I have the NC750x. I don't do cars and this carries more luggage than any other bike I've owned ( including several big BMWs). It's easy to get in and out of my alley for work, does 100mpg on the motorway and is very comfortable and easy to ride. Some would say boring, I would say ideal...

Congratulations from cb 500 x owner. I like your way of thinking. It's not that typical, most of people want more power, more speed, more of crazy run that never ends.

You're so right, and it's also a nice evolvement of a good bike! As part of the deal they swopped my RR rear suspension from old to new bike and fitted the exhaust so good start...the rest is down to me, so watch this space.....😊
Congrats on the new bike, 1st of your vids I've watched, the algorithm is strong as I like camping and bikes. You give good reasons for switching. Enjoy.

Thanks for the viewing of the new bike. That was a crafty trick playing down the old bike, mentioning the lack of power for motorways etc. I knew you'd stick with Honda but, I was banking on a little more power, hence I went for the transalp. Brilliant choice, lovely bike and probably my final bike before hanging up my helmet. Keep up the videos always enjoy your site reviews.
Yes, it ended up being a good fun guessing game with the two videos.. obviously it was always going to be the NX but wouldn’t have argued against bit of extra power! Thing is, 90% of the time this NX will be absolutely perfect for my type of riding and age, and the only time it could do with a little more is those long motorway journeys but they don’t happen that often so I’m comfortable with that.. actually, this NX feels a bit smoother and I know they did some work on the engine as part of the upgrade. This NX would be a brilliant choice as that final bike and this one could easily take me into my 70s Thanks for following Rob and hope it’s a great journey for us all 👍🏻
I have a 2022 CB500X, but as a tall rider it's a bit cramped. So, my next bike will be either a Transalp or a V-Strom 800DE - need to ride both before I decide... For me, the NX500 wouldn't entice me to upgrade from my 2022 CB500X because there's really not much change. As you had a 2019 CB500X, I can see how the NX500 would be more exciting. The inverted Showa fork is definitely a welcome upgrade vs the stock 2019 front shock setup... Congratulations on the NX500 purchase, it's a lovely bike!
Great choice. I pick my white NX up on Saturday. Going from a '22 CB500F I noticed the increase in the lower level power. It's a great bike with all the practical power that you'll ever need.
Great choice young man, after watching yer last vid and the list of pluses for the cb500x.....really it was a no brainer......enjoy the ride. 'Ull' east yorkshire.
@@NewVictorChannel both are excellent value for money, amazing fuel economy and proper fun ride! The NX is a good evolvement of the 500X and a worthy successor.. Only issue I’ve had is using an aftermarket exhaust from the 500x on the NX and that’s thrown up an emissions warning light so currently back to the oem Honda one for the NX.. I’m sure a NX specific aftermarket will be there for summer 😃
@@thecampingbiker791 Yes like you say sir, just your time to explore the modification of the bike, anyway love your video and you explanation, it makes me convince i got the right bike... thank you!
Looks lovely in the white👍, I have the cb500x. I love it, can ride for miles and not feel tired. Smooth over the pot holed back roads and good on motorway. The fuel consumption is incredible too, which is the final cherry on top. I think this far outweighs the odd twist of the throttle on a bike with more power. 👍 Cheers
@@simonhall5086 I was sad when dropping my 500x off at dealers couple of weeks prior, reflecting on the years of fun I had with it…however felt straight at home when picked up the NX
Ah New bike day, nothing like it. It Looks Lovely. I'm sure it will do a great job and all the accessorising shouldn't be too difficult. Honda reliability and build has served you so well I was sure it would be another one. Not a massive surprise at the choice except maybe the colour. I understand the change and look forward to the rides awaiting. Good Luck.
Thank you Barry, it’s a wonderful day picking up your new bike, although over the years I’ve actually not had that many new bikes so I was always going to enjoy 😊 Looking forward to many years and miles travel with the NX, it does feel the same but with subtle differences that definitely enhance the bike..never had a white bike and liked it! Happy days and thanks again 🙏
