So what is this for is this for the 12 valve 5.9 cummins or what you never stated in the description or the caption it looks like a Cummins to me but I really can't do I'm fairly new into the Cummins I didn't know that it had a side cover to me it kind of also looks like a 300 6 cylinder Ford but I think it is a Cummins 5.9 the reason I say that is because that's what I looked up and it brought me to this
I have a problem with mine leaking oil and I thought it was coming out of the pipes on the bottom of the oil pan then I get to looking up and I see it's coming from somewhere up higher but I can't see what it is behind the injection pump I have a little oil around my valve covers at the top but it don't look too oily it looks like it's just there well anyway I get to looking on here trying to find the intake gasket change and I can't find it nowhere so anyway I come across this tappet cover and I hope that it is not coming from there cuz that looks like to be a job
@@LowQualityFilms-in1og Great, thanks! I actually found a Cummins service center not too far from me. $25 for the gasket, so I think I will just run over there and pick one up. Appreciate the speedy reply!
I see you have found my descriptive powers weak. I commend you on your observation and reasoning. This is a Cummins first gen 12 valve out of a 92 Dodge W250. I hope you have found what your looking for.
@@Linkys_Adventure if it has not already been done to your engine by the previous owner I bet it is. One option instead of taking the injection pump off is to remove the head that will also give you access. I have not done this yet but seen it done.
@@LowQualityFilms-in1og I'm figuring out where it's coming from it is starting to look more wet everyday now it appears to be coming from the valve covers I purchased the gasket set on ebay for $10 at autozone they wanted $59 for it it's crazy the price difference
nice and clean job! keep it up
Love the fast forward! Awesome!
Awesome vid, very helpful :)

Did you need longer bolts for those thick washers
No O-rings on the Bolts???

It most likely is the tappet cover.
What brand gasket did you use? I'm about to do mine on my 24v 5.9. Wondering if I should go with the Fel-Pro or genuine Cummins?
All my gaskets I ordered from genos garage. Almost all of them are Cummins except the exhaust manifold gaskets.

Can a leaky tappet cover cause white smoke at the exhaust?
No
Do you think I should apply small amount of gasket maker?
And yes it is a 5.9 Cummins I see now
