That’s what I’m saying. I just got into printing and there’s a niche JB could fill. I’ll be been watching so many videos and they’re more frustrating than helpful.
Nice video Josh. Been doing cad for a while for 3d printing and cnc and find working with mesh files a huge pain, which is why I also share step and sat files when I post things and wish more people would as well.
But for complete Noobs like myself I only received my 3D printer for Christmas 2 weeks ago I always thought I wish I could do this but didn’t know how until you my legend showed me this is why UA-cam is so valuable to the world of makers and builders in our time I thank you for all of your help and can’t wait to see more thanks 😊
I find taking aspects that I want from other models and redesigning the model to how I want it or just designing any object from scratch is very addictive, Blender is what I like to use for this, and the printing is just the last step.
I have been doing CAD design for about 20 years now but . . . thanks for covering this. Nice to know it is available. I can see using this to combine items I have previously drawn up in CAD for one off prints.
Yes, yes, yes. More tools in the toolbox is always a good idea! I recently just printed a block 100% infill and just drilled the holes I wanted with a regular drill to mount a backup camera. Is there a way to drill holes in software? Sure, but with more tools it's easier for me to do things "quicker" and I still want to learn the software along the way eventually. UA-cam algorithm sent me here, it's scary how well it knows my hobbies now. LOL!
I wanted to add as I use CAD, but this video is great one tip that I do is I have a folder on my PC that I call tools for my bambu slicer , basically for example I made a simple image of a skrew hold so one cylinder for the hole and a larger cylinder on top big enough for the head to sit in and a simple chamfer along the bottom and f the head to make it sit nicely. Now using bambu I can add a negative part, and load that screw and bam I have the ability to cut a hole out where I want to screw an item to a wall. Long story short as you make miner adjustments start saving these items you make so you don't just have basic shapes to pick from.
A new bambu printer sure does get the creative juices flowing,.... I have the X1C. Didn't order it with the AMS,.. now that's on the way. It is so cool the way it just spits stuff out so perfectly. Even "slow" nylon carbon fiber prints are fast and easy.
@@likwidkool I didn't get it originally because I tend towards functional prints and a lot of carbon fiber. But the other day I saw that their PaHT-CF filament will work with the AMS. So I mostly want it as more of a filament management system, and maybe I'll also do some occasional multicolor for the kids.
@@rcrdps8144I want to get into that too. Printing random shit is fun but I want to use it also to solve things. Printing my quad parts is the best part. The ams is handy to store 4 rolls as well.
LOL, Dammit Bardwell you did it again! I have had my P1S since Nov and I have used it quite a bit since. I don't normally edit existing STL files as I am 3D capable with SW but I ran into a Thingy print I needed to alter a few days ago and used my goto Tinker CAD, as it does a great job of modifying files. I saw this vid and you adjusting that file through the BB slicer and I was like "what the hell" LOL, great job, I definitely learned something today!
Dude...... serious game changer!!! Thanks a bunch for sharing this knowledge!!!! I am brand new to 3d printing and this is very powerful!! Thanks again!!!

I've been trying to learn cad forever, but this opens up a while works of possibilities for me. I don't even have a 3d printer, but this might let me mash things while I still struggle through the uphill learning curve that cad seems to be. 😁

Awesome. This is a very informative and helpful video. Recently got my first 3D printer, the A1 mini. This would been a big help. I did find a video tutorial by mute fpv using Tinkercad. It worked, but your way seems easier. Made a fin for my Apex using two different files. 👍😎
This will help me so much as i want to sculpt the shapes for my car dashboard in VR, but i need to fit them perfectly in correct scale to other parts.. i did not think i could do it in slicer! One problem less to solve!

Was just tinkering with fusion 360 to get myself familiar with cad before I get my very first printer! Love that you can do this saves soo much TIME and effort 🤑 thanks Bardwell
Still worth to learn Fusion if you enjoy the process of it :) Once you want a really unique or more complex design it's much faster and more accurate being done in fusion and for non-commercial use they have their free hobbyist license.
@@Leif_YT Well I only use Fusion 360 because of the cost. If I'd. pay for a cad I would pay for Shapr3D and use it on my iPad. It's not yet parametric but way more intuitive and has less buggs shame that there isn't a affordable hobbyist license.
Great. I just started to use Orca slicer a few weeks back. It's nice to learn from you again. I watched your channel a lot 2-3 years back to learn how to set-up Betaflight, OpenTX etc. Then I bought a 3D printer to print some TPU camera mounts and kind of spent more time on 3D printers than flying.
Agree, cad is time consuming! But it’s so satisfying if you can design things in onshape. But yes, took me a few weeks in total to get it to feel intuitive ;) Orca is great. Been diving into 3d printers myself lately. Have 5 currently in my small hangar ;) Greets, Mario
This is actually pretty handy, I have just used this in bambu slicer to join some 3D labprint planes together. fusion 360 is not fun when it comes to mesh models.
I love your 3d Printing Content. My kids and I are going to try and play with this in Prusa Slicer tonight. I'm still trying to figure out how to make an EZ ID/Omni Antenna Mount for my Squirt Cinewhoops.
Well, I do everything, even combining of different STL object in Fusion360. Moreover, designing, measuring and merging is very convenient and quite simple in Fusion360.
Question... I tried to follow your directions, and at the 9:40 part of the video, when you add primitive cylinders and then move them to the holes to cover them up... when I do this, the cylinders appear with no top layers after I slice. It shows the cylinders with the infill showing. What am I doing wrong?
Hey many might have known this trick but not everyone like myself really did so thank you can have enough info tutorial videos the more the better thank you
LOL, Josh, you have the A1 on the brain! You must secretly want one. You mentioned that you had an Bambu Labs A1C a few times in your video. Honestly, I have an X1C and I'm thinking about getting the A1 myself. 🤣
Joshua, if you ever wanted to get back into trying your own 3D models, fusion 360 is free. It just has a few restrictions in how many projects you can create at a time but it's fully capable.
Can i mesure things point to point? Because nice to if can when you want scale up and want to see holes parts if the right size ,i want to see slicers to do more cad thing in the software, cura can't cut models if you don't use plug-in like banana split
12:50 there is a free version of Fusion 360 for personal use as long as you don't earn over $1000/yr using it. ie. a hobbyist license. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles but it can do pretty much everything that you need for 3D printing and it's pretty easy to learn enough of the basics to sketch up parts like this.

Interesting that you couldn't run Orcaslicer since it's a fork of the Bambu Studio, which is based on Prusaslicer. But yeah, you can see the rotate tool next to the move tool. You might need to do some cutting and other tinkering but you'll be able to get what you want in the slicer.