Genuinely surprised you didn't go for the Transalp, given you thought after 4 years that the 500X was a bit underpowered for you now on faster roads. But, fair play, the NX500 does appear to be a cracking bike, and, as we all know, there are so many reasons why we buy a particular bike. Enjoy it!
Not to mention running costs. Less range, less mpg, dearer servicing and insurance make the transalp a much dearer machine to live with. Especially the milage you do Andy.
@@DDLovett yes, thats a very good point, if you consider the mileage I do these little Honda’s are so economical in terms of fuel consumption and servicing
I think you are going to be one of the best whom can offer everyone a true 100% honest cross comparison of the CB vs NX. Looking forward to your long term thoughts. Nice looking exhaust. Same bar end weights you can do your patented 🔨🔧 removal technique on?
Thank you, been out today and it just gets better.. I’ll give proper thoughts once I’ve put a few miles on it, but looking promising! No, it’s one that I got from a friend, only used a couple of times and it tells as it’s like new… Dealership fitted it along with my RR L2 rear suspension from the 500x as part of the deal so no charges
Think this is why I like the white one best, the combination of white against black looks great and when I get the white Barkbuster handguards it will look awesome ☺️
I was always hoping Honda would make a mini version of the Africa Twin. The NX 500 looks just like what I was hoping for! May you ride many happy miles on it! CHEERS!
Congratulations on the new bike, looks great especially with the Scorpion end can. I can see it was quite an easy choice given the nice to have electronic and ride upgrades this new model has and you retain all that was good about the CB500X in ease of use and economy 👍 Enjoy and I look forward to new trips and reviews 😊
That’s exactly right, simply improving an existing good bike! I’ll be developing it as I go along, never like to rush decisions but watch this space 👍🏻
Congrats andy on yr choice.enjoy it will be as good & hopefully better than the 500x,if thats possible .had mine for 3 yrs & did 10,000 miles on her.never missed a beat
I’ve got a 22 plate 500x done 27000 miles now never let me down and always hovers around the 80 85 mpg but has suffered a little with the two winters I’ve put it through even tho I’ve ac50 it a few times, changed the dunlops for road 6s and they made quite a difference all the best 👍
Kept my 500x for short trips around town - always good up above the rest of the traffic - and purchased a 2022 BMW 1250 gs for touring. The 'ducks guts' - perfect best of both worlds.
Excellent mix of bikes, I’ve had several large BMWs over the years and loved them all.. for me now they’re too big and heavy.. but if younger and healthier would I have one….yes 😊
Congratulations. I swapped from CB500X to NX500 (also in white) and used North West Honda. Just done over 5000 miles to Marrakech and back and I think you will enjoy the new bike. It’s a bit of a Swiss Army knife, very capable and easy to ride. I was tempted by the Transalp but the price difference leaves a lot to spend on trips. Good luck.
I saw your trip but can’t recall if UA-cam or Facebook (think it was Facebook) good report and nicely done.. obviously from the Lakes, we live in Lancashire now but from Cumbria originally 👍🏻
That’s a serious observation, never having had a connective screen, I could see how someone could get distracted 😧 happy days though and enjoying the bike 👍🏻
Nice update of the bike isnt it?! Enjoy the new one. Hopefully the twin discs will be added to the NC750 soon. Strange that this still doesnt have them, especially when the (albeit much dearer) Forza 750 has such a better front end set-up.
Very much so Robert, just getting it run in but very impressed with the changes.. I’m surprised the NC doesn’t have twin discs, it’s a big enough bike to warrant them!
Present cb500x owner here. Been looking at the dr650 for more off-road performance however. It would be hard to give up the cb500 due to . Its overall practicality, fuel economy ,range and reliability.
Happy new bike Andy and wish you fantastic and safe travels on it , I really thought it would have been the transalp just for that bit extra power if nothing else enjoy 👌 Steven
