A Half-Blind Bison - The Realities of Life at Elk Island National Park

- Our cameras sometimes reveal more than what we intended. While reviewing footage afterwards, I was surprised to find I had filmed what appears to be a bison blind in one eye. I was also fairly certain she had a yearling calf along with her, and this made me wonder how injured bison are handled at Elk Island. The Bison Backstage Tour gave me the opportunity to ask this question.

Beautiful and very nice to see that she is still with the herd and raising her young.
Interesting to learn about the bison. Nature is tough on animals sometimes. Hopefully all will be good. Have a great day.
It's nice that they still preserve and let the bison roam around there. May the half-blind bison thrive well.
Good morning Donna ~
Very interesting observation. Sorry for them 🙏
Bison 🦬 nice capture
R u not scared to go near them 😅
This time we were in our vehicle which they tolerate as long as it's still a reasonable distance away. The zoom lens really is great for seeing up close, too. Thank you Aishu.
Thanks y'all 🏞️🤝
Such beautiful animals, and that girl seems to be doing just fine doesnt she Donna 😀💞
Life offers us so many moments for greater learning and greater understanding. The half-blind bison teaches us about not just looking, but seeing. Thank you, dear Donna.
So impressive and majestic. Love these amazing animals. They are a true presence. I'm glad you love them so much you film them and share with us. Fabulous images. 🩷👌🇳🇱🙋♀🥝
Thank you so much, Anita! It was interesting to spot the half-blind one afterwards.
You get to see so much. Amazing. These Bisons are so huge. LIKED 👍👍👍
So interesting to learn about the bison. I’m glad to hear about the female still holding her own despite her being blind in one eye. Always nice to see them Donna. Thank you. 👍😊🇨🇦
Thank you so much, Christine! Have a great day.
Poor bison ❤ its good they are monitored and I'm sure she has adapted well with her disability
It was good to see she's doing alright and I'm glad the safety in numbers works in her favour. Thanks, Matt!
Hello Donna. They are beautiful animals. A beautiful moment to see them. Greetings and have a great day.🌞Pavel🦊
What an amazing momma! We have a momma bear here with a physical disability named Eileen. She has only one ear and has a limp on her leg but she has thrived and has raised her young stronger than ever. It’s incredible to see these animals not give up and keep going. A lesson that definitely us humans can learn from.
Great video Donna!
Amazing that she is managing still 😊 lovely to see, beautiful animals
Well I hope she can live a full life in the park with the herd Donna. Amazing to see this!!
I hope so too. She seemed to be managing just fine, and they use their senses of smell and hearing a great deal as well.
That is good news as it should be. Left alone to manage without interference unless absolutely necessary. Thanks for the information accompanying your beautiful film of the bison herd. Best regards, Cathy
Thank you so much, Cathy! It really was interesting to spot her among the group.
I'm grateful she's been able to be there. Bison are an interesting group, a favorite of mine. Thanks for the video 😊
I have to agree, they are amazing animals. Thank you so much!
Unos animales fantásticos 😀👍. Un saludo y buen fin de semana.
It is so nice that the bison is thriving and also raising its young despite the disability. Very nice video.
wonderful footages of bisons roaming around there...very scenic and relaxing place....great coverage.....big like
Amazing capture moment Byson 😍
Thank you for sharing Donna🙏🏾😊
Glad you enjoyed it Martha!
Nature is sometimes kind and sometimes not, so is life we all have good times then there is the flip side.
The people of the old world understood the way of nature. 🙏👍
Hello Donna.
I watched the video yesterday and commented but it didn't send.
I love these beautiful big animals.
Your voice is so easy to listen to, you are very good as a narrator.
Glad to hear the Bison blind in one eye is managing fine.
Great job👋❤️
Thank you so much, Jamie! I have become quite fond of the bison as well and I'm glad that even the half-blind one will get to keep living on.
Hi Donna,, thats such a great park and its nice to hear how well taken the Bison are! Sad she is blind in one eye but great she is doing wonderfully and raising her baby!!
It was fascinating spotting her in the footage afterwards but I am glad she is able to keep on living and doing all the things a bison should do. Have a great day, Brenda!
That is good to know Donna...thanks for sharing the information with us and the footage too!
Bison are so interesting! Nice capture! Looks like they are in a great refuge area........
Amazing animals. Life in nature is sometimes hard for them 😢
I love bisons
Well spotted, good to hear that they will be left alone to live their life. Good video.
Wonderful to see ❤

This is really interesting -- we've got so much love for al the animals ♥
Thank you so much!
Such a shame (nature can be harsh as you said Donna ) but for the moment the mom and calf seem to be ok 🙏🏼
Best wishes Simon 🤠👍
Hopefully she continues to do well especially if she stays near the others. Thank you, Simon!
Nice to get some background on how they operate
It was for sure! And great to be able to ask questions.
A half-blind bison in Elk Island National Park. I felt the harshness of animals living according to the laws of nature.
Very true. Thank you!
The Realities of Life at Elk Island National Park, nice video.
Thanks
Beautiful vedio thanks for sharing

Wow 😮 เป็นสัตว์ที่น่าทึ่ง
I hope the bisons live well. This is a very informative video.🦬👍

Donna a question from ignorant me:
Do all mature bison have horns?
No worries. They all have horns. The females have smaller horns and even the young calves develop little buds as they grow.
@@DonnaTaibossigai thank you Donna
