Totally agree - that's the EC3 charm - every time they play and with every guest at Emmet's Place it's sheer joy in bringing out the best in each other
No one plays like you, Emmet. You bring to the stage such creativity that we want to know what you have in store each time. Your bassist and drummer rise to the occasion and interact marvelously with you, Emmet-the excellent Three. Thank you for such great music. Ivan Brisbane Australia
Gracias por venir a México ❤. La escena del jazz crece, y pronto sabremos valorar mejor las visitas de grandes músicos como tú, Russell y Kyle. Gracias por tanto.
I'm a bass player and a fan of Russel. Due to Covid I couldn't assist to your concert. My jazz trio bandmates went and told me that was AMAZING . So thank you very much for uploading it. 💥
@@A.ChristopherJohnson I´m the same guy who posted that comment. Good news, I managed to meet Russel this year in Mexico. :) Thank you for the comments. I just revisited this concert. I love it.
damn. .check that hat! Go Russell! And Emmet - wear that shirt the next time you get out to Santa Barbara please! My students are HUGE fans of you guys - you kept the flame alive through Covid! You are so appreciated!
He tenido el placer de disfrutar de la primera visita de este lindo trio a Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, les doy las gracias por ello y espero que sigan viniendo. Grandes musicos llenos de complicidad y alegria. FELICIDADES
This is a marvellous trio, eclectic and versatile. Each member has his own character and musical personality, yet they are so together, watch and listen to each other so carefully and with such love. A treasure. Thank you for this.
This trio absolutely killed. All of them are amazing individually, but the real tip is that they play so well together. amazing show all around by I particularly liked caravan

Your energy & affirmation are *so* appreciated @Mank, Charlotte, & cooldebt…& never taken for granted. ♥️🌎 It’s a passion & priority to see our jazz family enjoy this musical brilliance with ease! 🙌🏽…(making time adjustments w/ every video edit can get tough 😑…but your kindness really means the world!! 💋)
I’m in no way editing the shows…& I *respect* the wonderful folks who do… There is a beautiful village supporting the music. (all edits impact the accuracy of time-stamps, which take time to re-do ♥️). But, as yourself, I prefer to focus on this *masterful musicianship!* 🙏🏽🎼 please…Let’s enjoy!
Online sessions from Emmet's NY crib have caused me to appreciate his playing and that of his trio. Sound tends to be better from the apartment. The influence of Barry Harris on at least four generations of great jazz musicians from Charles Mac Pherson and Pepper Adams to the present day is clearly heard here on "My Heart Stood Still." I've come to believe that Barry, Art Blakey, Dizzy, Bird, and perhaps Betty Carter may have been among the most important teachers and nurturers of jazz musicians. Phil Woods has written about Bird's kind mentoring. Mark Murphy mentored and influenced and nurtured dozens of singers -- without him and Jon Henricks, there would be no Kurt Elling. I've watched Billy Hart interacting with students, and he's right up there too.
What a level ! This is no mistakin: very complete yeah . All the phrasing, counting, expression, dynamics......its al is there. WHAT a level ! oh yeah !
I must have heard a million attempts (both good and bad) of Round Midnight but this one was incredible! every second of it was sensational, thankyou! I'm also a huge fan of Future Stride - brilliant
I love when Emmet plays let's cool one from 11:12 to 11:30 lol. Not a very quoted tune but It's one of my favorites. This whole concert is just a blast to hear though it's a way bigger apartment haha. It's still got the essence of the group in a more open space.
Hace cinco días toco en esta mi ciudad donde vivo y yo ni lo conocía jaja. Sin duda lo hubiera ido a ver, magnífico pianista y ni modo ya será en la próxima vez !!!(:
Oooh! That would be great. If you like that, you might like to look up The Consouls cover of Zelda Main Theme - one of my all-time favourite VGM jazz covers by them (although every cover they do great!).
I listen so good the double bass, is a double bass concert with duo? Xdd is a joke, so nice mans. (The black wizard of final fantasy is playing the bass, the wizard of Ugoku shiro is on the piano haha) on the newt you can play besame mucho with something of perhaps×3 and cantina band and concierto de Aranjuez jejeje it's funny, i do that. Oh and every line on the wall of that video is a phrase of your hot music.
To Emmet's credit, he does the best job I've ever heard in covering for an inferior piano. However, there are a few spots starting more than half way through this gig when his musical thoughts cause him to stray to the spot of that piano that had become markedly out of tune. The piano tech (if these folks even had one) plus the Mexico City promoters and even Yamaha all kinda stepped in it. Sad that they didn't provide a piano to allow for the giant talent and artistry of Emmet to fully shine through. Time for Emmet to drop Yamaha and become what he already in fact is: A Steinway Artist. ( I love the 1917 Steinway piano sound in his apartment/rent party Moan-days.) Oh...and the group was EXCELLENT on this Mexico City night!!!
Super hot show, unfortunately the high sector of this piano was not in tune which is unacceptable in view of the level of artists performing on this concert. Shame on the person in charge of the stage.
The drummer reminds me of Ringo Starr. Not his drumming but his smile and mannerisms. The piano player has very good posture, especially compared to most piano players who have terrible bent over posture when playing. The bass player is very creative, but idk, he just seems a little too smug, and wearing that overly fancy hat with the wrinkled pants and sneakers.
What strikes me every time I watch one of your concerts, guys, is the joy of your collaboration. It's what jazz really should be about.

Wow - Russell's hat ... I enjoy the music of the band so much, but his hats are always an optical highlight.
Nothing like the brilliant interplay of EC3 - just consistently incredible musicianship!
Um trio simplesmente sensacional! A essência do jazz na mão de três virtuosos!

Richard RoDgers , that is ...
