Man, your friends are so damn Lucky to be able to play with you and your terrain. Great video once again!
Thanks Teun, sadly ther eisn't much time for social gaminga the moment haha, life is crazy full on with growing ZZ and two young kids, but more gaming time will come I'm sure!
Damn straight!!! The lack of tessellation in so many of their kits is absolutely astounding.
I'm pretty stoked to see the installments to follow...great stuff, man!
Cheers Wulf, yes they need a good old whack with the modularity stick sometimes.
7:27 The moment Zorpazorp started his descent into Skavendom. Can't wait to see Skavenblight in a couple years.
That would be a funnnnnn build
Scratch build cool modular terrain from cheap materials? Hell no.
Buy extremely expensive thick plastic sets and carve them up to achieve the same? Hell yeah.
Gotta love this guy.
Is it terrain making if it isn't akin to self flagellation?
I don't get to decide what gets made. When the dark scenic gods speak, I obey....
@@Zorpazorp maybe make two more episodes, eh?
one where you use 3d printing to make a couple buildings one where you use scratch building
@@Zorpazorp We all know it. Worhship your father as a god, build a city as place of worship, watch him tear it asunder, make a trip to some ethereal place, get commanded to build terrain by your new gods. Pretty standard stuff.
Jesus, I am going to leave my wife and move to Australia to be your boyfriend. Loving the scale of your stuff. Mind boggling.
I thought he was in New Zealand, wait or am I thinking of Weta Workshops?
So size does matter after all ;-)
Australia :D
Hahahahahaha why thank you mate.
Ohhh yesss🤤🤤🤤
OMG i would love to have a battle on this map, Amazing work
I can't wait to play on it sooooooooooon
Map lol
That summoning ritual deserves all the UA-cam engagement we could give. hahah
hehehehehe yes it took wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too long to film but I love procrastinating for the sake of a good gag haha
This whole project is compeletely insane and I love it. Can't wait to see it finished and painted up
Cheers Matty!! Me too! I'm so nervous about that much surface area hahaha
@@Zorpazorp I predict lots of Airbrush.
If you don't want him already, check out Luke Towan (thats also the name of the UA-cam channel), he does really good dioramas
Wow, super impressive once again!! You're a wizard with this stuff! I struggle with not ruining basic MDF terrain, so watching you work with all this plastic is just nuts! I would have had a breakdown if I had just discovered I'd need to remake the walkways. Awesome video!
Thanks Discourse! yeah it came up well but it was a sloggggggg, I'm much more excited for the bits that go on top of this coming soon!
I love what you did there! Always thought the city tiles were poorly designed, but your idea punches it right into the gaming corner
I hope to one day match your narration... honestly. Love your videos!
Dude are you kidding me? Your visual style is flyyyyyyyyyy. Loved the podracer vid with Eric and Studs
That is some hardcore dedication to wargaming terrain. It just kept getting more and more impressive!
Thanks mate!
I know nothing about kitbashing and even less about terrain building but I just love watching you make these gorgeous monstrosities
Thanks Paul! Glad you enjoy the ride maybe I'll inspire you one day haha
The amount of videos you could do fixing GW things is boundless lol, seriously though I love hive city builds, city fights gave us some of the best terrain inspiration for gritty sci-fi
Haha very true indeed!
A man of focus, commitment, and sheer fucking will.
You’re my favorite hobbyist. Your army choice and taste is impeccable, and I’ve always loved Cities of Death, LOTR, Blood Ravens... most things you get up to. Those touches like the blasted-in door/bridge and reusing the lips are genius. Very inspirational and nostalgic. Keep on makin magic!
Thanks so much Yash! Birds of a feather dude
That board is coming together really really nice! Looking forward to what you do next. Also, just wanna say, I LOVE the enthusiasm in your videos. Great work dude
Thank you very much Pickle! Hope you're safe and sound over there
Amazing work!!! Your flexibility and ability to adjust your plans to meet material restraints/realities, like the suprise walkway adjustments, is astounding and VERY educational!!