Cheers Steven, under different circumstances I might have done so, particularly if my wife still came with me on the bike but in truth I love the CB500X and the NX gives me additional benefits on a bike that I’m very in tune with… all the best 👍🏻
All those nice parts salvaged from the CB500X was a bit of a clue! I bought a black CB500X around the same time as you, but traded it for a used Africa Twin a couple of years back. Nonetheless I'd be very happy with an NX500.
Nice choice, went and sat on one and it felt very good, riding position and weight low down were superb… in the end I bought the NX as I’d been very happy with the 500X and had enough money to buy one without finance
I was really surprised when you said that you are over 60. NX500 and all 500x models make more sense than most other motorcycles. It is economical, practical, versatile, reliable, durable and fun. Really hard to find something to compare. It has sufficient power and not too heavy. I'm over 50 and probably well above average in strength. Even now I find my 600lbs Super Tenere a chore to move around but, I will ride it for 300-500 miles in a day (just to get out of Texas 😄). For shorter rides, I prefer grabbing my 2017 500x or other lighter bike. All the best with new bike. Enjoy your new ride.
Yes, time catches up 😂 you’ve hit the nail on the head re bike and this latest configuration of what is basically the 500X is a big step forward and i think will appeal to a younger audience! I had a Super Tenere, excellent build quality and long legs.. bit heavy for me know as I’m probably below average in strength 😂 Many thanks and hopefully you will see more of the channel as time goes on 👍🏻
As stated in earlier comments, the logical/ practical choice. will you be doing another video on setting it with the add-on's, engine guards, pannier rails ect..? Looking forward to future moto camping videos. ;)
Thanks, I’ll be doing a range of videos on the NX, just want to run it in and spend time with it first, although videos will be coming soon! Actually, I’ll hopefully get camping over next couple of weeks and be reporting back 😃 👍🏻
I like this new version of the CB500X. Interesting to note the TFT screen has improved your ability to read it. I need glasses for reading only and am beginning to struggle to read some screens... car and bike...without them. Not such a problem in the car as I can pop them on if required, but not possible on the bike. A small thing can make a big difference to choosing. Enjoy.
Had a 500x for 2 years and 14,000 miles , really enjoyed the experience but found motorway speeds a bit tiring, now have a BMW F900 XR , which is a joy to own , cruise control is excellent, tft dash with fuel range and temperature, these are the things that stoped me buying the next logical step and going for a Transalp.
I do understand your viewpoint and have expressed the same myself…nice choice you’ve made with the F900, had many BMWs over the years and loved them all..
I think you made the right choice, having watched you disappear down many a back lane, the Africa Twin would not be you! the Transalp a heavier bike bike to do the same job! & KTM odd ball styling, price & KTM's idea of you can use it now but rebuy some of the gimmicks' later does not work for me or you, enjoy the new bike. 👍
Yes, the rear suspension is a Rally Raid Level2 and getting the front end done over next couple of weeks… cracking bit of kit, although not entirely necessary if bike just for road use, the difference is noticeable once changed! Exhaust is nice, reduction in weight of over 2kg on the standard one
Congrats on the new bike day Andy, I'm sure you'll love it. Well it's like having a comfy pair of shoes then buying the same ones months later, they're new and refreshing, you know how they feel. Ok it's not the 'same' bike but it's the newer model and you deserve it. I did think about a Tracer 7 but then thought possibly less off road since you had more aggressive tyres on the old one. A new hair cut and a new bike?! You'll be showing off new cameras and jacket next 😉
Well put and to be honest i always buy same shoes when worn out 😂 I like the Tracer 7 and if had the money I’d have one as an alternative bike… the engine is a peach, previously had the xsr700, same engine, and loved that! With a new hair cut who knows what comes next 😂
You can't beat that size bike for all around riding. Good enough for the highways or fair trails. Honda engineering and quality it will run forever! I really like the fairing and the front look. Looks like it has a bit of influence from aircraft and was likely refined for reduced wind resistance in wind-tunnel testing. Honda designs are always so mindful.
