So glad I found this! Gave plenty of ideas how to tackle the terrain that will come with the new Kill Team launch box. EDIT: would be great to see this in a Playlist as well!
For the doors, drill a hole, and use a thin jeweler saw. jeweler saw are made to cut intricate designs in harder materials, and you can do really easy curves. it's also quite inexpensive.
The best way for cutting out doors and windows (albeit it admittedly requires some light repairs with plastic terrain) is to first drill a hole into the frame (on a place that is easy to repair in the door) and then thread an omnidiectional saw blade (the spiral ones) for a wood saw through, clamp it into the wood saw on both ends and start sawing, until you reach the inital hole again and can extract it without further damage. Of course the sawblade itself works like a drill and removes quite a bit of material, so you might have to repair the door itself afterwards, but that usually only takes a bit of modeling putty.
Amazing work!!! Your flexibility and ability to adjust your plans to meet material restraints/realities, like the suprise walkway adjustments, is astounding and VERY educational!!

If you ever carve up realm of battle boards again look at a scroll saw as a time saver. A club here in the UK used one to carve up the fw realm of battle boards for modularity
I have razor sawed 40K ruins . The amount of cutting and sawing you did is jaw dropping. My hands hurt just watching. Getting to play on that terrain is going to be a life time event. Thumbs up to ZZ

Honestly man I think you should invest in a cheap coping saw/ jewlers saw. You can make a teeny tiny hole in terrain or whatever you want to cut, put the small round-shaped sawblade in it, fasten it down, and start making inside cuts that don't have you start on the outside. Both pieces can be saved and you dont have to deal with the painful cuts like the ones on the doors.
YES! Build the gorgeous terrain into the smaller modular tiles! Make non modular terrain modular! The modularity gods will certainly be pleased 😄 Nice dice btw ;)

Next you need to cut out a thick door like that metal hatch, you should try those little miniature carbide bits from Harbor Freight, or if you don't have that in Australia you can find an equivalent on Amazon. They chew through plastic, and as long as you go carefully with the rotary tool, it'll carve out a nice line which makes cutting out thick plastic sections relatively painless.
All in all, I think there is a hidden genius behind those tiles: Anyone: "They're so bad that I'd normally never buy them, but I'll buy them to show GW how bad they are!". GW: "Hey, as long as you pay, fam." Great vid as always though :D

Great idea to chop the sector imperialis into 8x8 squares! I got a set that I had planned to cut up, but was struggling with a plan. Now I'm about halfway through chopping them up into 8x8. But! What do you do with the Aquila and "saint" pieces that just wont fit in any other variation of 8 than 8x24"? Thinking about using them as big risers to get that massive hive city feeling myself, but would love to see what you can do with those pieces
That's EXACTLY what I'm going t o do too! Use them as walls of a plinth style elvated cuity block or maybe a fortified section of a forge world or something. They're definitely better as walls, although maybe a courtyard.
In future if you wanna use the dremmel to speed things up without loosing details you should mask off the area, this prevents anything underneath the tape from being damaged and only the part you dremmel being removed 👍. It's what car guys do to prevent body damage when cutting body panels so should work

My inner Imperial Fist is having a conniption fit around the 1:30 mark for a half minute or so due to the boards indeed not matching up cleanly as described.
Honestly, this would be the perfect terrain to play OPR Grimdark Firefight. It's a mini agnostic skirmish game and has much better rules for verticality than kill team. It's like a blend of Mordheim, Killteam, and Necromunda all at once.
Hmmm: - Cheap but sturdy knife with replaceable blades, change your blades often - razor saw and modelling side cutters if you're plastic kitbashing - a good spread of glues :)
