Thanks again for reacting to my request. She has always been a staple in my library of unique and wonderful musicians.
At the end when she says she says she needs a moment to deliberate. NO she does not. The end scene with the smoke and falling curtains is saying get the fudge away from me. I love this song. If you've ever been in an abusive relationship you get it totally.
I am a huge fan of Alanis. She has such a destinctive voice. I have most of her albums. I like the MTV unplugged version of this song aswell. That album is just amazing!
This performance was at the 41st Grammy Awards on February 24, 1999. Alanis won 2 awards that night - Best Female Rock Vocal Performance and Best Rock Song, both for Uninvited.
She wrote this song for the movie “City of Angels”. The producer thought it was to dark, so they didn’t include it in the movie
Love the way she sings with her whole being.
Lol, I always picture her smelling like either flowers or hemp. 😜
One of my favorite Alanis songs.
From the movie City of Angels! So gooood
I love her...she is so awesomely weird!!! I love it!!!
This was intense and impressive. I was a big fan of Alanis in the 90's. Even had a poster of her in my room. She was one of the power women of that time. This version with the orchestra is magical.
Such a great voice
She is one of my favorite female vocalists. Amazing.
Love, love this song..
I just love Alanis.... she has a wonderful voice... i know her from my youth... Yes Mr H, this is older, I am older 😂, but i still love her, and i love your reactions, thanx for your love for music!💜🌹
Alanis is great!
This was a hidden track but it was about what we'd now call abuse. An older music producer and she was a teenager/underage and it sounds like he took advantage and he wasn't even single. In her other songs you hear the insults he dealt her too. He later denied he did it and she was not in a good headspace after she had to sing about it a lot. She never named him as far as I know.
She is amazing! This was from the movie City of Angels it starred Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan. Another great song by her is Thank You.
She was ALL OVER the radio back in the late 90s......
More Alanis! Would love to see some Sinead O’Connor, Tori Amos, Ani DiFranco, PJ Harvey on this channel as well. 😀👍
Feel free to request them!
TORI AMOS is a piano Goddess!
yep, starting 40 sec I drool over the keyboard like you did
WOW!
Her lyrics are brilliant! I loved her back in the 90s. There is a meme of her and Anthony Kiedis from the Chili Peppers, it's hilarious! It seems like they're the same person😆.
She is confronting a stalker in the song.
🔥💪👍
This is by far my favorite from her
This song is crazy fr
I think the dark stage, orchestra.. Makes this even more potiant, she wrote it about a stalker fan who was getting to close and scary
👍
It is a 10!
how about Queen...
Somebody to Love...vevo
My copy of Bitter Little Pill got worn out at my house. Love this woman.
Great find.
✌💖👍
Jagged litte pill
She wrote that song about a grown man who pursued a sexual relationship with her when she was a girl. She evidently loved him too. I think he took her virginity if I remember correctly. She performed it for "City Of Angels" movie. A great fit lyrically for the movie. Blows my mind that they only used it for ending titles.
@truthfultea It was some interview 20 some years ago... in addition to her actually saying it in the song. I believe the guy was her manager or agent--someone involved in her career, anyway--when she was a Canadian pop singer and WELL under 18.
so canadian
I think the song is about Genesis 6: 1-4 from the bible, the story of the fallen sons of God. They were Angels who fell in love and had sex with human women. They created offspring known as Nephilim who were giants. Their love for human women was highly forbidden by God. They were cast to hell and are known as the fallen sons of God.
Her lyrics are subtle but absolutely genius. The song was also originally released on the soundtrack for the movie "City of Angels" which Nicolas Cage played an Angel who fell in love with a woman.
Yours is the best description/comment on the meaning of the song. I will add that this was the reason God flooded the earth to rid it of the nefarious DNA. But, the rainbows after storms are Hid promise He will never do it again!
