Great video! I was wondering what happened to Chris and Ricky. These guys greatly influenced my first diy build. I bought a lot of my parts based around this m5 board. I learned how to do everything myself and it's a really good board. Much better than most production boards I've come across so far. I've also learned a lot now that I'm putting into my second diy board. I've also found a group of 5 or so guys for group rides in my city. Needless to say I'm hooked on ESK8.😅

*A very balanced and fair assesment/review of the situation,* really enjoyed this. True customer service is how a company deals with things when things go wrong. I doubt they had a proper team dealin with things, a very naive step into sellin boards. I think they tried to Fly before they could walk lol.
I think this is spot on… taking a DIY project to a full business is tougher than I think a lot of people realise. It does look really good and they could have improved the boards over time and would have been good to see a V2, but yeah maybe taking on too much too quickly to really make it work
One thing that was funny about this board was Ricki and Chris criticizing the generic Chinese DKP trucks comparing them to Evolves and then installing the same trucks on their boards. As well as cloud wheels....
I thought you be honest and open there are riders who put a lot of trust in these guys how would they review this board?it’s a huge shame they let this happen …I can see why evolve distance their self from them Where are they now ? Why ain’t they addressing some of the points your guest bravely put across I’m gutted it didn’t work out for them but why didn’t the skate community help them out ? Seeing the only damage to the M5 deck was done by Chris and Ricky im glad it’s Been taken off the market …not that easy is it lads

I have the pre production board that you say you test rode….it took Chris over 3 months to POST it. That’s all I was waiting for. The board id give a 8.5. Only real fault for me is the range and the W shape deck makes it a little awkward for me personally to get comfortable on it. Customer care id give a 0 and I blame chris 100% for that. After care is non existent. Value for money I’d give a 8. Build quality was a little ropey to be honest. My motor mounts were hand tight and the king pin had been tightened so much the bushings were squashed over the nut!

I find it funny and ironic that they had previously slated Trampa on Average Eskate reviews for Trampa customer support only for them to find oy how hard the business is especially with regards to "Customer Support". Anyway , i could not afford a Trampa or Apex and luckily did not go down the M5 route but instead brought a cheap Chinese SYL-08 type electric mountain board then spent a few months rip[ping all the electronics and replacing them with a VESC and LIPO's and a pair of 3500 watt motors. So for around £1000 I am riding a true 7000 watt board which is great but lacks any refinement that comes from a "developed" board. It is not for everyone as it gets dangerous but nothing like the fun of putting your faith in what you built and test riding a board you built/modded.

I’ve had a couple go’s on em when visiting the lads and they seem bonkers good to me I just don’t hear much about them from the esk8 community and I’ve no idea why 🤷♂️ . To be fair I’ve only ever tried evolves and a one wheel and the urban carver makes them look like kids toys 😂 you should go see them and take your board and see how they match up. Tho I think you ride 4wd, right ?? They have the ability to do that im sure but I don’t think done it on a carver. Either way we digress from the main point that this was a solid video and superbly handled by you sir especially given the irony of the ‘average skate’ opinions and then ‘unknowns’ subsequent downfall for the very issues they so vehemently put across on the show. Which other company offers this typ of support? This also cost money of course which is like you said part of their fairly high prices. Onsra för instance imports a painted rock hard wooden deck with generic Chinese parts at a high price.

What turned you off evolve in the end? I watched one of your reviews of the GTR that was really positive, did something happen? It seems a lot of the UA-camrs that once loved evolve have all turned away from them.

All evolve stuff is off-the-shelf chinese as well besides the remote and ECS