I highly commend you on your choice of replacing your old CB500x with a ..... CB500x. What a great decision! Of course, you had the deck stacked in your favor, what with 3 of the 4 suggested choices being Hondas.
I've contemplated getting a lower cc adventure bike to keep my scout company in the garage. The question is can you fit panniers & a top box top the bike for trips away?
Yes, you can and many do with plenty of choice….personally for this bike I just use soft horseshoe shaped bags which suits my camping and trail rides. You can get official Honda cases but lots of good aftermarket available!
Well I suppose it makes perfect sense! You've had such a great time on the 500x why not just upgrade to a colour screen version. I hated the front of the nx when I saw it but it's growing on me... one thing your notice is because of no beak on this version,if you come off your a lot less likely to damage the front end with crash bars fitted as the front is a lot more stubby....may you continue shearing your camping adventures.....
It does really make sense, particularly with the improvements made to it, and I think it’s good for me for several years, which takes me into my 70s. It definitely looks better in the flesh and I had same thoughts as you when first saw the pictures but then seeing one in showroom altered that view…. Here’s to many adventures 👍🏻
I'm looking to get a second bike, with my current bike being a Honda CB650R but it's not comfortable for long journeys and currently looking at both the NX500 and the Transalp but most probably I will get the NX500 like you did, the tubed tyres in the Transalp are really putting me off and I 'm a slow rider, I prefer riding slow and enjoy the scenery rather than blasting my way on a journey
Yes, my thoughts on Transalp re tubed tyres, don’t want to go there! Although I’ve only done about 250 miles on the NX I’m finding it an improvement on the 500X and thought that a good bike.. with your riding style I feel that this could be one you would enjoy! I’ll have more updates on the channel as I get more miles completed 👍🏻
I’m laughing my head off here. I recently test rode Honda Blackpools black NX500 demo and loved the bike but hated the colour and wasn’t keen on the red one in the show room either. They showed me your bike being prepped in white (I recognise the accessories) and I ordered one on the spot. I’m now awaiting delivery. Might see you out on the road - enjoy your bike.
You’re the same age as myself and I have always liked a fairly light bike. I too thought you’d have gone for the Transalp. I’ve was going to buy a Transalp but I didn’t want the tubed tyres. I think Honda need a tubeless option, like the Africa twin then they’ll sell a shed load more of them. Good choice, and best of luck with the NX. 👍🏻
There’s a guy I met a couple of years ago who was 81 and still riding, albeit a small bike and not going too far on it…very inspiring and have to say if a lighter bike is a sacrifice as we age I’m happy to ride anything when time comes 😊 The Transalp looks a great bike and not massively heavier, although physically bigger, but like you I’m not having tubed tyres! Keep safe and all the best Andrew
Good thoughts, I am looking to downsize from a heavier bike (265Kg) and have been looking at reviews. I also like the Scorpion end can. Looks so much better than the typical stock exhaust 'bin' put on by Honda. Might give you a slightly better sound, but worth it for the 'looks' department. Also looking at luggage options for it.
I’ve had many large bikes, including numerous BMWs but I’m very happy with the lighter weight and to be honest more fun….mainly it’s just getting your head round lower power but then you also have much lower running cost! The Skorpion exhaust is brilliant, good balance of sound, compactness and half the weight of standard.. Can highly recommend the NX, about 800 miles on clock but already can say it’s a great bike. I use soft luggage for the lower weight and off road better mobility, but plenty of options out there 👍🏻
Some years back i took a Honda Varadera XL1000 to the Scorpion Unit near Derby where they used my bike as a guinea pig to fabricate exhausts for that model.. agree totally re getting your head round a lower power output and 'only' 500cc. I will be making up my mind between this and the NC750X.. I am 3 years on you and looking to the future lighter is good ! @@thecampingbiker791

