I've loved this band since VC's first full length album. Each subsequent release under their new name gets better and better. I hope the band is rewarded with a level of success they set out to achieve, and honestly deserve, because this is a seriously talented group of individuals. Their beat timing, mood shifts, and overall music style is so unique and refreshing. I think they are one of the best bands going over the last 5 years or so.
So glad Juan’s basement is back. and what a perfect pick w Preoccupations to start again. That setlist is just beyond amazing! Their live qualities are fucking sick. The moment Disarray drops in, maaaaan, goosebumps all over!
When I saw Preoccupations in London last year I was in the smoking area by the entrance, smoking before the gig and all over a sudden this guy with long blonde hair walked past me pointing at me and shouting "Sick shirt dude!" took me a few seconds to realise it was the drummer from the band complimenting me on my 'This Heat-Deceit' shirt I wore. Easily their biggest hidden influence on the band though. Ended up meeting the whole band afterwards and getting my albums signed which was cool. So that's my awesome story about the band, your comment reminded me of this moment.
@@PEGGLORE I feel like This Heat can't be too hidden of an influence. Listen to March of Progress off of Viet Cong. Now listen to Horizontal Hold by This Heat.
@@mugenjump Well yh, I mean hidden in the way that not that many ppl know who This Heat are, so they can get away with it ppl thinking they came up with the things that are copying This Heat. March of Progress has loads of dif This Heat moments in it, yes. I'm actually seeing This Heat tomorrow. final ever London show, 2 hour 45 minutes long, it is, should be special. Just about to phone the venue now to ask about when the doors open and things.
man..I cannot wait for live music to be a thing again. Firstly I missed you guys in the UK, then I missed you in Seville! (snow cancelled all flights) - hope to see you whenever things allow...x
Thus the live recording of Dark Entries on the Cassette album. While very few could truly emulate Peter Murphy's voice (David Bowie perhaps), the band nailed the rest of it, and doing it live. Love it, and maybe it's this similarity in sound that keeps me so interested in Preoccupations music. It's got a Bauhaus vibe, but yet is still very different and refreshing, as I mentioned in my previous comments on this killer video.
I knew disarray was gonna be sick but God damn espionage is the fucking tittzzzz live!!!! Love the breaks in it, they really add to how sick the tune is!
saw these dudes last Saturday Hard club @OPorto/Portugal . It was amazing and fucked up at the same time, the dummer is fucking insane and i wanna trademark the glue that sticks his arms together. Great Band! Congrats, you guys put a hell of a show!
It seems way faster, and I get it..I’ve done it..you get bored and just go as fast as you can...but I look back at what I’ve done..and wish I would have slowed down.
I can understand your frustration but it's a different environment to sing in when there's so much sound topping the vocals than with a studio session with a close up isolated microphone makes it sound easy and crisper.
But that's not what I mean. I mean specifically his vocal style. He accentuates completely different, he screams, he swallows many words, and so on. I neither expect him to sound like on the albums nor do I wish for that. I want him to sound "live" and raw, as opposed to the albums. I just wish he wouldn't completely throw the original vocal performance out the window and thereby also changing the feel of the songs quite a lot. It's most evident in live performances of "Continental Shelf". This song has very sensitive vocals (albeit loud and aggressive at times) and they carry the song in a specific way. Live he just screams almost monotonously, depriving the song of its emotional harmonies. Just my two cents of course.

New Material is a damn fine album. Excellent performance gentlemen!
the right music, by the right people - at the right time - and exactly what the worlds needs to hear right now
LOL at 47:41 Mike (the drummer) thinks he has a cigarrette on his hand and tried to smoke it, when he realizes he didn't have it

@@mugenjump March of Progress is much closer to Paper Hats
I've been listening to the record the entire week. Great timing, Juan! Disarray is my current fave (:
God this version of Select Your Drone is so much better than the one on Cassette lol.
I know right way better
idk the cassette is pretty awesome
Hell yeah I've been waiting for this one. Perfect timing too, as I'm planning on seeing them live in a few weeks. Great performance
Killing vocals in Continental Shelf

Frontman is probably the best lyricist of the 2010s. INCREDIBLE BAND.
BEST THING IVE SEEN ALL DAY!!! ANOTHER AMAZING PERFORMANCE BY THEM!!!
Viet cong rock!
These gnarly dudes are killing it live!
Love their performance of Select Your Drone and other songs like Continental Shelf... so good
My new favorite band. So good!

