Honestly, Tim Henson is kinda overrated. Sure, he knows his theory really well, and has good technique, but when playing live he takes out a lot of the complicated parts, and fucks up playing his songs pretty frequently for someone that’s considered one of the best guitarists. It’s really not hard to write a song if you’re following music theory, and to just overload it with technical parts to make it sound more advanced is just as easy. Anyone can nail the song for one take, hell I’m certain some 7 year old can, but the consistency to be able to do it every time, and having the skills to write a genuine moving piece is hard to find. Tim Henson is a phenomenal artist, no doubt, but frankly I think he gets more credit than he deserves
He's not Guthrie Govan, but I don't think he's overrated, I think it's well deserved, and pretty much everyone fucks up live a lot including the greatest, specially if they haven't warmed up properly.
