Well... they kind of did unfortunately. In our capitalist system people like this are rewarded, because they bring home the ratings and therefore bring home advertisers and therefore bring home big money. A company will never get rid of and remove someone like Schneider... UNTIL a few older white guys in suits in the C suite studios crunch the numbers, and eventually come to a conclusion that the possible monetary reward doesn’t outweigh the risk of keeping that person and damaging the brand further. They ran these numbers for decades, and it wasn’t financially beneficial for them to get rid of Dan in the early/late 2000s. Now that cable is dying, they got rid of him a few years ago to save face because he wasn’t going to be able to make them the money he used to. It really is that simple. Exploitation upon exploitation. Where were the “adults” in the room? Getting stupid filthy fucking rich, that’s where! There is abuse in every labor industry without fail, but when it comes to the acting industry (especially child actors where the power imbalance is so INSANELY one sided towards powerful adults) ... it’s some of the worst of the worst. You’ll never convince me that nobody at the top of the company had NO idea that the Handy or Peck stuff was either occurring as it was, or that they had no idea it was absolutely likely to happen at some point. There’s simply no way they didn’t either know of the actual stuff taking place, or at least know of the risk assessment and possibility it would. I call bullshit, they want people to think they were born yesterday.

The fact these were done out of context meant that the ones from the earlier seasons allowed for the "It's just your dirty mind" defence. By the time we get to Season 4, however, it's every single episode. Once you play them back-to-back, the picture forms, and even lines that could in abstract be given a pass ("it's average") fit the narrative; Dan Schneider knew exactly what he was doing.
These would be funny adult jokes if they weren't use to TO EXPLOIT MINORS! The fact they are so explicit is what kills the potential for some funny adult humor, because these jokes have funny delivery, but knowing what I know now it comes off as just uncomofrtable lines thrown in. I always thought the innuendo jokes, while questionable, were the most harmless element of this and at least partly being cherrypicked. But in light of this action - continually ending episodes on especially outrageous, creepy, mean spirited ones, seems to up their importance to the writers (pretty safe to assume Schneider himself too, as a quick outro joke seems like something he would have had say over without much network interference) quite a bit.
“I heard you swallow” is so explicitly sexual and not even remotely subtle. How did they get away with this?