I just made the same choice, I changed my old BMW 1200 RT with this NX, more suited to my current needs (I'm 69 years old and a lighter bike is a real pleasure!)
Fair comment you choose a bike which you wanted & was happy with over the past 4 years, hope you have another 4 + years ,ride safe & let’s see some camp cooking trangia if you got I think u have ,all the best great content. KTF.
A bit surprised, I would have thought the Transalp. As a 2020 CB500x owner I really can't see the point in upgrading to basically a restyled version of the same bike. Each to their own!
There was a enough difference between them to make it worth while for me, particularly for a longer term ownership, but as you say everyone has their own view on the value of change…the main thing is we’re all happy with choices made.. 👍🏻
A logical choice. Had my X for 6 years now, but recently found myself eyeing up the Tuareg. A lot.... IF i chop in the X, I don't think i'd go for another A2 bike, tbh.
I think so for me it will be a good choice, Tuareg looks a very nice bike and capable! Appreciate the power thing, if they ever did the NX as 70bhp it would be awesome..
Didn't want to pay a price of a new bike but liked improvements done to CB500X so bought myself a 22 CB500X. Much easier bike to ride comparing to my 73 T150V or 69 A65. Comfort, breaks, seeps the gas which is really expensive now even in Canada. It's perhaps second video of yours I watched and I was quite surprised you go off road without any guards on your older bike. So now have to see a video about your improvements to old CB500X. About eyes - I'm 10 years older than you and got to the point of not riding a bike year ago - cataract surgery changed all that.
Loved my CB500X, such an easy bike to ride and I personally think a fun bike on the back roads, was a bit sad when dropped it off at dealers a couple of weeks prior to new one arrived, but instantly felt at home with the NX…I did eventually put guards on the 500X and there’s a video summing up what modifications I’d done from about a month ago..I’ll put link below. The new tft display has instantly made a difference and I’m looking forward to more adventures with the bike! Good to here your cataract operation worked well and hope many more happy riding for you 👍🏻 Modifications on my Honda CB500X ua-cam.com/video/mG8AWFPYvBc/v-deo.html
Is the gearbox different? I have a 2023 CB500X and was a little surprised how high it revs in 6th gear. Up near 70mph, it's running at almost 6000 rpm. I wished Honda would have made 6th gear a little higher. Get the revs down below 5000 for the highway.
No, same gearbox but many people put a 16 tooth sprocket on which achieves the better highway running…I’ve never done this with my previous CB500X but when time comes I’ll consider it.. there’s plenty of videos out there 👍🏻
Good bikes, and I should know.. I used to be a senior powertrain quality engineer for Honda a few years back .....but I don't ride a Honda...I ride the new Benelli trk702x..an upgrade from my trk502x which I loved and rode 15000 miles on over 2 years and it was bulletproof. I miss the 500, which could do everything, but on the odd occasion, I felt I needed a little more power hence I upgraded to the kawasaki powered Benelli TRK702x which has the same power as a yamaha tenere 700 . I'm surprised you didn't go for the transalp because I've heard they are excellent
Nice to hear your thoughts from an experts viewpoint… the Benelli is a good looking bike as are some of the CFMoto bikes that are starting to appear. The Transalp is getting brilliant reviews and engine looks a peach but in the end I had enough cash for the NX, which I’m really comfortable and in tune with, and didn’t want to finance anything more expensive.. I’d never say never to change in the future but for now I’m happy 😊 👍🏻
Nice one Gary, I can only assume you’re enjoying the NX, I was unsure about changing from my dear old 500X, it was a part of me, but so glad I did as the NX is the same but different…in a good way obviously and know that I made the right decision… if you spot me out and about give me a shout 👍🏻
I am surprised. I have and love my CB500X BUT when i eventually change it will be for something a bit more powerful. Ive heard you say the CB was underpowered on certain roads so the Transalp would have been perfect. But thats just my opinion. Good luck with the new bike.
Thanks enjoying it..every bike is a compromise and it in truth the 500s just right for me 95% of time so the odd time it’s not I just keep plodding on 😆
Well done, spanking new bike. Mines due on the 15t.Ive been riding a MT09 Tracer. for the past 8 years and now every time I pull it out of the garage its a seems wee bit heavier. Probably due to my aging body 72 this year. Anyways enjoy your NX.
@@thecampingbiker791 Thanks for the info, much appreciated.👍 The NX is ticking many boxes in my early research. Honda dealerships seem to be accessible and the engines seem to be bulletproof, with good build quality. My other option is an NC750. But I think the NC is due a TFT upgrade like the NX. NX looks good in white. Best wishes
It's not that different to the 500X other than those things briefly outlined, plus a tweaking of the engine, and I'm sure it'll prove a great travel bike... we will see though when i get chance to go off travelling
I’m a couple years older, and I have really considered the CB500x or the NX 500…. I think ultimately it will come down to some test rides when the cash becomes available later this year. I just want a two wheeled vehicle that I can point to where I want to go and it just does without major concerns of short service in divorce et cetera, offered by some of the more classic make/model variants
I’m sure you would find either bikes to be a good choice, they’re so easy to live with, very frugal, Honda reliability and really good fun to ride…happy hunting when you’re ready 👍🏻
Looking forward to your first review Andy.If the Transalp had been tubeless would it have made any difference to your selection? That's the only aspect that puts me off and the need to carry tubes/tools rather than just a plug.Safe riding Richard.
I would have given it more consideration with tubed tyres but at the end of the day I just liked my 500X so NX was always going to be the one.. likewise Richard, keep safe!
Am I missing something here but isn’t the NX500 basically the same bike as the cb500x? I get it’s got some different styling but engine etc is the same
Yes, basically the same bike with new upper fairing, headlamp, better lights, indicator on for high viability, switchable traction control, new switch gear, tft screen with connectivity for phone, music weather forecast and direction type sat nav, plus they say a slightly tweaked engine and slight rear suspension changes! It’s actually registered as CB500x, frame stickers the same and for me insured as such
I have the NC750x. I don't do cars and this carries more luggage than any other bike I've owned ( including several big BMWs). It's easy to get in and out of my alley for work, does 100mpg on the motorway and is very comfortable and easy to ride. Some would say boring, I would say ideal...
Ideal bike for the activity and solid reliable bikes

