It has to do with the width of the boats. Otherwise they would probably need permits in some areas.
@@scottirwin1693 Yes, otherwise they're too wide to pull on the highway. They may be within the lines on a freeway, but the "surface streets" would be a problem.

Why do they still call it "offshore" racing? It's more like Off-the-Beach racing. 😂
