Lets face some straight facts. That kill on the Firestorm Direct stike ship was probably the coolest shit in 2199/2202 as a a hole. Using the rocket Anchor as a grappling hook and then using the AA as close support fire was one of the most well thought out kills. Also, ya know, the finishing shot with the type 9 ballistic shells was awesome.
Just as a little helpful note. It's a "Medalusa-class Heavy Battleship" And yes, I fully agree with you.
It was actually Sanshiki which translated Type 3 shells, but yea the kill is pretty cool

というか パルスレーザー で ダメージ 受ける メダルーザ は どうなんだ
@@gameraptor7740 対空砲だから射程の関係で対艦攻撃にむかないだけで威力は十分だったりするのかもね。
一応2202のパトロール艦の主砲のサイズである127mm砲を対空運用してるから普通に強いと思う。
音とその時の場面が合っていてカッコイイ

Did anyone else get the live action Battle ship vibe from the anchor drifting battle ship.
Also there is a music video of battle ship with this song playing to that as well and ends the exact same way as well.
A little for me.
I mean this is not the first time the Yamato or Starblazer do the anchor drift, if you have watched the remastered anime version.
In most other war anime's with any ships etc in them... those just has stricken ships explode in neat dusty-plume-like explosions and thats the end of it.
In SBY you seem them mercilessly TEAR APART in near slow motion (except in SBY Rebirth, which has the plume explosions, my greatest regret in life).
To be fair to those other animes, there is a certain logic to something like a magazine explosion completely atomizing a ship, although it definitely doesn’t look as cool.
in SRT an attack with the anchor + point blank wave motion cannon shot would've been awesome!
This is about humanity getting back in control of its fate
The anime is about the last desperate attempt for humanity to save itself from the gamilas the last hope for the dieing humanity to get control over its fate
This song plays a perfect message of the crew of the yamato gaining control over humanity again and saving the earth

Forget main guns an other inconsequential doodads! Get more of that super chain and turn it into armor. Seriously - anything that can withstand so much stress is utterly invincible. Put it on the outside of the hull, and you can laugh at everything enemy throws at you. Uber-space-super anchor chain FTW!

Actually in 2202 remake, marines and other officers operate mech suits and destroyed comet empire tanks and ships lol.
Honestly, I liked the ship-to-ship combat in Gundam SEED a lot. It was a pity that the Mobile Suits got ever more ridiculously powerful as the show went on, to the point that only their fights mattered.

Everyone talks about the anchor drift, but the fact that Major Berger knew how to drift an aircraft carrier? Spoiler:
Another indication of Berger's total badassery? His sitting on the bridge deck (floor) of the now decimated aircraft carrier and calmly lighting what appears to be a joint (probably some sort of Gamilas kredek or cigarette) at the end of the battle.

@@phucphangiatoan4873 Scientifically speaking given that Star Blazers is a universe in which advanced civilizations did not fear the development of artificial intelligence and advanced computers, its has a huge leg up against the 40K universe. On a basic combat level this gives, lets use the Gamilas for an example, an advantage in terms of munitions guidance systems, rangefinders, damage control, and interfleet communications. On a broader level interstellar navigation is a much more exact science in Star Blazers as opposed to 40K and planets can indeed communicate with one another from half a galaxy away, which is a leg up against astropaths and psykers being the sole method of interstellar navigation and communication.

It's pretty clear you know your Yamato. Is the 2199 series a stand-alone, or do I need to watch previous series first? I've been wanting to sink my teeth into a sci-fi war anime for some time (gundam just doesn't do it for me).
Here is watch order
- Space Battleship Yamato 2199 Series.
- This movie.
- Space Battleship Yamato 2202.
2205 is still in production and haven't released yet.
if you saw other name of space battleship Yamato movie or series there were the old version (1970s-2009) or maybe the live action movie
2199 is the first part of the reboot. You don't need to watch anything else previously to understand.

After watching the first series and this movie, I had a question: How much firepower do the Gamilas need? After seeing the Mirangal in action in the movie, do they really need, what, 16-18 cannons on a single ship? (Just something I was wondering about. No need for lots of comments here.)
Since all the gun is still going gun blazing with one person on board, I don't think that's really a problem, also never enough of Dakka.
WW2 ships have more cannons also lol.

Who would win gamilas at its peakvs the E.D.F and zeon both at full power with mobile suits including gundam. Gamilas gets wave motion power but no wave gun and zeon cant drop colonies.
Considering that the Gamilas controlled both Magellanic Galaxies and quite a bit of the Milky Way, I put my bets on the Great Gamilas Empire
There was a crossover game a while back. Basically a Zeon fleet & a Federation fleet had just started a battle in Earth's orbit. Mechs deployed, full battle readiness on all ships...
Then FOUR Gamilan ships showed up and trashed both fleets simultaneously.