Thank you so much Ryer, I really pride myself on that!
For the doors, drill a hole, and use a thin jeweler saw. jeweler saw are made to cut intricate designs in harder materials, and you can do really easy curves. it's also quite inexpensive.
love what you are doing with this build it would be awsome to see a battle on the finnished bored
Soon Thane soon!!
About to start my kill team journey tomorrow and this is hellllllllllla inspirational. Cheers from Denmark!
No problem mate!! Enjoy :)
Wow, what an amazing insight to your mind and how you approach these fantastic projects.
You sir are legendary.
Wow, thank you Spurious!!
Your terrain builds are actual sorcery. Keep up the great work, huge fan of your content!
I've been waiting something like this from terrain maniac such as yourself. I love everything cities of death alike! Have some old and new kits. This is going to be epic!
Incredible work, Lachie. Looking forward to seeing more of this.
Cheers Poppy!!
The best way for cutting out doors and windows (albeit it admittedly requires some light repairs with plastic terrain) is to first drill a hole into the frame (on a place that is easy to repair in the door) and then thread an omnidiectional saw blade (the spiral ones) for a wood saw through, clamp it into the wood saw on both ends and start sawing, until you reach the inital hole again and can extract it without further damage. Of course the sawblade itself works like a drill and removes quite a bit of material, so you might have to repair the door itself afterwards, but that usually only takes a bit of modeling putty.
Oh wow I have never heard of that technique, I'll look into it thank you so much!
Wow. I completely understand how much work that was. Truly impressed.
Thank you!
Looks so good mate! Don't even play 40K but this makes me want to! Love it
Haha cheers dude!!
That deserves a t-shirt.
'57 scapel blades and sheer f___ing will power.'
Hahahahahaha I'll add it to the merch suggestion list
Impressive work with the results to match. Your will is strong to engage in such a massive endeavor. I'm surprised your fingers weren't covered in bandages!
I cut myself seven times actually haha but thank you!
Just found this video. Love your video style - it’s chaotic just like me !! Subscribed 😎
Hot damn. This is incredible work! Excited to see the progression. Any news on a possible next episode in the LOTR series you had with Jacko and the gang? The whole ‘levelling up figures’ after each battle was brilliant. Cheers!
You mad scientist! Love it!
Cheers Knarb
Great job on these!
Thank you! Cheers!
Yes! more terrain builds, i always love your building journey videos. Any idea on when the streams might come back?
Very soon dude! We took a brief hiatus for the birth of my second daughter and that has dragggggged out haha but they're coming back very soon :)
@@Zorpazorp Sorry dude, I don't mean to push for those streams when you gotta spend time with your family. I was just hoping they would return at some point :) and I am glad they will be coming back
@@Morgulvale_ no stress at all bro :) I miss them too!
Your efforts are heroic.
That’s a CRAZY board! I can’t wait to see some battle reports on this bad boy.
Hurry up and paint your deathwatch
If you ever carve up realm of battle boards again look at a scroll saw as a time saver. A club here in the UK used one to carve up the fw realm of battle boards for modularity
All I can say is amazeballs. It looks fantastic. After getting back into the hobby after a long time. I love kit bashing might have to get back on to eBay and see what I can find but the misses is kicking off with what I've got already, this just might push her over the edge and she might leave giving me more room in the house to put stuff :)
Now it's painting time can't wait to see it full of grim color :)
Yes... bit scared of that!
I'm being taken back to my baby times with lego street tiles. That shit was the bomb!
YES IT WAS!
What an insane project to take on! The results speak for themselves though.
Thanks mate!
Truly awe inspiring! Makes me want to spend waaayyy to much money on Terrain and crafting materials lol Cheers from Canada!!!
Thanks Zopy!
LOVED THE THE GODS NEED A SACRIFICE, we always knew zorpazorp was made of dice, couldn't be human with how much work he does and creativity he has. Love you man
Hahah cheers Liam
Loving this series
Thanks mate :)
This is absolutely awesome dude!! 😍
Cheers Andy!
fun video ! your editing and storytelling has really improved ! i laughed a lot !
