    good video - I had a similar experience with a Kubota on my brother in law's block. Ran the whole tractor up over a big tree stump aboout 12 inch off the ground - didnt see it as it was surrounded with brush. High centered it under the stump (probably was going a bit fast) and it tetered and then fellover sideways with me able to get far enough away so it didnt fall on me. It didn't have Roll Over Protection Bar like you have but it could have been deadly. I had a friend who was killed on his bush block while cleaning out a culvert. All I can say is walk the job before you venture into the scrub and you should be safe

    Awesome video! One thing I often think about when clearing my property is how cool it must have been a hundred years ago when you could go to the general store and buy a box of Dynamite. Punch a couple holes under a stump, lite the fuse and run... Then all you had to do was drag away the stump and fill the hole. 😃👍

    I like the old apple orchard. Looks nice and neat. It would make a nice place for another mini cabin

    Very good tip on watching out for pulling trees down on top of you with the back of the bucket. Clearing trails in my mostly wooded property, I have had this happen to me. It's also a good idea to wear a hard hat in the woods, you never know when you'll dislodge a hanging dead branch.

    So many excellent videos Mike and this one might be my favorite. I’m getting ready to clear some new trails and connect some old ones using the JD 1025R and Woods RC4 rotary cutter. My woods aren’t quite as dense as yours although I’m meeting with a state forestry guy next week to develop a management plan. Not to log, rather to enhance my forest and improve wildlife habitat. Btw, I’m probably 3 hours due west of you in Ohio.
    Thanks for all the work you put into these videos Mike.

    Mike, nice video. Dad used to tell about digging and burning stumps, they used dynamite once in a while but it cost money and the four sons didn't. Take care. Greg B.

      I’ve had Facebook for a very short few weeks before promptly deleted it. It’s already got my info but I’ll never go back. It’s not worth it. I can still remember a school assembly where they asked everyone to raise there hands if they had a Facebook and I’m the only one that didn’t. People around me were in disbelief.

      I work in digital marketing. While I agree with you about Facebook, what do you think Google is doing? Google could buy Facebook with their pocket change on any given Tuesday. By the way, you're on Google right now...Since Google owns UA-cam. Bottom line: If you're using a product online for free...You ARE the product.

    Sir, I am offering a tip that I find very helpful in maintaining my 3701 and attachments. We all know equipment must be greased and often. I take a 3/4" or 1" flat washer and place it next to the grease zirt. I then use a yellow enamel paint pen and fill in the hole in the washer. This is great if you are forgetful, like I am. I get grease in every fitting without missing any. If you like this, you may want to share it. I see a lot of first time tractors owners on your channel that this tip may be useful.

    Mike! Dad and I watch your videos, and have learned a lot, thanks!
    Questions for you:
    We are getting ready to buy a Kubota, and will be doing property work similar to what we see you doing.
    Love the 3901, but for not much more we could get into an MX4800 with the beefier loader and bigger implements.
    Do you ever wish you had gone with a bigger model Kubota? Any plans to upgrade?
    Thanks!

    • @OutdoorsWithTheMorgans
      @OutdoorsWithTheMorgans  7 років тому +1

      Depends what you are doing but for not much more money I would go with the MX4800. What I will probably end up with is two tractors. A M series and a B Series. Thats what I really could use but couldn;t justify two at the time so went with the L in the middle if that makes sense.

    Great video Mike. I'm looking forward to the video of the excavator this weekend. Please mention in it what it coast you per hour or day. I'm sure it will be a little different here in SC on the coast. I'd just like to compare. I hope to do some work on my property this fall when it cools down. Keep up the good work.

    Been doing a land clearing project myself lately. I have a B series Kubota and I am so glad I bought it. Do you have any ideas for clearing stone ledge? I'm a bit on a budget so hiring someone is out of the picture. I heard fire-setting is a cheap option albeit time consuming. Any info would be great. Thanks.

    Any thoughts on planting some new apple trees in that area since it was previously an Apple Orchard?

  • @davidhendershott5663
    @davidhendershott5663 7 років тому

    a skid steer with a turbo saw will cut the trees at ground level, much less hours than the excavator and you just leave the stump in the ground, you cam move a lot of brush with just your loader bucket

    • @OutdoorsWithTheMorgans
      @OutdoorsWithTheMorgans  7 років тому +1

      Yes for some areas thats ok but you can't till or disc when you leave them thats for sure, I like just getting them out, grade it up, seed and be done dealing with them

    Mike, I'm surprised you don't have a backhoe attachment. When I first got my tractor B3350 two years ago I didn't get the backhoe because I didn't think I'd use it enough to warrant the cost. Well, every time I needed to do something I'd tell myself, "You know if you had a backhoe you could do ..." So, I just recently got the backhoe and haven't stopped using it except for the days it's raining. Now I'm tickled pink to have it.

      I keep thinking about getting one but Honestly I sort of save up my backhoe work then rent an excavator for a weekend here or there. I will have one over labor day weekend (First time this year)