Yes, it ended up being a good fun guessing game with the two videos.. obviously it was always going to be the NX but wouldn’t have argued against bit of extra power! Thing is, 90% of the time this NX will be absolutely perfect for my type of riding and age, and the only time it could do with a little more is those long motorway journeys but they don’t happen that often so I’m comfortable with that.. actually, this NX feels a bit smoother and I know they did some work on the engine as part of the upgrade.
This NX would be a brilliant choice as that final bike and this one could easily take me into my 70s
Thanks for following Rob and hope it’s a great journey for us all 👍🏻
I have a 2022 CB500X, but as a tall rider it's a bit cramped.
Thank you, that Suzuki is a nicely built bike and very comfy to sit on, Transalp also good choice….you’re going to have fun choosing 😃
Great choice. I pick my white NX up on Saturday. Going from a '22 CB500F I noticed the increase in the lower level power. It's a great bike with all the practical power that you'll ever need.
Yes, I noticed power and found fairing provided better protection to the sides… enjoy your bike 👍🏻
Great choice young man, after watching yer last vid and the list of pluses for the cb500x.....really it was a no brainer......enjoy the ride.

I think so, don’t get me wrong if had the money I’d have several bikes but one would always be the little Honda 500s… thanks and safe riding
Didn't even know about this model! Congrats on the new bike, happy riding.
I’m enjoying it very much, just need the rain to stop and I’m out again 😂
You have made the most logical choice, don't think I would be as sensible!
Also what I could afford 😊
You're not alone....I went to buy a Kawasaki Versys 650 a few years back and came away with a brand new ZZR1400....
@@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne ha, I’ve done that in the past and another thing I no longer test ride…it would end up being too expensive 😂
I could choose between nx500 and cb500x, both new and I went for the latter. Love the design much more than nx500.
Yes, for basically the same bike quite different appearance.. the 500x is a bit sportier looking and NX a bit more stumpy… I like both 😂
I am getting mine soon !~ glad you have had a good experience with CB500X and more I am sure with NX500

