The ceramic tiles at the Opera House in Sydney come from the Swedish manufacturer Höganäs AB. During the construction of the opera house, extremely durable and aesthetically pleasing tiles were needed, and Höganäs was able to produce the glazed ceramic tiles that met these requirements.
I love videos like this. First: they're fun, but they also get people thinking about things close to home. I know a lot of people who take one vacation a year (usually to the same place), and never seem to know home or other places very well...outside of a favorite resort. Just thinking about how I'd make a video like this for Texas, there are all kinds of neat places to pick! (We might not have Stonehenge, but we have a recreation and -- even better -- Cadillac Ranch!)
Hey, Cadillac Ranch is definitely a worthy alternative to Stonehenge I'd say! And it would be a lot of fun to see Texan attractions compete with international ones. "Who needs the Alhambra - we've got the Alamo" :D
I wasn't expecting this video today, I thought it would be a geeky homage. But I did enjoy it. Definitely, Stockholm trumps New York in so many ways. The Lord of the Rings huts looks really good, I will have to look into that for sure.
I'm actually not putting up much geeky stuff on the 3SV channel these days - those videos often do pretty poorly. That's why I tried creating that new channel instead ^_^ But yeah they do look cozy don't they!
Another great video. Sweden does have a lot to offer if you look for them. I’d definitely rather be in the Swedish park instead of Central Park in NYC. I love that statue of the woman praying over the drivers, I need her here especially if my wife is driving, but then again she may say the same about me, Stay safe till next time.
How sweet, I dont know why my heart always goes out for the Sweden all the way all the time! Love it ....❤ Sweden is my type of country 😊... Feeling a bit jealous everyone is in Sweden! why I'm not haha Really appreciate ur work; May God bess u & Sweden aswell.
Oh... Damn... Now I feel pretty stupid - I should have included that one! And yeah I didn't really feel like the pics I had of the Forbidden City were nice, so I took something else from China!
As a "whole day Swedish Chinese experience": Visit Kina Slott at Drottningholm (maybe a peak at the Royal Castle Drottningholms Slott too, where the King and Queen of Sweden actually live). The visit to Kina Slott will be more interesting if you visit during the summer, since the castle and museum are closed the rest of the year. I guess the building is very poorly insulated, and would be more expensive to heat up to a decent temperature the rest of the year, than the income from tickets to the museum would give. However you can look at it from the outside. It is in the part of Drottningholms slottspark that is open to the public. After all, Kina Slott IS on UNESCO World Heritage List!! Yes, it's true! Then, spend the evening at China Teatern in Stockholm city. It is a theater where the Chinese inspired decoration from 1928 remains, well cared for. Theater plays, musicals, entertainments of varied styles are given there. Not exactly the Chinese wall or the Forbidden City, but how a Swedish king, Adolf Fredrik (who never had been to China), assumed it looked from descriptions and drawings, when he designed the castle, and gave it to his wife Lovisa Ulrika in 1753. The architect of China Teatern, here IS a connection to the real China!, was Albin Stark, was inspired by his visit to Peking/Beijing, where he as the second person from the West was let into the Forbidden City! He also got some ideas from Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles. "Kina på vårt sätt"😅
@@ResonatingSweden I hope I'll have time to go up there soon though. Been meaning to make a video about the most beautiful place in Sweden, and the High Coast just might be it ^_^

That's amazing! I had no idea that Höganäs were producing those - even more of a Scandinavian connection to the Opera House.
Appreciate all your videos!!
Thank you so much! :D
Another great video! It's amazing what you can find in your own country, love it.
Agreed! I love exploring Sweden and finding unexpected things ^_^
thank you again for this great video.
And thank you for checking it out 😊
The closest to golden gate in Sweden is Älvsborgsbron. A suspension bridge crossing Göta Älv.
Fair enough! But I hope it has fewer people who've jumped off it...
What a cute and fun video! Thank you for making my day.
And thank you for checking it out :D
Heliga Birgitta fick mig att skratta högt :P
Ett jobb väl uträttat ;D
Nice list! 😊 And if you want to go on a safari trip but don't have the funds, you can always go to Kolmården. 😆
Haha yeah and that used to be even more true earlier, when you could go on a "safari" in your own car! They removed that years ago though :D
Wow, I didn't know it! I've only been there once in 1996, we didn't go in by car but I don't remember if it was allowed or not. 😅
@@Ed87 The safari part was probably sometime around then, but you had to book a separate ticket for it. Oh well, long gone now!
@@ThreeStarVagabond Thanks for the infos! It was indeed a long time ago...
NEVER "stuck" in Sweden! I love Sweden - I travel there on purpose! Swedish heritage & culture rocks! 🥰
Happy to hear that! But it is quite Swedish to be self-deprecating as well so it fits 😀

Dragon Gate - lol. Driven past several times, both on the motorway and the smaller one towards Älvkarleby.
Haha I like it. It looks quite nice even if it's an insane project :D
I have to visit these myself! I have been living in Sweden my whole life and i never thought of these attractions. Thank you!
Happy to be of help! :D It's really fun to explore Sweden - sometimes you forget that there's a lot to discover in your own country
During my travels to sweden. I like the rural emptiness and beauty in between cities. Sometimes, there can be odd things to be seen.
I like small Swedish rural towns and the countryside. Quite charming. I might not want to live there though 😊
@ThreeStarVagabond i would if I ever retire

Hmm... I don't think so - that series takes place in Södertälje, a town south of Stockholm.
