Tributes paid to 'hero' who died during Thames rescue

- The family of a man who died after jumping into the Thames to save a woman who had fallen from London Bridge have paid tribute to their "hero".
Folajimi Olubunmi-Adewole, 20, known as Jimi, reportedly was one of two men who entered the water at 00:10 BST on Saturday after spotting the woman fall.
The coastguard and the Met Police's marine unit rescued the woman and one of the men. A body, thought to be Mr Olubunmi-Adewole's, was found six hours later.
Mayor of London Sadiq Khan dsecribed Mr Olubunmi-Adewole as "a true hero of our city who gave his life trying to save another".

@@futbolproactive3059 sadly yes. Two men jumped in together Jimi (20) and Joaquin (21). Jimi got swept away and tragically drowned. Joaquin was able to reach the woman and kept her afloat until help arrived.
Yeah you don't get many rare souls about these days.. But atleast we know there are still a few selfless people about.. Well done to both men.. Shame one had to lose his life.. May he rest in peace.. 🙏

On all platforms BBC have written hero in speech marks as though to demean the credibility of Jimi. Take away the speech marks and put some respect on his name and respect his grieving family. Jimi is a HERO! No question, no doubts! Many wouldn't even think to risk their life for a stranger.

The only reason we know about this is because he died. Dying does not automatically qualify a person as a hero. If they had called the RNLI and let them deal with it, everyone might still be alive.

Jimi Olubunmi-Adewole was a hero; Captain Moore was not. Captain Moore had a cushy WWII in India, and returned home alive.