Well done can't wait to see what you do with it.
Like the 500X, I’ll take my time to consider what I’m fitting to the bike but looking forward to just getting some mikes in..
Genuinely surprised you didn't go for the Transalp, given you thought after 4 years that the 500X was a bit underpowered for you now on faster roads. But, fair play, the NX500 does appear to be a cracking bike, and, as we all know, there are so many reasons why we buy a particular bike. Enjoy it!
To be honest I really didn’t want to finance so a new Transalp was out but the NX will do most things well
My thoughts exactly!
Enjoy your new bike. I wish you long and safe rides.

The CB500x is among the very few bikes I regret to have sold. The NX looks great with the CB roots. Well done. Enjoy and all the best!
It’s a very nice evolvement of the 500X, happy days!

Yes, same as my 500X…excellent bikes and the latest is just a nice evolvement 👍🏻
Good luck.

That’s really why I’ve upgraded to be honest, the 500 does everything for me
Pleased for you Andrew, enjoy your new bike 😊

Happy new bike Andy and wish you fantastic and safe travels on it , I really thought it would have been the transalp just for that bit extra power if nothing else enjoy 👌
Steven
Cheers Steven, under different circumstances I might have done so, particularly if my wife still came with me on the bike but in truth I love the CB500X and the NX gives me additional benefits on a bike that I’m very in tune with… all the best 👍🏻
All those nice parts salvaged from the CB500X was a bit of a clue! I bought a black CB500X around the same time as you, but traded it for a used Africa Twin a couple of years back. Nonetheless I'd be very happy with an NX500.
Yes, was a bit of a giveaway 😂
I had my cb500x for 2 years. Got a ktm790. I am happy with the swap.
Nice choice, went and sat on one and it felt very good, riding position and weight low down were superb… in the end I bought the NX as I’d been very happy with the 500X and had enough money to buy one without finance
Congratulations! I am very happy for you! Please, ride safe and be well…
Thank you Roy, appreciated
I had a Super Tenere, excellent build quality and long legs.. bit heavy for me know as I’m probably below average in strength 😂 Many thanks and hopefully you will see more of the channel as time goes on 👍🏻
Good on you mate, buy what YOU want and not what someone else thinks you should. I'm on my 2nd NC750X and for the same reasons that you highlight.
Cheers Alastair, these Honda’s are just so reliable and frugal 😊
As stated in earlier comments, the logical/ practical choice. will you be doing another video on setting it with the add-on's, engine guards, pannier rails ect..? Looking forward to future moto camping videos. ;)
Thanks, I’ll be doing a range of videos on the NX, just want to run it in and spend time with it first, although videos will be coming soon! Actually, I’ll hopefully get camping over next couple of weeks and be reporting back 😃 👍🏻
Great choice of bike and most importantly we know its going to get used. Thanks for the videos.
Thanks Oliver, that’s a nice compliment and appreciated
Great choice, I’m sure the new steed will serve you well 👍
Very pleased Mark, it’ll take a few weeks to get it the way I want it but well worth taking time
Nice bike Andrew, congratulations & many happy miles 👍
Thank you and let’s hope for many miles to come
I like this new version of the CB500X. Interesting to note the TFT screen has improved your ability to read it. I need glasses for reading only and am beginning to struggle to read some screens... car and bike...without them. Not such a problem in the car as I can pop them on if required, but not possible on the bike. A small thing can make a big difference to choosing. Enjoy.
Yes, definitely made a difference for me and brightness adjustment also 👍🏻
Had a 500x for 2 years and 14,000 miles , really enjoyed the experience but found motorway speeds a bit tiring, now have a BMW F900 XR , which is a joy to own , cruise control is excellent, tft dash with fuel range and temperature, these are the things that stoped me buying the next logical step and going for a Transalp.
You're so right.....and I do believe this bike is me!
I see new exost and you kitted it up with rear adjustable shocks...
So convincing!
Fantastic choice
When you’re 63 you already know whats good for you so why change?
Enjoy your new ride 🍻🍻
I hadn’t thought of things that way but you’re so right as the older you get the more you know what’s best for you be as an individual… 🍻
Good choice of bike congratulations.
Thank you 🙏
You can't beat that size bike for all around riding. Good enough for the highways or fair trails. Honda engineering and quality it will run forever! I really like the fairing and the front look. Looks like it has a bit of influence from aircraft and was likely refined for reduced wind resistance in wind-tunnel testing. Honda designs are always so mindful.
You’ve summed it up better than I could and the fairing does feel better wind protection, although not had it at higher speeds or motorway yet 👍🏻
I highly commend you on your choice of replacing your old CB500x with a ..... CB500x. What a great decision! Of course, you had the deck stacked in your favor, what with 3 of the 4 suggested choices being Hondas.

