My father, Ray Linn (trumpet), did a gig with Pink Floyd around this date in San Francisco. Local 47 Musician's Union in Los Angeles recruited players to fly up to "Frisco" to rehearse one weekend and then play the following weekend in an orchestra.. When dad first came back he asked us, "Boys, have you ever heard of Pink Floyd?" My brothers and I exclaimed, YEAHHHH!". Dad, who hated rock and roll and thought it was "music to eat people by", said that PF were fine musicians and treated the orchestra respectfully. When the Orchestra members asked what were they supposed to wear at the gig, PF responded "wear whatever you like". Usually orchestras/symphonies wear black tie attire.

VERY underrated album. SO psychedelic!!!!! I love it. Floyd, in my opinion, was the greatest band of all time...they were decades ahead of everyone else. Including The Beatles.
That's an intriguing opinion, considering that John Lennon went to "Let's All Make Love In London" to hear Pink Floyd, and that's where he first saw Yoko Ono's "art." Pink Floyd, the dominant rock band of the 1970's, was instrumental in ending the Beatles, the dominant rock band of the 1960's.
I haven't heard this particular recording for over 30 years, but I have been looking for it. It gave me a lot of solace during a difficult time. I thought I would never hear it again. Thank you for posting.

First time I heard Atom Heart was at the Bath festival and was blown away. I could not believe David Gilmour's guitar and how the choir took me up with them. Later in Brighton
Great stripped-down version of this beautiful piece. The original was quite an accomplishment but they manage to flesh out the horn, string and choral sections nicely. Rick and Dave are particularly great.
always loved the original song but had no idea that they had to record Bass and Drums basically in one single take because of tape limitations... made me appreciate the song even more

my favorite Pink Floyd song. while the spontaneous nature of the syd era is glorious I find the stuff afterwords to be more breathtaking, engaging and dare I say trippier
I love this version. I bought it on a bootleg in the beginning of the 1980s. It feels like a different composition compared to the LP version, but very fine! I can not tell which arrangement/version is "better"
I was 18 and had a lovely girlfriend down south all i had to do those late summer days was read H. Hesse, listen to Atom Heart Mother and wait for my girl to appear. Can you imagine?
It's crazy how pink floyd weren't happy with this record as they were trying to accomplish another Echoes but to me personally hits the mark it's classic Floyd . True fans are here. ❤️ Praise Jesus for such great talent and music he gives us to.

@@paddymulligan indeed, at that time they were in bad economic times, so they leave the burden to Ron Geesin and he add the magic of this album, and this helps a lot in solving the situation. Maybe the best album ever made in their gold era
I'm not a fan of the studio version of this song but this recording is one of my favourite PF songs. I often play it in my headphones when I'm out running.
Atom Heart Mother live in '70 - '71ish was a masterpiece! It is acquired listening, if you're a simpleton......... You won't understand it! Lol, the change at 9:52 is an all timer!!!!!! I ❤️ how Rick has a cola on the piano at 10:02. What would you expect? Lol...... Also, 12:45 Spellbinding change! Wow this track is long!!!!!
Impressionante.

Somewhat abbreviated but still great on its own, live version. I miss the amazing part of the choir in the studio version, but you can't blame them for that.

The soul of Pink Floyd
And God rest his soul.
This song make me feel a lot of feelings. Pink floyd is the best band of the humanity
The harmonies of David and Richard are very soothing, especially when you have a headache.
VERY underrated album. SO psychedelic!!!!! I love it.
Floyd, in my opinion, was the greatest band of all time...they were decades ahead of everyone else. Including The Beatles.
sydIRISH indeed
it is my opinion too my friend
Actually The Beatles were about a decade ahead of the Floyd.
I could not agree any more
Richard is great and than harmonizing with David is excellent!!!
Their first Masterpiece in my opinion. Great to see them performing! !

My favorite Floyd tune. This was my first album bought when I was 13.
Which one came first? Deep Purple's "April" or Pink Floyd's "Atom Heart Mother"? Both seem to be from 1970 and share very similar style and structure
So movingly beautiful...a breath of life!

Great music, greetings from El Salvador
Ron Geesin, co-writer and arranger of this song, transformed a composition that was already beautiful into a masterpiece.
My all time favourite song!

"Let's perform the Atom Heart Mother Suite."
"Don't be ridiculous! You don't even have an orchestra and a choir."

Atom Heart is a great album but suspect record company weren't that excited about it as they think in terms of sales rather artistic accomplishment.