Thank you so much Jonas, I've really tried to hone my skills so that's nice to hear :)
>Gone a similar road with 3d printed tiles. I would recommend two neodime magnets on each side facing different dierections, but always on the same place.
Thanks for the tips!
hey a tip for getting threw those doors, use a drill to make stater holes and then widen them with the saw or blade
Honestly man I think you should invest in a cheap coping saw/ jewlers saw. You can make a teeny tiny hole in terrain or whatever you want to cut, put the small round-shaped sawblade in it, fasten it down, and start making inside cuts that don't have you start on the outside.
Both pieces can be saved and you dont have to deal with the painful cuts like the ones on the doors.
I remember when these came out. I spent weeks going back to look at it because I kept finding new layers of how bad it is. Imagined challenging myself to attempt to fix it up like this. Glad I didn't.
👌 such good fun to watch, a fantastic looking set up and such good fun to make by the looks of it too.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You had me at '...sheer f---ing willpower.'...lol
Haha cheers Diaz!
zorp you are a maniac, please continue
jokes aside you gave me some ideas for modular street tiles i've been considering making as part of an urban terrain tiles setup so thank you
Hell yeah! If you make some throw pics up on the facey group!! Cheers
my friend... you are a mad man :P ;) i was thinking about getting this one... to work on my templar display... but the main issue - as you stated - is the many different height issues ...
Hey, I've played on one of these! It was quite an experience.
Can't wait to see the final video but I also don't want this serie to end
As the final city will be 12x6 I think you're alright haha
@@Zorpazorp GLORIOUS!
Love the narration Bro👊🏻keep up the good work
Thanks! Will do!
It's beautiful. Everyone needs terrain like this.
Amazing work! 🤘🤓
Oh will do!
I had a blast watching this, you are making art with Greed Workshop rubish. With some Kill Team squads it will be fantastic. I bet Gimli would love to jump from the highest elevation.
But where is this elevator-in-the-work :D !?
Elevator coming soooooon I promise, and yes Gimmers would have to do well on that jump test!
Just love it! Keep it up!
Thanks Will!!
Love your work lachie. Been eagerly awaiting a new vid! keen!
You're going to like the next month then.... I've been nusy.......
That looks incredible!
All in all, I think there is a hidden genius behind those tiles:
Anyone: "They're so bad that I'd normally never buy them, but I'll buy them to show GW how bad they are!".
GW: "Hey, as long as you pay, fam."
Great vid as always though :D
Hahaha the hidden genuis of the strategy!
@@Zorpazorp Quoting a certain classic: "Hey, as long as it works"
YES! Build the gorgeous terrain into the smaller modular tiles! Make non modular terrain modular!
The modularity gods will certainly be pleased 😄
Nice dice btw ;)
Hee hee yes they will and they must be appeased!
@@Zorpazorp Magnets for the Magnet God! Tiles for the Tile Throne! 😂
My inner Imperial Fist is having a conniption fit around the 1:30 mark for a half minute or so due to the boards indeed not matching up cleanly as described.
It's heartbreaking isn't it haha!
The scale of this project is mind-blowing, I try not to think about the cost in material and time and just enjoy the ride :) Fabulous job so far loving the gouged walls.
BTW I like my Sector Imperialis Realm of Battle board and no one comments on how stupid it is modularity wise, even if it is ;)
looks amaazing! well done!
Thank you! Cheers!
absolute mad man!! love it!!
Jesus im glad my OCD is novice level compared to yours. I usually just open my terrain boxes and assemble them. Your table looks fantastic. Great video.
Dude. To whom did you offer sacrifices to get your hands on so many terrain kits? That's simply insane! Love it!!!
My teenage self sacrificed many part time job pay cheques haha
@@Zorpazorp Very nice. I just opted to watch this video again. Especially for that moment at 7:27. ;)
I have razor sawed 40K ruins . The amount of cutting and sawing you did is jaw dropping. My hands hurt just watching. Getting to play on that terrain is going to be a life time event. Thumbs up to ZZ
My arms are aching a week later bro haha Thanks mate :)
That's glorious!
