Clay I am a member of yours but I have had a lot more success with the left hand in the fingers as per Michael Breed and Mike Malaska. How the palms hang down naturally is a key variable in my opinion.
There’s no right or wrong way to hold a club if it works for you I have one of the oddest grips people have seen but I can’t remember the last time I ever sliced pulled or didn’t put the ball where I wanted it. Even my misses are within 5yds on driver
Completely agree with your comment. Many pros implicitly assume every arm, wrist, bone structure is oriented the same as theirs where nothing is farther from the truth.
@@mrsmartypants_1 and pretty much all of them have been playing since they were children so their body’s have literally grown into accepted forms. I have large hands and a very meaty thumb there’s no way for me to place it under the right hand on the club it hurts and it always allows the club to move to much in the hand at the top of the back swing. I basically hold it like a baseball bat with left thumb exposed on the side of the club. I think it’s actually called a classic interlock grip without the interlock. I also have an extremely weak grip but that actually allows me to close the face more than a strong grip go figure.
When I stopped using thumb pressure? Boom, I release the club better and much more consistent re accuracy and yardage. I grip with left hand natural hang at side, then grip with right hand. I also purchased 1” longer clubs, and choke up or down for yardage adjustments, no more terror re between club yardages.
When it comes to grip it’s more of what works for you years back my game took off like a rocket once I took my left thumb of the club so it’s basically touching my middle knuckle this is what they call the classic grip today.
I'm confused about what to do with the right thumb. I don't see where you covered this. I was doing good at the range but the teacher there told me to move my thumb in line with the left thumb now I can't shallow anymore like that. By the way, I didn't ask him for advice he just told me.
Would you say if you were you fishing and had to send your fish line out into the water. There is only one way you can cast your line correctly. Is this the grip you are using?? You should bring a fishing pole and update this vid if it's the same grip you are doing. Please advise. Regards
Clay, this is a really great grip instruction! However, it is not completed yet; the right hand is missing urgently: what about your red fingernail, how to place it properly. This is equally important as compared to the left hand!
Everyone ELSE does! Especially pro golfers who are paid by manufacturers to use their equipment. I recall McIlroy using Titleist clubs while he was winning easily including majors. THEN he went for the endorsement money & his game immediately went downhill & it took a long time to recover when he switched again. As such a great player, he's been WAY too inconsistent & not winning much. These guys make millions playing the game but they need millions more from endorsements, even if it's not the best for their game. Truly a sad state of affairs. McIlroy should have had MANY more wins by now because he had the talent to do it, but sold out for money. Oh well, live & learn; or not.
Loved the lesson, I normally have a strong grip, on my off days I tend to loose the ball to the left, by fixing that I usually try to weaken the grip. Then I will starting another bad habit by having a very weak grip. Sometimes I can catch myself doing it early and change back, but most of time I end up trying play a fade which I end up blocking the ball. This lesson will give me a better idea how to fix my grip during the mid round blues. Thank you!
This is likely the least taught, or even mentioned by instructors everywhere, especially with beginners, who if not taught will always cause problems no matter how perfect your swing looks, or is perfect in every way, including the proper grip. Too much pressure causes tension in the hands, arms, forearms, & shoulders which has a major effect on swing speed, proper release & distance due to muscles being tightened & harder to swing easily & quickly thru impact. If you can't feel the weight of the clubhead when you hold it in front of you, your grip is too tight. Be certain this is correct before you swing the club. It's called a swing for a reason. It should swing freely, & not controlled with small muscles.
Love the black lines on the glove. Mine were higher so I have to try yours.

How does the grip change with a single plane swing?

I thought the grip wants to be more in the base of the fingers? On the demo it looked slightly higher in palm? 🤷🏼♂️
You concentrated on your left hand and didn’t show the right hand grip at all. What happened?
Around 6:40 in changed my life. Take money!!a bahaha

What would be your grip pressure?

I know that I don’t have a correct grip because I play cross handed.