Saw these dudes in Columbus, amazing live band!
PLEASE GET ARIEL PINK AND/OR THE GARDEN. IM TALKING TO YOU JUAN
god Espionage sounds so much sicker played at the faster tempo they do here
This session is just mind blowing!
Espionage's drop at 29:22 is awesome.
This version of Bunker Buster is more or less perfect
Interesting keyboard playing style at the end of bunker buster there
Pretty sad about missing their show in Winnipeg a few days ago, this video makes up for it though. Loving the new album!
viet bong! :)
Diego Torres diet dong
Preoccupied
gotdamn nice work guys, really great
AMAZING!
F_cking love this band!
tbh I think I envy Juan more than any other person lmao. he's had Beach House and Preoccupations play in his fucking basement.
Amazing!
Nice! Bummed I missed them when they came through Brooklyn a month ago. Too slow on the ticket purchases :(
They have the facilities at our disposal!!! 🎶
HOLY SHIT YES
I fucking love this band!
I miss the hagstrom
the way one of the guitars is slightly out of tune on bunker buster scratches an itch i didnt know i had
oops @ 10:21
Paulson glad someone else saw that haha. Great recovery though, Danny rules 👍
wait what am i missing
@Jarno K the guitarist/danny accidentally starts playing the opening notes to Disarray (14:42)
his voice in this live reminds me donald duck
Brilliant! Same vain as UV POP and Modern English.
48:45 love them funny eyes, twice 👀
Damn this is fucking fine music!!!
nice music
The Bauhaus vibe is strong

SOLACE

Yes
Can't feel the power, low bass level
how the fuck does this not have more views !!!
The drummer was good in that film Die Hard
Might like this version of Espionage better than the recording
I knew disarray was gonna be sick but God damn espionage is the fucking tittzzzz live!!!! Love the breaks in it, they really add to how sick the tune is!
see you tomorrow!
dude needs to cut down on those cigs ;_; ... listen to that KEXP they did as Viet Cong; his vox sound so much better
Touring will wreck anyone's voice eventually.
what voice effect use matt?
Marlboro, no filter
@@miztawafflz lmao
When in Latam?
Love that daffy duck voice

There’s a good chance if I fell asleep to the Cure’s “Disintegration” it would still be playing when I woke up… (READ: it’s long and brilliant)

Get Wolf Eyes....
Espionage!!
Don't mind me, just back to watch this a 12th time
Viet Cong's drummer rules dude. Viet Cong rules. SORRY, """Preoccupations""" 😫
me gusta un poco mas cuando hace la voz mas aguda
Aaah yee
there is something wrong with the vocals
Too much reverb on em I think
blasphemy
He just sounds fucking exhausted.
Must be from all the touring lol
Think he's just a very rough vocalist live. Mostly in a good way imo, but it doesn't sound much like the vocals on the albums.
It seems way faster, and I get it..I’ve done it..you get bored and just go as fast as you can...but I look back at what I’ve done..and wish I would have slowed down.
there was a cool post punk band from edmonton about 10 years before, some of you might like 'em: ua-cam.com/video/qrcxZlZWQ_M/v-deo.html
Great show but Mike's floor tom really bothers me for some reason
VietThong
Gee his voice got raspy
damn, thought they were gonna open with a bloc party cover there
n e a t
I just wish he wouldn't sing like that live and instead try to at least remotely sing like he does on the records...
this one's rough cause we're listening to him lose his voice
He always sings like this live.

I don't really get whatever everyone sees in them. I've heard it all before in their influences, but the singing is just awful.
Mattski Messy Marvin YOU'RE JUST AWFUL
This bands gone way downhill...
this band is really good.. they are almost as good as Coldplay
they look like nice men
