC).
Whiterose is my favorite Mr Robot character but she’s evil af
Please discuss about gidle especially their song hwaa if possible
White rose speaks in his/her particular manner and is intentional. BD Wong does this consistently through the entire series.
at the end : 🤣🤣🤣
Dude you only had like 30k subscribers a year ago. Now you have 3x that of Grace. Waaa 酷毙了! 🙆🏻♀️ congrats Jessie 🕸️🌷💖
Cuz of her reels
Yooo make a video on Laoshu... RIP Legend
Can tell that bd Wong isn't a native mandarin speaker but they have many native mandarin speakers on the show like the actor for his younger self and white rose's female assistant in season 4
Not a single person in that show spoke mandarin well. It was the most puzzling thing ever.
Mr. Robot is a great series about hacktivism, with an unusual main character. Best watched going in knowing as little as possible in advance.
as a german, it was really funny when she explained üüüüüüüüüü

*Wakanda* or *gay Wakanda.*
Got it.
This is easy.
She said sui ran yi wai 🤔🤔 although unexpected or unforeseen
Check out the Chinese in Stargate SG-1 Season9 Ep.17 and let us know how Daniel and Col Mitchel do....

The grandmaster in mandarin
I think you are really (too?) nice to these actors, everytime I hear them TRYING to speak mandarine, I feel so uncomfortable. I do like DB Wong but in this case his character is supposed to be a China minister : we do hear China's officials speaking with accent but DB Wong clearly does not speak mandarine natively, it sounds odd, it takes me totally out of it. BTW Mr Robot is an excellent show.
4:04 Maybe its my accent but my tongue is in the same postion for both e and u
>she
>her
about that
CEO literally 九泉之下 lol

yeah that peeing on the grave seen caught me by surprise too and i thought it very gratuitous...
