Please, i need help here. I looking for a cog LCD screen, to repair my device. There a lot of screen on market with 36 pin and ic driver compatible, but not with the interface pin descripition. Its possible solve this problem on any way with a arduíno?!
1:32 ????? microSD cards are rated for 3.3V but these traces on the reader go directly to the 5V IO pins of the arduino headers. does that still work? the proper sdcard shield got a levelshifter onboard (PE8AB)
There is a smaller (128x32) version of the OLED mono display that you show. This one is i2c. Some of these displays have 3.3v regulators on board so they can be powered by 5v, but you may need a logic level shifter as these displays are spec'd a a 3.3 volt logic level. They may be 5v tolerant enough to work at that level, but might fail early as a result. Many of those Nokia displays are re-cycled out of scrapped cell-phones so they are actually used but mounted on new circuit boards. Many are not soldered to the boards, electrical contact being made only by spring tension. I've had to rebend the mounting ears to put more pressure on the connections, without this the displays were intermittent in operation.
My favorite is the lcd 1.8 st7735, Was a year that I learned a lot with your videos mainly with arduino and lcd, that more projects come for next year, and a happy new one.
I have been playing with a 96x96 sharp memory LCD, it's mono but high contrast and low power (needs external light sources). It can display a static image without needing refreshing as long as it is powered. The one I have is reflective however you can get black and white ones
My absolute favorite is the Nokia 5110 lcd. The low power consumption is a priority to me. And last but not least its cheap and easy to use. A very good video again from you Nick! Looking forward to your future projects! God bless ya 😊
hi Nick! I'm a arduino experimenter, beginer in displays. I used the 5110 for a frequency and counter strokes for rowing with arduino . I'm trying the same with oled displays and i would like to make any experiment with e paper (better under the sun ) All yours are amazing videos, i like a lot it!
You should try any nextion display, it's expensive compared to all these, but it's so easy to use, it's driven by a serial port and it's very fast even with an arduino uno.
I know about UTFT library under arduino, but before purchasing any TFT from random website how I can be sure that this TFT is going to work with UTFT library, could you please help me with that. I am looking for 4.3 inch, 5 inch and 7 inch TFTs with resistive or capacitive touch.
Hi..U have done an excellent job.I have a doubt.. at 1:38 u said it won't work with arduino DUE ..u mean the display won't work with Due or that the shield won't work with Due???
I want to connect a display with my ardino uno R3 to show results/ outputs of some external sensors connected to same ardino . Which display can I use.
I suggest you try the I2C color touchscreens from vizic technologies, they have all the libraries on board, so you only need to send commands to the display, this takes quite a bit load off the microcontroller and programming time. They have stereo amplifier on-board, SD, can play WAV etc.
I have been searching for a large Nokia 51 style display, like A6 paper size, or similar. There is e-paper, but its refresh rate is too slow. I need something with low power and that is soft for the eyes, prefer to use switchable (back)light if light is needed.
I love your videos! Thanks for preparing them so clearly and carefully :-) I also like the Nokia 5110 display, but the contrast and brightness of the 128x64 monochrome OLED is amazing! Cheap too.
Hi I have a project that requires a bigger display (pref. 4.3") is there one you recommend with a fast refresh rate? Also, from your video it sounds like the arduino may be the bottle neck, do you know of an alternative that could power a 4.3" screen?
Please, i need help here. I looking for a cog LCD screen, to repair my device. There a lot of screen on market with 36 pin and ic driver compatible, but not with the interface pin descripition. Its possible solve this problem on any way with a arduíno?!
Great video Nick. I've gone off the 5110 displays a little bit because of the press fit contacts between the display and the board. If you get any sort of flex you get the screen changing contrast or going blank.
I love your channel and have learnt lots from it. I was wondering if you were able to use the con1 through holes in your 2.8 tft display. Also, is there a way you could hack it to work with the RPi 3? Thanks!
Happy New Year Nick. My favorit Display is the Nokia 5110 because this Display is as you said before cheap to buy but great in its library and usesage.
Hi, I tried to use TFT touchh screen 2,2" display with driver RM65130. It has 16 pins and no shield.I use a < UTFT .h> library . All I can get is just a white screen. What is wrong with my project?