Next you need to cut out a thick door like that metal hatch, you should try those little miniature carbide bits from Harbor Freight, or if you don't have that in Australia you can find an equivalent on Amazon. They chew through plastic, and as long as you go carefully with the rotary tool, it'll carve out a nice line which makes cutting out thick plastic sections relatively painless.
That sounds awesome thank you! I'll look into it :)
You chopped up those starter set ruins to make them more flexible? You madlad!
I was shocked by how easy it was haha
The intro confirms why this is fast becoming one of my favourite UA-cam channels
Ah wow thank you Glome :)
Great video, just subscribed
Thanks for the sub, glad you enjoyed it mate :)
Dude , love it , love it , love it
Glad you like it!
If you want one of these there was one in gamesworkshop in Ballarat, Victoria
Cheers Kieran!
Good job that razor saw had the lord of the west special ability
RIIIIIIGHT??????????? What a workhorse
You are a madman! This is AMAZING. Can't wait for some Horus Heresy.
Haha cheersy Mikey
Amazing, more dice burning!
I just love the FIGJAM vibe, Lachie. Please keep doing it :)
Hahaha it's moooostly tongue in cheek ;)
Great idea to chop the sector imperialis into 8x8 squares! I got a set that I had planned to cut up, but was struggling with a plan. Now I'm about halfway through chopping them up into 8x8.
But!
What do you do with the Aquila and "saint" pieces that just wont fit in any other variation of 8 than 8x24"? Thinking about using them as big risers to get that massive hive city feeling myself, but would love to see what you can do with those pieces
That's EXACTLY what I'm going t o do too! Use them as walls of a plinth style elvated cuity block or maybe a fortified section of a forge world or something. They're definitely better as walls, although maybe a courtyard.
Fantastic! Really looking forward to see what you do with it so I can pinch the good ideas and avoid some pain by learning from your pain :D
MOREEEEE!!!! This is awesome
Dude my god. Sick video. You guys rule.
Thanks man
12:58 “the floor plan here is even more DEEESPERATE”. Bro you’re not in Queenstown yet 🤣🤣
HAHAHAHAAHAHAHA yes.
Super work Lachie
Cheers Hoggy
Instructions unclear, ended up summoning a gaggle of bloodletters to build my house.
Ah sorry dude, I'll put the specifics in the description.
Bought your dice mate, loving the content!
Thanks so much Tommy! I hope you see that ZZ flashing up often! Except on Perils of the Warp!
Wait does that even exist in 9th ed 40k? Ah well haha!
@@Zorpazorp no ZZ in 40k for me, the realm of middle earth is where these beautiful dice will be rolled
@@WelcomeToLumbridge Clutch those duel rolls Tommy!!!!
A table saw, band saw, bench drill and a router would make your life sooo much easier. You would fly through the cutting in no time.
Tell me about it haha, you should see my workshop man it's a shoebox. When I set the studio back up probably 100%. Just got to get this house deposit saved first.
You are nuts. Love it. 😂
Truth haha thank you!
I've got one of those big city tiles and even on its own it's so frustrating! None of the buildings fit on it well and I can't do anything with it. But now... Maybe I can 🤔
Oh yeah I never mentioned that! You can never get a building you make to sit level!
Haha oh man, what video! Absolutely perfect.
No you are
Hooray for the magnets.
This is very similar to the table I've been making! I 3D printed a 6x5 table based on the same basic tile designs :)
Nice work!
@@Zorpazorp your work is too inspiring for someone who should be saving money 😂
Wow, genius mate, and the quality "whistle"
Hahaha thanks Mitty!
YAY for modularity!
Yay indeed!!
The dark gods of terrain have accepted your sacrifice, and are pleased.
Excellent, can you ask them what is required to just duplicate the entire city rather than just the tiles?
@@Zorpazorp Blood. Blood and skulls. And rot, too.
