Never heard of Supertramp? You're making me feel old. I was 14 or 15 when this was released, so it's part of my musical "education." It got a lot of radio airplay in the day. It's about conforming and slotting yourself into the system. Or rather, not.
in fact when you look to reaction channels, you see that most of them have absolutely no musical knowledge, or pretend to. you make them to react to the biggest bands in the history of music since 1960 and they never know them ^^
A real classic there 🔥🔥🔥🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻 My favourite from this album is the title track. Crime Of The Century. It in the top 50 of the best Prog Rock albums of all time. Great choice K Wise 🤘🏻😋
Definitely Progressive Rock. Regarding 'happiness' check out Supertramp songs like Rudy, Asylum, Fool's Overture & Brother Where You Bound. They do happy and uplifting but they also do dark and depressing too.
@@eddhardy1054 'dreamer' is another upbeat song of theirs. Also a predecessor to 'its raining again' which isn't a happy song lyrically and in the musical outro though has a rather upbeat sound to it.
Sorry, correction 'hide in your shell' I think is the predecessor to 'it's raining again' 'dreamer' was more popular I think or its the one I've heard on the radio more recently.
The Album was released 1974 Lee try out the breakfast in America Album 1979 you may well recognise some of their hits on that album especially the logical song
Ok, time for you to enjoy some really amazing music from Supertramp. Listen to the this whole album, and then these albums: ‘Crisis what Crisis’ also ‘Even in the Quietest Moments’, ‘Breakfast in America’ is also good, but a little overplayed, but not overplayed for you. You can thank me latter.
Breakfast In America is a more upbeat sounding album though the lyrics are equally as serious as their previous albums. 'take the long way home' has that harmonica in the start of it too though playing a cheerful tune though the lyrics are more serious and emotional.
Every single track on this album is great. Rudy, Hide in Your Shell, If Everyone Was Listening, title track, Asylum, then Dreamer and Bloody Well Right. Try Rudy next. Absolute classic.
The Logical Song & Breakfast in America are the only songs most people seem to know. There are SO many amazing songs by Supertramp! “Bloody well right” “asylum” “free as a bird” “goodbye stranger” “Gone Hollywood” “From now on” “Give a Little bit” the list goes on!! Listen to the entire albums, they are AMAZING!!!
Yes, this is from the mid to late 70s. Supertramp is a British progressive Rock/ fusion Band. This era, (1960s to early 80s) is commonly referred to as the "Classic Rock" era. It was without a doubt, the best era of Rock music hands down.
I first heard Crime of the Century back in the 70's and became an instant fan. Your reference to Pink Floyd (my all time favourite band) seems appropriate as Supertramp were once labelled the poor man's Pink Floyd.
Bands like Supertramp, Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, ELP, Rush, and countless others pushed the envelope musically. Like seeing a great athlete your eyes know. When hearing musical instruments being played at an extremely high level with intelligent sophisticated composition and guess what? Your ears know.
Thanks, Infinite -- I get the Pink Floyd comparison --- This is actually my favorite Supertramp song.. they have quite a few hits... they remind me also a bit of "Squeeze" -- if you don't know them, I hope you will look into it when you have time & inclination -- for both bands, the balance between instruments & vocals is so great! I appreciate your reactions...
Supertramp's Crime of the Century should be listened to in it's entirety. It is a story. School is the just first song in the story. You are spot on however. This album was released in 1975 and Supertramp's heyday were the late 70's and early 80's before Roger Hodgson (composer of most of their hits and singer/lead guitarist) left the group in 1983. On this album You're Bloody Well Right and Dreamer were the big hits.
Listening to the conclusion - the last few seconds leading in to the next song - it reminds me of the band tossing their instruments and trashing them. Check it out again.
Welcome to the Supertramp rabbit hole. Once you listen to them, most people are hooked. I see your Pink Floyd reference. They are similar but also very different. Rudy, Bloody Well Right, so many great tunes to go to next. They formed in London in 1969 and were HUGE in the 70s and 80s. So glad to have grown up with this genre of music! Give a Little Bit is a great tune as well. Hard to pick a favorite but I think School is my personal favorite. So glad to see people doing reactions to them again! New subscriber after watching this video lol Cant wait to see more from you.
Supertramp were definitely a Prog Rock band...although at the slightly more pop end of the spectrum when compared to bands like Yes & Floyd. Might I also recommend a Canterbury band called Caravan who are kinda folky jazzy Prog.
it's called the 70's son, greatest decade in music history! one of the finest export's your country has ever given the world. educate yourself in the diversity of that particular decade!!! enjoy the ride.
Supertramp is in their own category. Pink Floyd is the last thing I think of when I hear them. But good reaction. This is my favorite song by them. Luckily the radio didn't play it enough to run it into the ground like their other songs. There's more to this song than you heard I guess. Like Johnny-too-good, you become a part of the establishment by conforming. "You're coming along".
Although Supertramp falls under the pop-rock category, their early albums (this is their debut album from 1974) belong more in the broad spectrum of prog-rock. (complex arrangements, longer songs, eager to experiment, often like several songs in one). As an old YES fan, I can't help but recommend another song from 1974. "The Gates Of Delirium", Album "Relayer" by YES.
Supertramp, indedibly stamped, crime of the century, crisis, what crisis?, even in the quietest moments, breakfast in America, famous last words, then who cares?
I saw Supertramp in 74 at a small venue in Detroit. They held weekday concerts for $2.00 with 2 or 3 bands who were up and coming. My cousin had heard their previous album Crisis? What Crisis? and talked us into going. First band sucked, next band Reo Speedwagon was decent and Supertramp came on and played this entire album and some of their old stuff. We walked out of that concert wondering how they were not big already. 2 months later they exploded. I saw Queen at the same venue. Ended up seeing them 2 more times After Breakfast in America they became too pop for me.
When you look to reaction channels, you see that most of them have absolutely no musical knowledge, or pretend to. you make them to react to the biggest bands in the history of music since 1960 and they never know them ^^
I mostly tuned out of modern music in the mid 90's when grunge was popular. I didn't mind grunge and some rap and pop of the time but after hearing more of Supertramp and Pink Floyd then others like Led Zeppelin my taste in music changed.
I was 17 when this came out the 70's were the best decade I think for music and still think that till disco(🤢🤮) a few bands have come along that are good but still old school for me 🇨🇦

Agree: Crime just hits all my buttons!
This is progressive rock. Same as Pink Floyd, Rush, Yes, Jethro Tull and others.
No, no, no and no again. Listen. More groove and jazz, and happyness.

First album I owned and played it until it was really scratched. Keep on down this Supertramp album. Every song is a banger. Great reaction Lee.🎶🎶💕💕🦋
Thanks Rebecca, I'll get back on them when I can 😁
Never heard this one from Supertramp. Liked it! Just heard The Logical Song and Breakfast in America, and they are on my good vibe list 🙂
Listen to the whole album
this whole album is just brilliant; the song Rudy is a must listen !!!
You have to add Mr blue sky from elo
Try "Crisis, What Crisis?" . Just as good; came out immediately after "Crime of the Century".
You've barely scratched the surface. But it's been a year so hopefully you're a lot more familiar with them now. Brilliant band, every track is great.

Goodbye Stranger is a great song by Supertramp

This one brings me back to my college days. Love it!
