The music, the atmosphere, and of course, the best of the bests, Clint Eastwood and his characteristics. I will never get tired of this combination. ❤️
My late wife hated westerns. But she was willing to sit down and watch A fistful full of dollars and a few dollars more. And I think she summed them up the best. She said these aren't westerns, they're great movies set in the West.
When Italian director Sergio Leone made his famous Western “A Fistful Of Dollars,” he wanted a man with ‘no name or fame in Hollywood.’ He found it in Clint Eastwood.Eastwood only had two facial expressions at times, as Leone liked to joke: “With hat, and without a hat.”. “More than a man, I needed a mask…” the director said. A smart choice, also from an economic perspective, as he had to pay Eastwood a mere 15,000 dollars for his part. Clint Eastwood had to have a cigar in his mouth for much of the film - something the man hates as he hated the tobacco taste. Hence giving him his signature scowl. Add to this the scorching heat of the sunny Italian summer making Eastwood perpetually squint, and it’s not hard to see how a legend was born; all elements came together beautifully.
Dad win, my oldest daughter watched this with me then when disneys Encanto came out, well the reason I mention it, she said this, "when the grandad gets killed by the 4 hoursmen, if he was like the man with no name, there would be 4 coffins and no story line." Dad win!
Sergio Argonne made these Westerners on a shoestring budget, thus the spare sets, lack of extras, and other cost savings measures. Budgetary necessity created the elements that defined a new genre - the Spaghetti Western.
An American western based on a Japanese samurai film 🎥 directed by an Italian in Spain 🇪🇸. With an unknown TV actor called Clint Eastwood. Its never got a chance of being successful, has it?. His agent told him it was a "bad step." Later he formed his own film company and called it "Malpaso productions". Bad step 🚶♂️ in Spanish.

Women in general don't get the idea of westerns. (And of many other things, by the way)
