Lakeland Polka - Alex Meixner on a Zupan Button Box

- Lakeland Polka: Here's an old Frank Novak polka from his Delta International Record "Button Box Polka Star". The Novak polkas are really tuneful in a traditional American-Slovenian style and typify the simplicity with subtle intricacy of the early button box repertoire...(at least that's how I describe it to justify the little twists that make these tunes distinctive and sometimes deceptively difficult to pull off in the original style.) With respect to the original recording, I put a little of my own flair in, as is expected in the evolution of any folk tradition.
Alex Meixner is one of the most dynamic accordionists on the scene today. Meixner has performed around the world, notably at American festivals like The National Folk Festival and Central Park SummerStage, as well as at uncountable community celebrations and accordion-centric events.

Mellow music from this one 🎶
Novak definitely was a more melodic player...
I love the Blue Zupan 💙
Me too!! :)
Great with coffee, great with beer!
Oh yes!
🤠
That was a good one & very enjoyable. Such fun to wake up and listen to beautiful music.
Glad you enjoyed it
How many button box's do you have, excellent music
I have a few... ;) that number seems to be change pretty regularly as instruments are sold, lent out or purchased... THanks for enjoying the music.
I love to hear music from Frank Novak! Is there sheet music from him for buttonbox?
The only music book I've ever seen was the one produced for his last album on the Delta International label-- "Polkas by Frank Novak" but that's long out of print... maybe it's on ebay somewhere.
Very nice and snappy! Excellent as always!
Thank you! Cheers!