Cheers Andy, looking forward to getting it match ready 😊
Nice one! Should be able to spot me on the road with the modifications 👍🏻
There’s a guy I met a couple of years ago who was 81 and still riding, albeit a small bike and not going too far on it…very inspiring and have to say if a lighter bike is a sacrifice as we age I’m happy to ride anything when time comes 😊
The Transalp looks a great bike and not massively heavier, although physically bigger, but like you I’m not having tubed tyres!

Congratulations, beautiful bike. Enjoy.
Thanks Simon
You cannot beat a new bike day. Ideal bike for you.
I’ve not had many brand new bikes in my time but certainly enjoying it…yes, i truly believe this bike was made for me personally 😂
Is the gearbox different? I have a 2023 CB500X and was a little surprised how high it revs in 6th gear. Up near 70mph, it's running at almost 6000 rpm. I wished Honda would have made 6th gear a little higher. Get the revs down below 5000 for the highway.

It's a nice bike, congrats 😊 I did think Transalp for abit more size & power but it's not a shock to see a 500 again. Enjoy 😊
it was good fun watching the guess work, the transalp is a belting bike but the 500 fits me perfectly and i could afford to pay cash 😊
doesn't the UK still impose a huge tariff on larger CC bikes? So I figured it wouldn't be the 1100 twin.
Or sure about that with bikes, they certainly do with cars and on first few years road tax.. happily the 500 is much cheaper 😊
Had to keep quiet on your new bike, it was sat next to my new bike when I was picking up my new NX500, I have the red one 😄

The NX is ticking many boxes in my early research. Honda dealerships seem to be accessible and the engines seem to be bulletproof, with good build quality. My other option is an NC750. But I think the NC is due a TFT upgrade like the NX.
NX looks good in white.

@@nev7711I think you’re really going to enjoy it, they have made a good bike even better 👍🏻
As most others I too guessed it would be the Transalp!
Very curious how you will be liking the bike, seems like a cracking one for touring.
Well done mate 👍
Cheers, so pleased with it
Am I missing something here but isn’t the NX500 basically the same bike as the cb500x? I get it’s got some different styling but engine etc is the same
Yes, basically the same bike with new upper fairing, headlamp, better lights, indicator on for high viability, switchable traction control, new switch gear, tft screen with connectivity for phone, music weather forecast and direction type sat nav, plus they say a slightly tweaked engine and slight rear suspension changes! It’s actually registered as CB500x, frame stickers the same and for me insured as such
More upgrades then I thought then 👍🏻
@@chrishall734 yes, also all practical and useful 👍🏻