The Nokia 5110 lcd is one my favorite display as well. I have written several sketches for this LCD, and built many arduinos with it. I am extremely satisfied with it, even if it is very cheap. So i could not agree more with your oppinion :)
Hi, i'm currently working on a prototype project where i have to use at least 4 displays. currently i use the 0.96" ones, but the are way to small. the displays should primary show a static text. So i would like to use some with good readability. i'm thinking of a 3.2" TFT display or some e-paper ones. What would you suggest? is it possible to use multiple of these screens with only one arduino? And does one of the big displays use the i2c protocol because i'm very limited at available pins. thanks in advance
Thanks for the info. This video brings up more questions for me. Once I have selected a size and resolution for my tft lcd display, what is the best controller type to use for esp8266 Node MCU and/or Wemo D1? I have seen ili9481, spi, ST7735, and others. I wish to use a 3.5" tft lcd for my next Node MCU project. Which display type would be under $20/€18.78. I won't need animations, or quick screen updates. Thanks for your consideration.
Hi, do you know if one of these 5" displays could work with the mychron5 data logger this has his own 2.5" display, but will like a larger nicer numbers. thank you
Hi, what about the really cheap 2 and 4 line LCD displays? (Hitachi HD44780U also known as 1602 or 1604) for like $1.5. They are text only but good for some tasks like the FM radio.
Well I agree with all you say except about getting better for the money... I don't know where you can get something better for less than $1.30? At the moment I can get a 16 x 2 lince LCD from eBay for $1.30 including free shipping! That's why its worth it :) www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Module-useful-Blue-IIC-I2C-TWI-1602-16x2-Serial-Display-for-Arduino-CHI-/311751715915?hash=item4895d9ac4b:g:WcwAAOSw4GVYP4If
Why? They're still good. You can control them via I2C on only 2 data lines like I do... And they're very cheap, I got one for 2 dollars with shipping on Ali.
These displays take more power than my 3" OLED Nextion, which is insane, and they have a big footprint for the resolution and poor viewing angle. I had 2 and had nothing but trouble with them because of how cheap and nasty they are. They need about a billion solder points and miles of wiring and if there was one bad solder, good luck finding it! I never tried an I2C one.
Hi Nick, nice video. I have a question, do you know of anyone that makes a cheap and simple ascii serial data to composite video or vga or hdmi video driver. All I want to do is display ascii text on a cheap video monitor from and arduino.. any idea's? thanks. I do enjoy your vid's
I like your channel and I was wondering if I can use a display shield for wemos D1 uno board ? its a big wemos D1 board with ESP8266 on it . i have purchased 2.4 inch tft LCD display for arduino UNO & Mega2560 (240X320) ILI9341 chiip, will it work with D1 board ? even though it fits on it and show white backlight
Unfortunately we can't use a display shield with the Wemos D1, there are not enought pins. The only display we can use is the 16x2 LCD display shield. Check the previous videos, you can find a project with it. But we can use a Nextion display with the Wemos. I will try to make a project like this soon.
Thanks for your reply , I understand that there aren't enough pins to drive this TFT display but it can snap onto the wemos D1, seller told me that that display is for arduino uno. Here's the link for that display , do mind check it out ? www.xcluma.com/how-to-use-2.4inch-tft-lcd-mcufriend

Ohh, hello there! Fancy seeing you here :)
just what we wanted. needed a low pow disp for battery-powered circuit and you made it very clear. Nokia 5110 is awesome.
Thank you for this review, 6 years yet still very useful for noobs like me. I hope you're doing awesome these days! Cheers from Manila

Great video! Thanks and greetings to greece from Austria
I think you forgot the ePaper one.
He didn't forget about it, it just wasn't one of his Top 5 displays.
I was hoping the eink would have been one of them. I never have fast updating projects in mind. eink would be perfect for note taking app.

Works just like the 1.8" 128x160px screen (#3), but is a bit smaller if that's needed for small projects :)

hi can you tell me how can i use an old android display for arduino
Have you ever used a stm32l4 (board known as stm32l4 dragonfly)
or a stm32f103 (board known as maple mini (there are 2 versions)) ?
The maple mini is cheap and runs at 72mhz (is arm architecture), so it is much faster than uno.
wait i just saw the video lol
sir ? can I output information form database to LCD? (with picture of an individual if possible)
for thesis pls response.
Better use a Raspberry Pi. The Arduinos can't handle this easily.
