firstly fantastic job really great series,my grandad ernie mills had the barbers shop in the square in the 70s , my aunt n uncle ann n bill buckle had the george in the 70s my dad also ernie mills climbed the town hall by its corner stones in the 60s for a very small bet :)
Your last part of the video brought back memories for me as I only ever saw Kirkton in Lindsey from the air during a week in July when I was one of the lucky Air Cadets to qualify for my Glider Pilots license (signed by Prince Philip Dube of Edinburgh whom I met later in life when my son got his Gold DoE presented in Edinburgh) I was billet at RAF Hemswell for the week & we bussed through to the Airfield every day for training m& flying. I soloed during the lunch break on the Friday. The week started with a hailstorm & finished with a very warm but hazy Thursday/Friday. Glad to get to see the place again & also the village, Thanks (PS I'm from Scotland so it was a long way for a 16 year old to go back in 1965)
Just watched you're video this brought back a lot of memories for me. my grand parents used to live in the cottage behind the vickerage of the B1398 S. Cliff road back in the 1950, before they moved to Gainsborough, had a uncle living on Scotter rd then Todd court Messingham, and I do belief I've still got a cousin living living in Barnard Meadow, I was also stationed at RAF Hemswell back in the 1960's so lots of memories thank you
As a long time viewer (way back from the Thanet series which seems aeons ago now)really impressed how the channel subtly evolves.Keep up the good work and looking forward to 'Free for all Sundays'
Somente neste sonho q eu tive! Fiquei muito impressionada.
The TV and Electricals shop shown around the 17 minute mark is Knights CB Centre , visited several times late 80s early 90s when CB was a massive hobby. All the other stuff came in when CB use dropped but they still supply CBs and equipment for the die-hards. Only really visited this shop and the town square, didn't realise how big the town was.
Great video and history, however you are slightly wrong about the monument at the top of Traingate. It has nothing to do with Ash well it celebrates all the men and ladies that ploughed the fields. Ash well it situated down the hill behind the cottage you showed.
Also, listening back to what I say, I don't imply any connection between the statue and the well. If its only just behind that cottage it is still the right area so thats good enough for me I did wonder what that statue was about though, so good to know!

I live here and I didn't know all of this history and stuff
Hello Andy. I have been up in a glider there. The pilot asked if I want to do a loop the loop. I said YES, let's do it. It was fantastic. 😃 ilona

Fantastic one thanks Andy
No worries June 😁
Nice vid, Kirton is my nearest place with a shop 😂hurry up and get to Snitterby
Ah won't be long. Furthest place away from Gainsborough still to have DN21 postcode that!
Probably one of the smallest with a DN code as well 😂
Give me a knock at ivy house and I’ll get you a tea or coffee

@@TheVillageIdiot Believe so, mates into the Radio Ham stuff and he still has one for chatting to those who haven't passed the licences.
Haha ,I got my midland from there
Now I'm going to embarrass Doug Knights. He was my boyfriend for a while, 20 years ago. 😍 ilona
