Couple suggestions for you, cut a few access holes in the base of your bed that will allow you to access the draw by lifting the bed up so you don't have to go outside.,save the cut off pieces add some cleats and replace them. Make yourself a drop down shelf for the opposite side of the bed you can use it to cook on etc.

If it's really cold my gran would add tons of white pepper to the soup and it didn't even need to be hot to give you a warm feeling lol. I loved it so much I still do it. 👍🤤❤️
