Excellent! God has taught me this as well... but, came at it from a different direction. Using Paul's analogy of children being being raised to eventually work with their' fathers in business, he said that they are "under tutors and mentors" until they come of age to be separated to their' fathers, to be mentored and guided by him to ultimately become a working agent within his business. Also, Paul has described all believers as "living epistles," meaning that what we experience by following God's directions (on a personal level), are just as "God breathed" as what is written in the Bible. God is a good, good, Father! ^_^
Catholic and Orthodox Christians understand what you are saying here about the Bible and the word of God, because their churches pre-date the Bible by more than 350 years, and they have oral tradition, going back to the apostles. But evangelicals have it ingrained in them that the Word of God equals the Bible.

Absolutely! The Bible contains much that will lead and support and encourage believers. I have depended on it for many years. But this truth is a great lesson for putting scripture where it belongs. It has too long been looked at almost as God/Jesus. Turning us to writings and not to the Living God
