- Morning everyone!!
I hope that everyone is having an amazing day!
In this video I went to harvest and be on the lookout for more Maple walking sticks. I really enjoy working and selling these sticks because of the versatility that they offer. While on the harvest I forgot to bring an important tool that I use to gather the stick.
Please enjoy the video and:
Get out there!
Have fun!!

Nice Video Jeremy! I'm going to mention this video and your channel in the next episode of Wood Carving Weekly.
Oh that's awesome!
Thank you so much for the shout out! I'll definitely check it out
I also harvest my walking stick stock from my hunting grounds. Your video makes me want to get back out there! Enjoyed this video.
Harvesting is by far would I enjoy the most out of the whole walking stick process!
I can not believe how straight your sticks grow. Everything up here grows around corners!
@@paulleeper3188 hahahahaha now that was pretty funny. But where I'm harvesting the sticks have no choice but to grow straight up because of the larger trees around them taking most of the sun. So growing straight makes him get the sun quicker.
Persimmon it very hard wood I have some I made from it. and many maple and oak ones I have made. I like seeing you go out and get the wood. Do you use Hickory? From your window sticker what was your MOS?
Hickory really doesn't grow in abundance where I'm from, the same with sassafras. I wish they both did. Maples Oaks Sweetgum grow in an insane amounts here. I was a corpsman in the Navy attached to 3rd battalion 8th Marines for most of my time.
@@stickin2it I was 19kilo M-1 tank US Army under a real leader Ronald Reagan. thanks for your service. Here in NC Hickory is everywhere I like using Oak the best.
Always enjoy your videos. Could you explain how you identify each type of sapling? I guess once the leaves come in it'll be easier but when I'm hiking in the fall and winter I'm always curious as to what type of sapling I'm seeing. Whenever I see a straight one I'm thinking "walking stick".
Yes sir!
I'm working on that video now. This time it'll be in the springtime because the leaves are out. I should do a fall one as well whenever that time comes around. Where are you located cuz you might have the same trees as I do around here. Maybe some difference.
@@stickin2it I'm outside Columbia SC. I see a ton of Lobloly pine, sweet gum, maple and oak but without the leaves I can't tell the difference and the bark on the saplings look nothing like the bark on a full grown tree. I'm just curious, I'd like to be able to tell the difference when my wife and I are out hiking. You seemed to know which were which even from a distance and identified the poplar from just a sprout. Thanks!
If you turn your cap around, the bill will block the sun....
Science has figured it out boys!!!
@@stickin2it Just good old common horse sense.
